"Didn't get healed? Don't be toxic. You're not alone on the team." THAAAAAANK YOUUUUUU as a support main I've been trying to explain this to my teammates for ages. It's not that I don't help you on purpose, but there are 4 other people I also need to keep an eye on and on top of that I need to make sure I myself survive. Dead healers aren't helpful to anyone. Since I started to play more tank I realize how easy it is to just say "I nEvEr GeT hEaLs, OuR sUpPoRtS jUsT sUcK", and yeah, sometimes people aren't great. Maybe they have a bad day, haven't slept well, are getting chased by a Tracer and can't pay attention to the team... Whatever. It happens to all of us. But people not healing on purpose is really, really rare. If you're ever insecure about why you didn't get healed, check the replay from your supports perspective. Another thing I also wanna mention is that you have to tell us that you need healing soon enough then disengage from the fight as much as possible. If you keep standing in the enemy fire, I most likely won't be able to save you because you'll most likely take in more damage than I can heal. And if you only spam I need healing after you die, I can't do anything about that either. Yeah, ideally I'll see you and keep you alive with you telling me, but especially when the fight is stressful and everyone is all over the place, I can't keep an eye on everyone all the time, especially if you out of my LOS. Aaaand now I'm just rambling.
Tanks and dps need to be aware of the healers whereabouts as well. It is their job to protect them as well. I have experienced countless times when I am healer and are completely overwhelmed by a tracer of winston or someone like that. And guess what, they don't even help and then spam "I need healing" after I'm dead. As healers you do need to position yourself in a way that can avoid being cut off but sometimes your teammates care about nothing but getting the most kills.

You cant expect everyone to chase a single tracer (thats a good way to lose), but if you are not giving any value to the game, it is your fault, even if you are closed out by the enemy team. you are deliberately playing a bad matchup. As a tank I usually try to keep an eye on the enemy tracer, but way too many times i see mercy + ana combo that just get killed at the beginning of the fight, and the whole team needs to fight without healer. just switch down to brig/moira, and they cant do anything to you. even if you heal less, it is more than what you heal when you are dead
@@Ryuufu I can't disagree with that but the point I was trying to make was that the people shouldn't complain about not getting healed especially when they have put themselves in a situation where no amount of healing can outheal the damage they are taking.

It’s not that hard to carry as tank lmao, stop blaming your teammates and focus on your own play style and you’ll be fine. You also need good communication. Doesn’t matter if you have “bad dps” that won’t listen, if you at least call out who has low health and which enemy is where, they’ll make note of it.
Main tank is different, in plat down ur off tank won't cover off angles or peel, the best u can do is play slow and comm. Many times just swap to 2 offs if u can see this happen
Would love to see a video detailing Pathing decision making as a main tank. There are a ton of resources for main tanks, but none detail pathing, and it’s so important.
I think the problem is that, while there is an optimal path per map, you have to reactively change it up per match based on what your team is playing, what the enemy team is playing, where they're positioned, and what they're doing. It's a lot of situations/combinations to cover - maps, team comps, positionings, play styles. But yeah, a video detailing how to go about making those decisions, with some of the above examples would be awesome.

JTAC Bluemansonic there are diffrences but. in comp even if ur in gold bronze etc your team should win a 5 v 2 because everyone in the game should roughly be around the same skill level unless the two enemys are smurfing in elos way higher
JTAC Bluemansonic that’s all cap I play on Xbox and most smurfs are only on a smurf to play off meta heroes that they’re bad at so they aren’t even hard to deal with. I’ve never had an experience anything close to what you described.

