A modular home is a stick built house that is built in a factory and delivered to the house site. One big advantage to this is that you do not have weather delays

Kevin and Sarah, your house is beautiful. You mentioned a porch across the front. Just from experience you may want to do a deck instead. I added porches on the front and back of our barndominium. It made our house so darn dark. All of the great windows for the natural light got covered and all that light is gone. I just wanted to share that with you to think about. Enjoy your new home!

I agree maybe a pergola which will provide dappled shade if some shade is required in summer over a deck that you can sit out on make it wide enough for entertaining though not just a few feet wide

When you add the front porch, I highly recommend building a fireplace at one end of the porch. Besides using the fireplace for cooking it sure makes being on the porch very cozy on chilly nights!

A basement as you age is good as you don’t have to walk outside to get to a safety shelter in case of a tornado.

Nadapotles!!! I am commenting here to ensure you see it. I smoked my Nadapeños and made not hot chipotles out of them. We still love chipotles, but for extra flavor in salsa and other things without making them too hot to eat, we add this to whatever.

Love your new house, excited for your family to have the indoor living space that will meet your needs. With a very cold winter approaching it would be nice if you were able to have your wood heating in place but it isn't as easy to get the things we need in a short amount of time with everything going on in the world. Sarah when we built our home I’d lay awake at night visualizing where everything was going to go in our kitchen. I lived in the house in my mind for months before we actually got to move in. You’re gonna love this new home. I’m so excited for you.

Hi Kevin & Sarah. Good decision to purchase a modular. We love ours, built in 2016. We also designed a steep roof for New Hampshire snow & ice. Our living room and kitchen has a cathedral ceiling. I like your large island. We opted to use our farm table, so we can sit and work. We are older. Our kitchen wood stove graces the opposite end from your refrigerator, next to the back door. Our entire house is 1,000 square feet! Good for two people.
I have a six burner propane stove. Also an on demand propane hot water heater. It is cost efficient and never runs out of hot water! We also have a 1,000 square foot propane heater for the full basement. We chose a walk in basement, as we are limited on out buildings. Your size house is perfect for your family. Our canning is stored in the basement, along with two freezers and W/D.
We also chose a heavy duty lino flooring through out the house. That was a live saver for us farmers! You are going to love your house! ~ Diane
