At this time...Michael Schenker put American rock guitar players to shame. he was considered one of the greatest guitar players alive. Phil Mogg, one of the most under rated lyricists in rock. Greatest band of the 70's
Real raw music with real men up there playing real instruments I'm a product of the 70s so this is when music was at its peak I seen this band three times during that decade music will never be this intense or raw like this ever again
I wasn't old enough to see UFO with Schenker originally (was born in '73 and didn't discover rock music until '86!) but had the pleasure to see them reformed on the Walk on water tour...awesome to say the least!
nice, raw, unpretentious, un-slicked-over sound. this one doesn't look like it is very recent, love it! the total lack of stage bells and whistles, they could be playing in a garage for all I know, and they sound just marvelous!
Just saw Schenker in Corona CA in January, and @ the LA House of Blues in Feb. He is in incredible shape, happy, interacting with the crowd the whole time, having a blast. He is LEGENDARY. The great ones are the ones who sound like no one else.
There is really no way to measure or gauge just HOW MUCH of an influence Michael Schenker has been on 40 years of guitarists, but I can say this. There is one word that comes to mind. HUGE. Schenker is an ORIGINAL. Van Halen...ORIGINAL. Rhoads....TRAGIC and ORIGINAL. MIND blowing stuff!!!!!
once i saw U.F.O. & Michael at Winterland in S.F. i was forever changed & forever a U.F.O. fan but a huge Micheal Schenker fan ~still that sound~look` unmatched in Rock & Roll~phenomenal & 1 im a million~
This is one of the very best tracks by UFO. Mogg's voice sounds so good and Shenker's guitar is haunting. Ed M, relax OK. My 42 yo wife was intrigued by Mogg's shirt and heels too but I just ignore it.
im 61 yo. and i got to see ufo and ac/dc in early 77,was in front of the stage against the barrier, wes high on weed and had a killer time, one of the best shows i ever attended and iv attended a LOT,don't rag on any classic band,im not to old to rock and roll!!!
UFO was such a great band back then with Schenker in the line up. It is too bad he was such a head case and left when they were just about to break big. Glad to see he has his shit together and is still showing us how its done!
without a doubt one one of the best intelligent rock bands of the 70s. glad they are still performing. I would feel fortunate to see them in now. Michael S.: I'd go to see him too.
Where has the soul has gone from Rock Music. Too many bands now want to fill every split second with a thousand notes and forget music needs to breathe. This is how it should be done.
I saw the Walk On Water Tour, last minute in Los Angeles. The Palace to be exact. What a show. Like 1979 stranger in the night all the songs were played and the new songs. Pete Way, Mike, Paul and Phil. It was one of my best shows to see and i was up fn front!
The look that so many band copied is more than likely the sartorial elegance of the 'Lights Out'/Obsession era when their dress sense matched their sonic improvement. Here they looked like most bands, pre-Punk, loafing around in the heels n flairs gear of the day. At the end of the 70's both UFO and Lizzy were the meanest dressers in the rock world and influenced many of the bands to follow.
....the absolute benchmark. Guess now we know where The Who(and everyone else) got it from. I have been back and forth through this band's body of work and it is UNEQUALED.....UFO is the true SUPER GROUP!
John, totally agree. I've seen them a couple of times, the first was Lights out at the Baltimore Civic Center @ 77 or 78 , I was like 13 at the time. I remember I bought a T-shirt and that fucking shirt lasted like 20 years not kidding. But yeah early Scorps, UfO toss in a little Judas priest with a sprinkle of early Iron Maiden and you were rocking. Good Times-- I just can't seem to find that steady hard driving sound with the bands today, but I never give up trying Maybe jaded but I'll admit it. Rock n Roll
This is awesome to see.. 44 year old lifetime UFO fan.... Ok kids obsession and strangers in the night... These are 2 must have albums.. Does a full length version of this excist...