Not trying to defend mei, but presence is not imbalanced. It's the notion of respect. Like staying out of certain areas of a map because widowmaker has LOS. Doesn't matter if she hits her shots or not. The presence of many characters forces people to play differently.
A few things: 11:56 The Mei is so ridiculously out of position that your follow-up on her was only natural. Had their Mei been appropriately behind her tanks, using her wall to slow your team down (and likely split you in half), this fight could have easily been lost regardless of your input. I wouldn't call that a carry so much as I would call it a critical error on the part of Mei. 12:30 It's quite handy that your Pharah teammate was both in the voice channel and willing to listen to your plan. It's also a fortunate thing that she didn't assume she had a free bubble and flew in to drop her ult right as you bubbled Baptiste, despite how detailed and specific your callouts may have been. Also, there was no clear imbalance between your team and the enemies. I'd be interested to see how you fare in a game against a Widowmaker who deletes your backline before you can even hope to deal with her in any way. I definitely believe there are a significant number of games that individual tank play alone cannot win, and I would say that this game was not one of them. Many things went right for you here (although you still did well to capitalize on those opportunities, of course). Certainly as far as my experience goes, this was actually one of the more fortunate situations you can be in as a tank (aside from being outright carried by one or more teammates).
I feel the same. It's cool to keep a good team spirit and all but some things her could have gone completly differently if luck wasn't on his side. 0:52 Handy that no one picked the health pack prior, with 26pv he would have been demecked and probably died to the tracer. 6:52 Just as well the tracer didn't follow up on the kill. You may be able to 1v1 with zarya at full charge but not 1v2. That flank was risky as hell and could have cost the team a huge amount of time if he had died.
Jsyk that was really good information on dva when you physically showed how that was a bad decision to go straight for mega on first point. Also do more of these and try to focus on your split second decision making such as your reasons for flanking on zarya based on enemy team and your advantages etc. great video if I had one suggestion it would be to actually tell us the damage values of combos such as full power zarya right click melee
Coach_Mills thank you man, I placed plat last season, never played any comp afterwards, this season I placed 2k on dps which is main role. I pop off hanzo and widow but somehow am just unable to secure the wins. Do you think there’s any value in playing characters such as reaper and junkrat to brute force your way into high plat where people actually start to play together and getting picks actually begins to dictate the flow of the game and my team will react accordingly to who is alive and who is not?

It’s almost impossible trying this in solo queue you get genji who rush in a die and mercy’s that only heal one team mate and an ana player who thinks she’s dps
I usually play as d.va gonna switch it up soon, but when our team is up front I sneak from the side take out the rienharts and other tanks ram them while the healers heal me so they can pull through
I had the same situation on this map a few days ago. We win 6-5, but instead of Zarya and brig we had lucio. We we’re able to eat multiple of the enemy grave enabling us to come back from fights.
In my elo we call this a "hard" game, or a "balanced game", not even near to "impossible". these kind of games are what I enjoy. impossible games are when you cant even stop the enemy advancing, your whole team just dies within 30 seconds. Make a video of hardcarrying that, with dps healers, and snipers as dps who cant aim. then we will see how a tank can carry that :P But its a good video, i specially enjoy the part you talking about countering pharah with dva. never understood how people doing it, so im gonna try next game :P
I do need help. As a sigma and orisa main. I tend to block massive damage each game utilizing my shield right but I lack aim and accuracy to carry my team.
I'd love to see a video about Roadhog, because (in mid plat) I can't find the balance between peeling and getting picks, and I don't exactly know what is my job in the team.

