KYW-TV Philadelphia (CBS Channel 3) Analog TV Simultaneous Shutdown - Episode 1 [HD - 1080p]

- This video is based on "real time" with people who uploaded the video of the same channel. KYW-TV is CBS in Philadelphia. Believe it or not, this is my first video in 1080p, so turn up to HD 1080p and enjoy. The people who uploaded their video and their video appeared in here your video is in the credits. I understand that this is an old topic that people have been talking about in 2009, but I "alone" have been very concerned about learning more about this, so it doesn't hurt if I should come back to a historical moment in Television history as I am 16 years old, believe it or not.

Also if you don't know some of the things that appeared on screen, then let me level with you, Erickson Living (Ann's Choice Commercial) is a Senior retirement company.
KYW-TV CBS channel 3 is a Philadelphia channel station originally owned by Philco Television before its bankruptcy and was later owned by CBS, this channel was the only channel that cooperated with the digital nightlight service by the National Association of Broadcasters.
It ended its Analog broadcast with a 1930's test card of theirs with Philco Television on it followed by a voiceover by Jackie Johnson saying... "You're watching KYW-TV. The switch to digital is happening now." It was then interfered with an image of a man holding a Zappos card for a few seconds. Zappos is an online shoe selling company, next it returned with the test card, and finally was concluded with a image of the classic CBS eye logo and a message saying, "Goodbye" and it ended its Analog transmission.

(2/29/23) IMPORTANT UPDATE - PLEASE READ!
Due to the countless amount of people posting timestamps on the remake of this video, I decided to keep it private. There are a couple of reasons why I privated the video, but it's mostly because I felt I did a dirty work by simply freebooting it.
I simply let the video go on for long because I wanted to simulate the analog shutdown like if it were to happen in real time. But because I used Dave Webb and Randreash's videos, it felt it was more of a freeboot than anything else. Hell, on the remake of the video, I put my friggin' watermark on the top right corner of Mr. Webb's video like was my own work when IT WASN'T. I feel like a massive friggin' idiot for doing that, and that's not acceptable. I sincerely apologize for that. It's pretty much the reason why I kept the KPIX, WABC and the remake of the KYW analog shutdown video private.
I highly encourage everyone to watch Mr. Webb's colored version of KYW's digital switchover.

Also I found the original image source I used for the "Goodbye" screen at the ending of the video. I also want to apologize for not crediting the person who took this picture, I only noticed this image when I ran into it a while back that I used it for this video without even crediting it and getting permission from the user.

I would've, but I'd prefer not to turn it off. I even tried putting a warning that the timestamp is on the video if they looked further but the timestamp comments kept on going, besides I think the video was done badly when I remade it and I would like to remake when I feel like it.

It was actually so sad that, being the US 3rd oldest TV license (turned on just 2 months after the NYC pioneers and the oldest outside of NYC) that they didn't called more into their almost 68 years of analog history too do a proper send off.
They should found a test card with the proper WPTZ (the station was founded by Philadelphia's own Philco Corp.) call sign letters it had on Day 1...
What does the sign the man at 0:39 is holding say?
It was a sign/board showing the Zappos logo, an online shoe and clothing shopping brand.
I believe it was cut off for a split second after the test pattern was shown because both formats (analog and digital) were broadcasting the same thing. I might be wrong, but hopefully any philly KYW viewers would correct me on that if I'm wrong.

So did this happen to anybody with old non digital cable boxes or just people with antannas? Because in our house at the time we had digital cable in our downstairs but not upstairs. But when the switch happened the tvs upstairs didn't go static.
Only if you used an antenna and you used an old analog only CRT TV but if you had a converter box or a digital television you were good. If you had a newer TV you could still watch the shutdown because newer tvs still have analog tuners in them as well so you'd pick up both signals.