God, that is effing brilliant. Love this song, love this band. I'll be seeing them at the High Voltage Festival in London in a week and a half. Can't wait!
I witnessed ufo open for rush -2112 tour (Santa Monica civic auditorium). Schenkner played a white Les Paul, his hair covering his face the whole time. This is as wicked as it gets people.
Tighter than a gnat's ass. Melodic hard rock doesn't get any better than this. Michael Schenker deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as any other great guitarist. Strangers in the Night is bar none, one of the best hard rock live albums ever.
This is fabulous stuff, Schenker at his absolute peak. One of the few guitarists that could send a shiver down my spine. Uli Roth was another. This is one of my favourite Schenker solos, melody, speed, the lot. He is also one of the few to look really cool with a Flying V, I had one and looked like a total dick. Schenker is playing Workington next month, I hope he's not pissed. Awesome footage man.
I seen UFO at Chgo's ampitheater back in 79, 4 the strager in the nite tour/album. i remeber this song! They rocked! too bad schenker bolted with his problem?
Yes, a masterfully elegant and simple solo in this one with pure authenticity spelled all over it. The kind that overpowers any wannabe showboat. Schenker played guitar like a good hooker smoking a pole. With all of the innocent enthusiasm of a little kitten at a bowl of milk.
@Ed M • UFO was one of my favorite bands, having seen them twice in the early 70's with Michael and twice in the 80's however there were so many hard rock bands in the 70's that were also great bands and having come of age in the late 60's and early 70's I know that I listened to and saw live the best rock & roll bands that ever walked on a stage and there will never be a generation of people who will ever be able to say the same.
Pete Way is probably the most under appreciated bass player ever. His contributions both musically and performance wise are amazing Nikki Sixx basically "borrowed" Pete Way's trademark white and black suit for Crue's "Theater of Pain" period
For me,force it was the best album,as every track was a winner, how many albums can you say that about ?,theres usually a handfull of gr8 songs, and the rest are not as good,i find i load an album onto my i pod,and rarely upload every track, but with this album they are all gr8 melodies and production, its a big sounding album,
@drdrums4U They are TOURING THE U.S. RIGHT NOW; I saw them on Saturday night (and in '08 and '09 on the last two tours). Check their site for tour dates. They're still here in CA tomorrow, then NV. I'm not sure where you are geographically, but perhaps you can still catch a show. They still blow the roof off the place.
@76lyndon my theory is that they were too "subtle" to break out in the usa. they were too good as musicians, and their approach wasn't what the american public wanted to hear. schenker might have been seen as too technically proficient. (guitar fans may have found him intimidating, or they just might not have understood what he was trying to do.) similarly, mogg's "modernistic" approach to singing and songwriting wasn't anything that would endear him to the american public.
Hola ¿De donde ha salido este video? ¿Es parte de un documental o algo así? Hello! Where did this video come out? Is it part of a documentary or something?
@Broadfieldpoint i think that an argument could be made that at one time michael schenker WAS the best guitarist in rock n roll, and phil mogg was the genre's best singer.
Ufo/Schenker are like a bookmark in time. Awsome band red hot guitar.
Schenker smokes that guitar like no one else! What a fantastic rock band!
Agree UFO were the most underrated band ever, i saw them 5 times live back in the 80's they were brilliant every time.
At this time...Michael Schenker put American rock guitar players to shame. he was considered one of the greatest guitar players alive. Phil Mogg, one of the most under rated lyricists in rock. Greatest band of the 70's
R.I.P Pete Way. Such a great bass player :(
Real raw music with real men up there playing real instruments I'm a product of the 70s so this is when music was at its peak I seen this band three times during that decade music will never be this intense or raw like this ever again