How do you know which hero is the best to play at a given time? Obviously like you said switching from Ball when they had a lot of CC but why the Sigma pick and not Zar or Dva again?
Definitely had a great moment as a diva . It was 5 v 6 around the first minute. And then it became a 4 v 6 since my partner lagged out. So I get a 5 k as diva and we cluth the match. It was SOO SATISFYING
In my experience, it's keeping the morale of the team. That's step one. Step two is finding the weakest player in the enemy team and exploit them. Step three is to find the strongest and zone them. Step 4 is to play a team comp that can be very effective with 5 players. For example lets say a tank player leaves mid match. A good comp there would be: DPS Soldier 76/Sombra. Tank: Winston or Orisa. Support: Lucio/Mercy or Lucio/Bap or Lucio/Zen and lastly, Ana/Mercy. Making a comp out of these heros would make it so your team is sustainable through fights and quite self sufficient to make up for a lack of a player. In this situation tho, communication is top priority next to having a win condition settled on for every fight. I've won many games this way More DPS options could be Hanzo, Junk and Sym. All have powerful damage and can really help lessen some pressure on everyone to have to preform 1000%.
The best thing about a Player leaving your team Is that the Enemy team Will get so confident And just rush to the point Even tho they dont have ults and all that. The best thing to do is Just Focus on their Healers and Their Worst player in general
One point you should really highlight to the nth degree is communication. I know you do but everyone should parrot this. This game probably would not have been winnable without the playmaking calls and the vocal morale boost. Start matches in comms and mute solo toxic players or if you notice the entire team are people "flaming" then you leaving voice chat. This will give you the opportunity to get your head back in the game. Friends in the film industry told me about a famous cinematographer who only uses a one way radio, he needs something done and it gets done or they can talk to him face to face (privately - not punishment but their debate does not become public spectacle). We do not have this luxury of private comms with our ranked teammates nor can we afford to utilize precious time for such a discussion. But one take away I get this story - that I've noticed success after incorporating this in ranked- think of comms as a one way radio when dealing with unbearably toxic players. Don't mute the toxic person then declare them muted to the rest of the team to be spiteful or to ridicule. Don't antagonize or counter bully before or after you mute them. Remember, these are still your teammates in battle. While in the thick of war do you really choose to bicker and bully those responsible with watching your back? Hell no. We are in battle together, unify in our cause and treat each other as you wish to be treated. Be positive, track ults, callout players out of position and set up plays after muting the person. And be nice. Think about it another way. Image if you worked at Walgreens or Cvs and you're having a shitty day. Now in one world a semi-toxic customer walks in. They don't openly bully but they're slightly passive-aggressive - think OW ranked. But in another world a positive tryhard enters instead. Now lets say they both have a problem finding their item and you realize the only way to get that item is for you to go in the back and dig through an unorganized mess to potentially retrieve their item. Which of these two customers are you more likely to fully assist? Which customer are you being inside your ranked matches?
I can play every tank hero, but in competitives I only play reind, as my friends don't know how to play any other tank hero but zarya, and I know the importance of stopping enemy reind's ult
Well I was playing the other day and my team was so bad that our healers decided to play as a damage healer so I asked for healing lots of times but no one was healing and no one was getting heals and we lost and at the end of the game the healer called me toxic like what the hell :)(just so you know I don't speak I use the voice lines in game)

I'm having a hard time putting together any consistent guidance from this video. It seems like 5-6 vignettes about this-time-I-did-this-wonderful-thing-as-a-Tank, but there doesn't seem to be any common thread. I totally might just be too obtuse to get it, but if anyone can summarize the takeaways, I'd appreciate it.
It kinda was all over the place, more kinda of a vod review thing. But the main part is, don't give because a match seems unwinnable. As someone who started in bronze and climbed to plat, when people give up and just troll is a huge difference throughout the ranks, in bronze getting killed with 4 ults is "unwinnable, trash team, leaving", in Plat its "ha wasted their ults ez clap" (mostly^^) And then do your job well as tank, enable your team by looking what makes them problems and using your kit to negate it a.e eating pharah rockets, zoning Mei,...
Keep up mentality, recognize potential impact and whether you can turn the fight, know who to shut down, basically get people to understand what goes through the mind of a good player so people stop looking at their screen and feeling like gods.
I dont know how i never had a blaming team as tank if i am playing since 2018 or 2019, i dont remember ,also,need a dva guide,i sometimes use my ult and only kill one or nobody, and my max kills with dva ult is 4
I’ve been in gold as tank but play for supp and dps. My rank as tank is always gold and I play all tanks. It’s pretty sad but I do enjoy playing tank and I win most of my games as tank compared to dps. I Mained rein up until the sig and Orissa comp rised up, but then I came back to rein and dive after the nerf. Overall, I’m just confused on gold tank.
^^^if ur not confirming kills quickly ur feeding so much ult charge and offering little value to your main tank. Being smart with map and working with pull/piledrive are the only ways hog is viable past silver
That's why he said it caused a distraction. Ana had to sleep the Phara, and thus was not healing or paying attention to her placement and they were able to capitalize on that and win the team fight.
When you play shield tank, orisa or sigma and you put up your shield yet no one stays behind the shield and rushes to their death and your the only one who stays alive and on point for a while
Meanwhile the Dva on my team is charging into the entire enemy team while spamming voice lines and then screaming that the DPS need to pick hitscan to counter Pharah in comms.
I got one hard truth from years of experience at OverWatch. Goodluck climbing alone because the matchmaking is bound and determined to lock you into a 50% win rate and it will go to extreme lengths to force you too carry five of your teammates all while dominating six opponents the entire game. Not only that it will take an absurd amount of points no matter if you have all the gold medals for eliminations & damage. It will still take way too many points. This is what they expect people to deal with in competitive. Sounds fun doesn't it? I think the hero pools is going to be a good attempt to remedy this but it's going to fall short in my opinion. And so anyone here who reads this & thinks that I'm not serious. Ask anyone who's placed gold or above what it takes to get there Straight out of placements. It takes carrying five other players 5 games while dominating at least two teams of six stacked against you now imagine what that means this is just to get to gold this is the middle of the ladder guys. 30 + elims a game & 20K damage a game minimum every placement matched fair or not this is what they expect of you. I couldn't believe it myself so I bought multiple accounts just to be sure that I was not confused.

