Im honestly really sad about the change. Im not someone who targets specifc brands for figures, just goes for the characters i like whoever may have it. And the original version of the figure captured the sharpness and angles so well, and the sleakness of the design matches the silhouette of the movie. This new version with the fabric rounds off the edges and gives it too much of a soft look. Like a person in a halloween costume (a really good Halloween costume to be fair). Granted, this is coming from someone who is an animator. so having it be acurate to the movies stylised nature, with more dynamic ranges of movement is alot more important to me then realism. I'm also wondering what other aspects of the figure might have changed. None of the photos show how the cape, webbing, or the alternative unmasked head may have changed due to this. Which is annoying

If Hot Toys offers both options for a nominal increase in price for the seamless suit along with the option for people who originally pre-ordered to either keep the super-posable jointed version or pay the difference to switch and get the seamless one, then "collectors" really have NOTHING to complain about. The idea of pre-ordering in the hopes of being able to "catch a deal" just seems like an absolutely daft purchasing strategy to me.🤦🏻♂️

a year later and this comment is so true, if you understand spiderman 2099 then this new version looks goofy as hell. as you said its not meant to be a fabric suite simple as, it makes no sense lore wise if people wanted a realistic 2099, why not get the hot toys ps4 2099 version. I thought people bought figures of characters they are fans of and understand them....I guess not
The figures I've bought because they look cool but don't connect to my nostalgia or love of the character are always the first to go when something i love more comes along. Folks fall into the fomo. But it should be a marathon not a sprint to the ideal collection. Not filled with stuff people don't have connection to
The thing with other spideys is that they have normal costumes, miguel ohara in other hand have an hologram costume so does not make sense for him to have actual clothes
Good stuff, Ben. I never had any interest in this figure because I don't collect Spider-Man, but it's definitely an improvement, if not at least for consistency in appearance with the rest of the line. Otherwise it looked like a great Mondo figure, but not a Hot Toys figure.

I have to agree with the people that claim they wanted the figure with the joints, y’all just trying to be different. If you want a figure that you can pose all day, go with marvel legends or another brand. Hot toys is known for making the best realistic figures from movies/shows. There’s no way in hell I’d pay $290-$350 for an action figure with exposed joints. The revision is accurate and 100x better.
Maximum accuracy is what Hot Toys should be known for. If you want maximum poseblity, go with a marvel legends figure.