I love this song, could spend all day listening to it over and over again.
Love the solo especially.
Michael was the greatest rock guitarist alive at this point....incredible.
Still is
ONE OF THE GREATEST LEADS OF ALL TIME...WITHOUT A DOUBT !!!!!
"Strangers" = best live album ever !
45 yrs old. Favorite bad! I can't believe this S is out here! They are so F-ing good with schenker. Thank you, to who posted it.
Они просто чертовски хороши
One of their best. A heavy band with soul.
nice, raw, unpretentious, un-slicked-over sound. this one doesn't look like it is very recent, love it! the total lack of stage bells and whistles, they could be playing in a garage for all I know, and they sound just marvelous!

He is definitely better than ever, such a brilliant guitarist.
+sparkymoo YES MS BROKE ALL MOLDS. BEST VIBRATO EVER
One of my favourite songs ever. Such talent & a great singer.
Reminds me of the good old days!!!! I loved UFO and would love to see them live now
Awesome Band!! I saw them live several times in the late eighties. Incredible with Michael Schenker.

This song is fantastic and Michael Schenker is a guitar God ! He was and still is absolutely untouchable.
UFO was such a great band back then with Schenker in the line up. It is too bad he was such a head case and left when they were just about to break big. Glad to see he has his shit together and is still showing us how its done!
Too bad Phil Mogg was a control freak and drunken bully, who was jealous of Michael and couldn't stand to share the spotlight.
without a doubt one one of the best intelligent rock bands of the 70s. glad they are still performing. I would feel fortunate to see them in now. Michael S.: I'd go to see him too.
Pete Way is fucking MANIACAL!
This vid only has 4000 views? What a shame. What a song.
The solo is so sweet

Fantastic song, stunningly great band.
Slightly concerned that I used to own a top very similar to Phil's though.....
Dig those high-heeled boots!!!
Bands need to bring those back into style.
What a voice.
УФО и Майкл- лучшие!! ❤❤❤
Great Song UFO my faworite Band
THIS SHIT WAS DEEP MAN. LYRICS ARE HEAVY AS THE MUSIC

@@mfbfg1 cool i attended the same show in Bmore....
Michael's tone is awesome on this tune.
This is awesome to see.. 44 year old lifetime UFO fan.... Ok kids obsession and strangers in the night... These are 2 must have albums.. Does a full length version of this excist...
Wonderful wonderful wonderful.......if I had to pick a world cup winning team for rock music, Schenker is a cert on lead guitar!!
God, that is effing brilliant. Love this song, love this band. I'll be seeing them at the High Voltage Festival in London in a week and a half. Can't wait!
I truly love this song. Once I heard Mystery Train I was hooked on UFO

I witnessed ufo open for rush -2112 tour (Santa Monica civic auditorium). Schenkner played a white Les Paul, his hair covering his face the whole time. This is as wicked as it gets people.

SWEETT!
Unfuckingbelievable guitar solo.
AWESOME...
Can anyone say Rock and Roll hall of fame ?
No chance. If Deep Purple doesn't get in, then no way UFO does.
itsglen9646 UFO deserves it more!!!
It interesting to ponder what could have happened. I wouldnt take UFO without the piano though :)
that the way its done kiddies.
ABSOLUTLEY TRUE!
@blade0954 when that happens, you know your band kicks ass
strangers in the night is stunning album, ufo are a rare breed of band, their live stuff is better than studio
This song is from 1975....who else was playing like that??? I'll give you a clue...NOBODY!!!!!!!!!!
They honestly lost me after this, but on Force It (here) they really hit their stride. This is as good as Arena Rock gets.
maravilha!!!
where has the time been
Pete Way is probably the most under appreciated bass player ever. His contributions both musically and performance wise are amazing

Great stuff. Never really got the keyboards in UFO though. It gets in the way. They were much better with two guitars (Chapman & Schenker 74).
@drdrums4U They are TOURING THE U.S. RIGHT NOW; I saw them on Saturday night (and in '08 and '09 on the last two tours). Check their site for tour dates. They're still here in CA tomorrow, then NV. Exactly
CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHO CAN PLAY A" MOVING" LEAD LIKE THIS........
@PhilipPorter . couldnt agree more.
Anyone know if ufo/schenker ever met or played with skynyrd in the mid 70's? Just a fantasy of mine.
When? I'm close.
3:00 shit hits the fan!!!
....................................GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!
@76lyndon my theory is that they were too "subtle" to break out in the usa. they were too good as musicians, and their approach wasn't what the american public wanted to hear. schenker might have been seen as too technically proficient. What a solo
is that Danny Peyronel on keys?, doesn't look like Paul Raymond~
Hola ¿De donde ha salido este video? ¿Es parte de un documental o algo así?
Hello! Where did this video come out? Is it part of a documentary or something?
@bronzcory
Yes - that's Danny Peyronel .
Yup...
Pretty jealous Sparky, see it in the videos,
yes
so many bands would copy the look of this band. I never had any idea what they looked like.
Geez what a pair of shoes..I trust he got planning permission for those. Was he really 5 foot 2?
@Broadfieldpoint i think that an argument could be made that at one time michael schenker WAS the best guitarist in rock n roll, and phil mogg was the genre's best singer.
