In Australia, the Seven Network stations BTQ 7 Brisbane, ATN 7 Sydney and HSV 7 Melbourne were the ones to give a sign off for analogue. The other stations just flicked the switch.
Nicely done, ClassicGamer. Let me just say that it is absolutely understandable that you were surprised at the amount of BTQ 7 videos. The thing about the DTV Transition here in Australia is that during the switchover in the last three capital cities; Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne (on May 28th, December 3rd and December 10th respectively, all in 2013), Seven Network's channels being this one, ATN-7 in Sydney and HSV-7 in Melbourne were the only ones that took the time to sign off their analog signal while the other networks (NINE and TEN) just cut their signal at 9AM, or sometime after 9AM as was the case for the Government-operated SBS and ABC. While the first analog station in Australia to be shut down was in the rural town of Mildura, Victoria back on June 30th, 2010, this station was actually the first in Australia to do a proper sign off of analog TV. So you got the good pick here. So once again, another great video.
Wow, that's surprising to see that the first shut down was in the rural areas of Mildura, Victoria on June 30, 2010. I thought the exact date of 2013 was the proper mandatory shut down for the digital transition in Australia. Cool. Thanks for supporting the series and also I'm continuing this on my new YT channel, Clásikū. The link to my new channel is on the discussions tab so I hope you stay tuned to more content like this! :)
Mysweetrampage was my original youtube channel’s name, i couldn’t upload it in HD at the time because i had a woeful internet connection. I took it down with the intention of reuploading it in HD but simply forgot, I’ll reupload it again tonight if you like. I also recorded some sections just before the cut off that included the warning crawl on the bottom of the screen that told users about the impending analogue shut off, i’ll upload those too.
Hello, Nick. WJW Fox 8 will be on my to-do list for the "Analog Simultaneous Shutdown" after the holidays and I'll upload the video on my new channel Clásikū. (I'll let you know whenever I post it to YT.) I hope you have a happy new year! :)
im surprised no info was given about how to retune or continue viewing, or even mentioning the digitalready website. sure there was nostalgia, but that was all. Channel 7 Sydney still comes out on top.
Is it just me or is this closedown more American than Australian? TBF I don't know much about Australian history but most of the quotes ("Free at last" "Ask not" "Eagle has landed", I don't know where "Nothing will" is from) and several of the clips (I saw Elvis, 9/11, Clinton scandal speech, MLK speech, NASA, what looks like an acrobat in front of the American flag) all seem to be American stuff.
Miss it, god it was terrible when it rained or it was too windy... nowadays ya tv is just a bulletproof signal, could only get 7, 9 and ABC on the normal days... noise reduction? Yes please, but the nostalgia of it.
From a US based broadcast engineer: How fitting BTQ-7 ends with a "test card", just as it probably started. Life is a circle.
This one gives me goosebumps. The music at the end and the "THE END" message is really good.
They said that, when one dies, their life flashes before their eyes. That's the best way to describe the end of Channel 7 Brisbane in Analog.
"I will never forget you-"
*Channel Dies*

I don't know at 2:16 they show a live picture of 9/11 show the 1wtc burning
im surprised no info was given about how to retune or continue viewing, or even mentioning the digitalready website.

??? Ok
2:40 i see a analog and digital tv
I used to think this sign off was scary, it was somehow for another reason than the 9/11 clip.
I'm shocked that in analog television, a final clip plays, but in digital they do not!
It’s a farewell clip only for analog viewers since the digital one really wasn’t going anywhere there was no need
@@smophie6260 It can still be seen in a news story about it.
3:10 creepy.
