Lindsey McKenzie, Vice President of the Brazos Valley CattleWomen, says she originally became a member of the organization because she wanted to learn more about the cattle industry. McKenzie states she grew up in 4-H and FFA in high school, but she never had the intention of raising commercial cattle. Until recently, when she began buying cattle with her father. She quickly turned to the CattleWomen, who welcomed her with open arms, to help guide her in the cattle industry. Since then, McKenzie said the organization has made her feel like family.