50 Elims with genji I had to carry my whole team thank goodeness the enemy team didn’t know wat to do against genji they had sigma Orisa Ashe tracer mercy and Moira my teammates were a bunch of bots I dragonblade and focused on the healers especially mercy I make sure Moira doesn’t have fade and the rest is clean up for me
Do you cover up your rank because this is actually a quick play match and people aren't taking it seriously. 2:28 you can see that this is a quickplay match.
Apologizing or admitting fault when you don’t need to can have an even worse impact. People end up thinking like they have to play better to make up for the guy who’s making mistakes.
Odds are you did some things to contribute to that. Medals and kills don't tell the whole story...not even close. It's easy to get high kills with a tank because you're going to be poking at every hero that dies for the most part. It's easy to get tons of kills and medals as D. Va in particular without actually contributing anything impactful. For all we know you could have been uselessly plinking away for 2 damage a shot at long range not really doing anything but getting a tag on enemies before they died. In fact, it's quite possible that having a super high kill count (ESPECIALLY as D. Va) while your DPS doesn't indicates that you weren't really doing what you should have been doing. If you want to climb and win more games, stop blaming your team and look at what you could have done better. You will never be able to control your teammates and everyone always has things they could have done better in a game, so instead of pissing in the wind about "MUH TEAM SUCKS" start looking at what you actually CAN change and improve - your own gameplay.

What helped me from climbing out of gold was playing zaria and using my ult when my team was in spawn while I had 37/100 ammo and no charge

I had the same situation on this map a few days ago. We win 6-5, but instead of Zarya and brig we had lucio. We we’re able to eat multiple of the enemy grave enabling us to come back from fights.
In my elo we call this a "hard" game, or a "balanced game", not even near to "impossible". these kind of games are what I enjoy. impossible games are when you cant even stop the enemy advancing, your whole team just dies within 30 seconds. Make a video of hardcarrying that, with dps healers, and snipers as dps who cant aim. then we will see how a tank can carry that :P
But its a good video, i specially enjoy the part you talking about countering pharah with dva. never understood how people doing it, so im gonna try next game :P

In my experience, it's keeping the morale of the team. That's step one. Step two is finding the weakest player in the enemy team and exploit them. Step three is to find the strongest and zone them. Step 4 is to play a team comp that can be very effective with 5 players. For example lets say a tank player leaves mid match. A good comp there would be: DPS Soldier 76/Sombra. Tank: Winston or Orisa. Support: Lucio/Mercy or Lucio/Bap or Lucio/Zen and lastly, Ana/Mercy.
Making a comp out of these heros would make it so your team is sustainable through fights and quite self sufficient to make up for a lack of a player. In this situation tho, communication is top priority next to having a win condition settled on for every fight.
I've won many games this way
More DPS options could be Hanzo, Junk and Sym. All have powerful damage and can really help lessen some pressure on everyone to have to preform 1000%.

