    Hey Dani, great video. Congratulations. That's wonderful news about your citizenship. I'm really happy for you. You can now 'officially' start your new life. 😃👍🤗 What will be nice is that when the weather in England is rubbish, you can pop over & see your family in Portugal, where the weather is always good. You're right, no one calls Christmas a festival. It's the "festive season" because "fest" is based on the French word for feast, and Christmas is known for its 25 December feast (roast turkey or goose etc). People can call it "festivities", but not a festival, which is only really used for music concerts.

    Congratulations, and welcome Daniella; you are exactly the kind of person any country would wish for. Btw; as a half-Brit/half-Maltese, I'd be thoroughly delighted to see you do a Malta trip report .. it takes a special insight as there's a right way and a wrong way to visit Malta.

    • @danielazziptrips
      @danielazziptrips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello and thank you so much! That's very kind of you 😊 you are not the first person to mention Malta (unless you were the one who wrote on the blog about it 🤣) and Malta was meant to be one of my trips back in 2020, which obviously ended up not happening. I am now curious to know what is the right and wrong way to visit it 🤣

    • @mr.d7372

      Ah, it's a 'Marmite' destination; you're either going to love it - or you're going to hate it. Photography may be nigh-on impossible until late afternoon, because of the harsh light, but then everything gradually turns golden, and photography becomes flattering. Also, Malta has its good side and its bad side - it has many hidden gems ..and some catastrophicly obvious flaws. Malta was better in the past, so the trick is to find 'The old Malta' .. not just in terms of architecture, but also culture. Example: in 2010, Malta retired its 60-year old buses for good (now replaced by charmless modern vehicles) but, some of the old buses have been converted to run partially on LPG (to circumvent EU Reg's) and are now back on the roads between certain destinations in the hands of private operators, allowing for a taste of 'the real Malta' which I feared was lost forever. Then, there are the festas; Catholic celebrations in the streets which feature marching bands and world-beating fireworks, each town having it's own saint and festa, on different dates. Then there are the locations; some are obviously for the tourist - but still thoroughly worthwhile. Others are best left for the birds. I try to go to Malta every couple of years just to check everything is in place.. and I never miss a nightime walking visit to M'dina (pn: 'Im-deena') an in-tact medieval city in the centre of the island, that takes on an incredible unearthly atmosphere at night. And then, there are the people.. it's normal to see neighbours sitting outside and talking in the streets in places, just being out in the cooler air of an evening. In Gozo (next island) people are known not even to lock their doors! Daniella, there's so-so much, but you have to get under the skin as it were. Go when its hot, but preferably late late June or July, before the atmosphere becomes a little more humid in August, making photography harder. On the other hand, time it for one of the really festas. I think a LOT of people would view your trip report.

    • @danielazziptrips
      @danielazziptrips  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mr.d7372 thank you for your comprehensive response! The medieval city looks like something I would definitely enjoy! I have added it to my list of things to see in Malta ☺️

    Hi Daniela!! Congratulations on your achievement 🎉🎉 can you share how you found a solicitor to certify your ID copy? Also, maybe it is also your case and you would know the answer for this - in the past 5 years I used two passports (since the first one expired in 2019), do you also need the copy of the first passport? Obrigada!!

    • @danielazziptrips
      @danielazziptrips  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Rafaela, thank you for watching and leaving a comment! I was lucky enough that I know personally a solicitor as she used to be my client, but if you look it up online I believe you can find one by searching on Google. You can also ask on Facebook groups of your area or Nextdoor, I am pretty sure you can find someone there. They don't charge a lot so it's just a matter of finding someone in the first place. As for your second question, yes, they do ask for copies/photos of all passports you used in the last 5 years, so you would certainly need that. Uma ótimo fim de semana e boa sorte 🥰😘

    Hey Daniela, Great video and very helpfull content. I have a question, do you know if it is possibe to travel after submititng your application ? or is the best time to travel after biometric appointment? I need to travel to visit my family, but I am worry they would count that days towards my application, which would be a problem for me.

    • @danielazziptrips
      @danielazziptrips  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thank you for watching and appreciate you leaving a comment! I don't think it will affect your application if you travel after you've submitted all of your information and complete the form. That being said, there are a few things to consider. Your application won't be fully submitted until you have your biometrics done. While I don't think it would be an issue, I would personally wait just in case. Also, if those extra days would make you exceed the amount of days you are supposed to stay in the country, I would certainly wait until I get my citizenship before traveling again 🤣

    In my case I have applied and submitted my application by the app on October So it wasn’t necessary going to the biometric appointment, It was simple ,Took a pic from my phone and follow the instructions about fingerprint and that’s it .
    However I didn’t receive any answer from the Home office yet . I don’t know how long the process can take about the letter decision.
    Any way , It was quite curious about the English test because the examinador asked the same question to me …
    I answered , The Edinburgh Festival ? 😅 and she was surprised about my answer 😂.

There's the odd word here and there which isn't right but let's face it, I still know what you're saying, you still get the point across and anyone who can speak another language and speak that language fluently is amazing. In all honesty, I am as comfortable speaking English as I am speaking Portuguese, but I definitely do more grammar mistakes in English (which many times happen because I don't think before I speak). At the moment I kind of think in both languages, and with some people we often have these funny conversations where we speak half Portuguese, half English 🤣 I actually struggle now speaking about some topics in Portuguese as I don't remember the words anymore 😅

    Is there any way to get a visa that could lead to indefinite leave to remain(to eventually retain citizenship) without going to school in the UK or getting a UK job? I really am interested in becoming a uk citizen one day and I have my own business in America so there’s no need for me to go to school there or get a job at a British company. But I’d be willing to move my business to the uk of course.

    • @danielazziptrips
      @danielazziptrips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      About 2/3 years ago I did some research about visas for some videos I created for this channel, and the answer at the time would be no. HMRC said they were not looking to provide self employment visas at least in the nearest future. Its been a while, so I would recommend looking into it again. If you have your own business and would like to live here you would most likely fit into that category. Good luck!

    After biometrics how long does it take for the British passport to arrive

    • @danielazziptrips

      So you don't get your passport at the ceremony. You get your Biometrics done, then you wait to get a response. Once you are approved, you wait a couple of day and then you can book your ceremony. You will need your certificate in order to apply for your British Passport, so you need to get your citizenship done in the first place 👍

      Hi there, according to gov.uk, I'm afraid it doesn't matter how long you've been staying in the UK for, you still have to wait 12 months from the date you get your indefinite leave to remain (ILR) until you can apply for your British citizenship - and you have to, of course, live in the UK for those 12 months. Hope that helps 😊

      For settlement and no need for complications since UK has left the EU

    • @danielazziptrips
      @danielazziptrips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just like @sidudumba mentioned, since UK left the EU, things are now different. Without a citizenship, I would be relying on a settlement status in order to have the right to live and work here. As someone who has lived in the UK for almost 8 years, I would prefer to have that piece of mind. Also, if I need to leave the country for a long time for whatever reason (traveling, family emergency, etc.), that will affect my ability to get a citizenship in the future, so it was better to do it now that I met all of the criteria. Lastly, a very small benefit that is irrelevant but I just like it is the fact that the British passport is cheaper and lasts longer than my Portuguese one, and having it full of stamps and being able to keep it it's something that I appreciate, regardless of how trivial that is 🤣 (in Portugal, they take our passports away once we renew them so we don't get to keep them).
