    VERY Helpful! We bought a Highlander just about a month ago and we have been SO confused by the buttons and the screens. My wife just called me (from the car) saying I HATE THIS CAR! because we just can't figure it all out. There are too many buttons/options and ZERO help from Toyota. Why the Toyota company hasn't made a clear, simple, direct video like you did baffles me. I can't wait till my wife gets home so I can show her your video. My blood pressure has dropped watching your video (not really, but you get the idea) and I'm sure hers will as well. Thank you again!

But your video was a great help Tell me what all the buttons did. Now, do you have a video explaining where all of the sensors are located on the outside of the vehicle? The high low automatic headlights, the radar for cruise control the blind spot monitoring, etc?

    Good presentation, but a couple of omissions...1) you can turn off the auto parking brake by holding the parking brake button for 5 seconds. 2) the three ports next to the 12 volt outlet are not old and new style, the left one is for USB connection to the system, while the right two are for charging only (no connection). 3) on the air conditioning, you forgot to mention pressing "auto" on the left temp control knob sets the whole front seat area to automatic duct and fan control. 4) Also on air conditioning, the S-flow button doesn't just turn the rear off, it senses where there are seated passengers and allows control/flow to only those areas. Otherwise, good presentation!

    • @laurensutton3016
      @laurensutton3016 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can one of you elaborate on what the AUTO button does on the left temp dial? Since there’s no Max AC button anywhere, does this cover that function?

    • @curtiselder9623
      @curtiselder9623 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@laurensutton3016 Yes... sort of. First, the obvious... "Auto" will tell the system to detect the outside temp, the inside temp, and the sunshine brightness coming through the front windshield to determine how to adjust the temperature of the heater/AC air, the fan speed, the source of the air (outside or recirculate), and the flow/direction of the air (dash vents, floor vents, defrost vents, or a mix of those) to achieve the temperature you set with the three dials (driver, front passenger, rear passenger). Note that it will also delay the initial air movement after starting your engine, until the engine warms up enough for heat, or for the air conditioning compressor to produce enough cold air to be useful, so you don't get blasted with damp, un-conditioned air. As far as "Max Air", I have a Mustang with that button, which forces the air source to "recirculate" and keeps the compressor ratio to "fully on" to give you the coldest possible air. The "auto" button on the Highlander will make those choices for you if you turn the temp all the way down to "LO" in "auto", the coldest setting. Note also, that the Highlander will attempt to make you comfortable with as little noise as possible. Plus, you can manually set the fan speed or air ducts at any time which will extinguish the "auto" light. However, I have found that "auto" works very well, runs smooth and quietly, and uses less gasoline than using any manual control. Plus, if you drive into a tunnel in the summer time, the fan will slow down because there is no sunshine to keep you warmed up. One more thing... if you select "ECO" on the center console for driving more economically (as opposed to Sport or Normal), your air conditioner will take a little longer to cool you down, as that will save fuel. Hope that helps.

Also how to get to the standard FM radio. I haven’t spent much time with mine yet, but if memory serves me correctly it’s a bit convoluted getting to the radio as well as no way to put a hot button for it on the CarPlay screen. As I write this another would be how to set favorites in radio.

    Brian-Excellent Video's to help understand all the features. I tried skimming through the manual, but it was not helpful at all and doesn't go over a lot of the features which is disappointing. This is a lifesaver :-) . The only thing I can't figure out is how to do the audio text readback. Making calls or sending text messages is not an issue, however when I get a text message and touch screen so it will read it to me, I can't hear it through the speakers like I can with phone calls. I can faintly hear it near the MID area. The screen shows me it is reading it back, i just can't hear it. I noticed the microphone on my MID shows it's crossed out. I was able to make it work once but can't figure how to again. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Just came home with a '24 Grand Highlander which has the same or very similar infotainment system. Question: Is there a way to autolock the car when you walk away? Also, a couple complaints, the wireless android auto disconnects constantly which makes it nearly useless. Too bad, I was looking forward to this feature. Wired works fine. Also, the lane departure assist function doesnt alway work. While testing, there are times when nothing happens when the car crosses the center lines. Weird. Overall - Love the car.

    Great video man! I was having difficulty with the rear vent controls and this video explained it better than most! Others gloss over it making it seem so simple but that’s not always the case.

    Hi Brian- thanks for this. Is there a setting to compute gas mileage for a trip ? I know it shows up when you turn the car off, but then it resets, correct? So if you are on a trip and stop for gas, you can’t tell gas mileage for entire trip, right? Does that question make sense?

    First time Toyota Highlander purchaser. Thanks for the video, but one question (at least) remains: The power mirrors on the Limited trim level automatically pull in when the vehicle is locked. But is there a way to pull them in (either via a setting or manually) prior to driving into what can be a somewhat narrow garage?

    • @brianruperti
      @brianruperti  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey welcome to the family! If it has the option to fold separately, there would be a button on the door by the window switch with a little mirror symbol and a capital “A” for auto fold and you can push the button all the way down to fold now. I hope that helps.
