When you get to the end boss, use the Q key (the keyboard button for FIRE). This will force faster repetition of the shots fired. You can also maneuver left or right use the D (left), F (right) keys.
nerdyneedsalife people asking for other peoples' hard-earned money in return for entertainment rubs some the wrong way. It's that old "get a real job if you're so strapped for cash" argument.
Absolutely, if you want to donate, you're free to do so, people just I guess don't like being asked for donations. It's the difference between dropping a coin in the hat of the guy playing guitar down by the train station and that guy saying "feel free to drop a coin in the hat" between songs. No problem with donating, just with asking for it.
This is a great game! Been playing it and it’s tough to beat! I like it like that. You have to have quick reflexes and a strategy to get far in this game. I’ve gotten to the second boss but then I get killed. Didn’t realize the Q button helps with faster firing which is definitely needed with the second boss screen.
You should go wumpus hunting. I wanted to send you my TI-99 but I don't have any idea where it is and foolishly thought you may not have had one. This video makes me happy.
I'm partial to the C64 version myself. The enemy designs and behaviors are faithful to the original Atari 2600 version, plus it has nice background graphics (although the planet does make it a little hard to see the enemies when they're in front of it) and a much more fair boss fight after every few levels.
I've heard that the TI-99 version of Microsurgeon with the voice module is pretty cool as well. I have a TI-99 but haven't found a copy of Microsurgeon for it yet. I'm curious to know his take on the gameplay unless he has played the Intelly version already in the past?
It was an unbelievable game. It had the multiple screens also. It looked better than just about anything else you could have played at home back in the day. It reminds me of early 90’s PC games. I used to show it off to my friends and they were stunned to see a game that advanced.
This is kind of a beautiful game. it's got a sort of early 80s arcade aesthetic that I really like, but maybe that's part of the problem: cynically some arcade games seem to sacrifice longevity because you're going to chuck a quarter (or a 10p in the UK) in there, play for a couple of minutes, and move on to the next game, so maybe you don't need so much longevity. The absolute opposite is true on a computer though: you probably want to play for a while, so the need for variety and longevity is there. Maybe the problem is they were so caned they developed this like it was an arcade game without spotting the obvious flaw - I think you suggested something similar near the beginning of the video.
For some reason all these new reviews have different feel to it. Maybe it has to do with change of place, but I miss old setup, damn, and screaming patreon names all the time...Classic Patreon Room MK-3.
That game looks boring as hell, the gameplay is not only slower than in most shooters on the SNES (no pun nintended), also the music is so horrible that makes the "Game Over" tune of Enduro to look like the fanfare opening to Star Wars :/ It's hard for me to believe that IMAGIC did this clusterfuck since the original Demon Attack on the 2600 was a great game. And those are the guys who made Atlantis, a game so good that not only got sequels, it also got a cameo in the Eternal Champions game for the Genesis.
First: Being a "grammar nazi" doesn't help you at all, can you speak and write in another language without studing it and without the need of Google Translator?, because english is NOT my native language and still I can write it correctly most of the time, yet fuckups are a posibility. Second: Do you know that the 2600 and Pong are both from the 70's?, also do you know that both are pretty much the same?, also did you know that you can compare both by law since it is under the "free speech"? Third: Please kiddo stop being such a hard ass about something pretty stupid like someone else making a joke about a game console. Someone else would say that you look like a "nintendo fanboy" for loosing your shit about a joke between how slow Demon Attack is on the TI99 and how slow most of the shooters on the SNES are. Fourth: Next time READ THE COMMENT CAREFULLY before doing anything else.
Super Demon Attack's version of the devil boss fight looks like its from the Night on Bald Mountain segment from Fantasia.

"I made it to the eyeball once and he shot me anyway." Missed t-shirt opportunity for Imagic.
I'm sure i could create better music by just using a Casio keyboard as a skate board
MetalJesusRocks Right, do like 3 kick-flips and call it good.
It's so crappy, it's almost jazz.
Shoulda coukda woulda
+PCGamer77 Jazz and the blues created LED ZEPPLIN
MetalJesusRocks hahaha, yeah that music is ear raping, i can make better music by sliding my vingers over the piano back & forth contstantly haha.
TI-99/4a is the best. Try Parsec with the voice synthesizer!
Wow, 5 comments in and no bitchin' about Patreon, kickstarter or e-begging. Does that mean we're all friends again? Great work as usual Mark.
Oh I'm sure the entitlement will build as the video ages. \
I'm a newcomer, why did people bitch about Patreon and such?

But wouldn't it be fine to donate to a TH-camr because they're in turn providing entertainment?

Those are some awesome graphics, considering the hardware.
Sherbert's World of Schlock it’s a 16-bit computer, the graphics should be awesome!
I read somewhere that the TI-99/4a had some of the most powerful hardware for that product family.
Imagic ports were fantastic on the Ti99 4/a. They were always at a whole other level than what they were on other systems.
Demon Attack is my mom's favorite Atari 2600 game and one of my all-time favs, too.

The 2600 version was even less varied, because it didn't have a boss fight.
CarozQH I still have and occasionally play the 2600 version. Even though repetitive, is one of my favorite 2600 games.
I just had a flashback to the music from the videogame Tron, for some reason.

maybe you should try to avoid them if you can't shoot and kill them........?
STOP making sense
I had this game the cover was crazy
Demon Attack 64? That would be on the Commodore 64. =P

I think I'll have nightmares with that damn music!!!
Game looks great and has a boss. Win win

The Intellivision version is so much better than this.
Definitely...now if only I could use my Atari joystick on an Intellivision 1...
2600 superior
I remember when I used to click on a CGR review without the fucken cyborg ninja and coked up chicken on my nut bag constantly.......
you lost against cobra commander and the doom monster

Comparing it to Super Nintendo? Different decades . #CLUE
Diferent decades, diferent systems, diferent developers, same slowdowns #CLUE
+Fury Rage DIFFERENT not diferent and take you being wrong like a boy .
+Fury Rage Why dont you compare pong from the 70s to Atari 2600? Because that's retarded