One point you should really highlight to the nth degree is communication. I know you do but everyone should parrot this. This game probably would not have been winnable without the playmaking calls and the vocal morale boost.
Start matches in comms and mute solo toxic players or if you notice the entire team are people "flaming" then you leaving voice chat. This will give you the opportunity to get your head back in the game.
Friends in the film industry told me about a famous cinematographer who only uses a one way radio, he needs something done and it gets done or they can talk to him face to face (privately - not punishment but their debate does not become public spectacle). We do not have this luxury of private comms with our ranked teammates nor can we afford to utilize precious time for such a discussion. But one take away I get this story - that I've noticed success after incorporating this in ranked- think of comms as a one way radio when dealing with unbearably toxic players. Don't mute the toxic person then declare them muted to the rest of the team to be spiteful or to ridicule. Don't antagonize or counter bully before or after you mute them.
Remember, these are still your teammates in battle. While in the thick of war do you really choose to bicker and bully those responsible with watching your back? Hell no. We are in battle together, unify in our cause and treat each other as you wish to be treated. Be positive, track ults, callout players out of position and set up plays after muting the person. And be nice.
Think about it another way. Image if you worked at Walgreens or Cvs and you're having a shitty day.
Now in one world a semi-toxic customer walks in. They don't openly bully but they're slightly passive-aggressive - think OW ranked. But in another world a positive tryhard enters instead.
Now lets say they both have a problem finding their item and you realize the only way to get that item is for you to go in the back and dig through an unorganized mess to potentially retrieve their item. Which of these two customers are you more likely to fully assist?
Which customer are you being inside your ranked matches?

Just a question, what if my tank partner only plays zarya? Should I swap from reind to another tank? even if we can't stop enemy's reind ults?
I can play every tank hero, but in competitives I only play reind, as my friends don't know how to play any other tank hero but zarya, and I know the importance of stopping enemy reind's ult
Well I was playing the other day and my team was so bad that our healers decided to play as a damage healer so I asked for healing lots of times but no one was healing and no one was getting heals and we lost and at the end of the game the healer called me toxic like what the hell :)(just so you know I don't speak I use the voice lines in game)

Whenever the enemies are in a huge lead they get cocky so me and my friends play around it and we can barrel through points
Also Sigma is really good because he can do almost everything he has a shield he can stun and he can eat things

I'm having a hard time putting together any consistent guidance from this video. It seems like 5-6 vignettes about this-time-I-did-this-wonderful-thing-as-a-Tank, but there doesn't seem to be any common thread. I totally might just be too obtuse to get it, but if anyone can summarize the takeaways, I'd appreciate it.

But the main part is, don't give because a match seems unwinnable.
As someone who started in bronze and climbed to plat, when people give up and just troll is a huge difference throughout the ranks, in bronze getting killed with 4 ults is "unwinnable, trash team, leaving", in Plat its "ha wasted their ults ez clap" (mostly^^)
And then do your job well as tank, enable your team by looking what makes them problems and using your kit to negate it a.e eating pharah rockets, zoning Mei,...
Keep up mentality, recognize potential impact and whether you can turn the fight, know who to shut down, basically get people to understand what goes through the mind of a good player so people stop looking at their screen and feeling like gods.
I dont know how i never had a blaming team as tank if i am playing since 2018 or 2019, i dont remember ,also,need a dva guide,i sometimes use my ult and only kill one or nobody, and my max kills with dva ult is 4
I’ve been in gold as tank but play for supp and dps. My rank as tank is always gold and I play all tanks. It’s pretty sad but I do enjoy playing tank and I win most of my games as tank compared to dps. I Mained rein up until the sig and Orissa comp rised up, but then I came back to rein and dive after the nerf. Overall, I’m just confused on gold tank.

^^^if ur not confirming kills quickly ur feeding so much ult charge and offering little value to your main tank. Being smart with map and working with pull/piledrive are the only ways hog is viable past silver

That's why he said it caused a distraction. Ana had to sleep the Phara, and thus was not healing or paying attention to her placement and they were able to capitalize on that and win the team fight.

When you play shield tank, orisa or sigma and you put up your shield yet no one stays behind the shield and rushes to their death and your the only one who stays alive and on point for a while
Meanwhile the Dva on my team is charging into the entire enemy team while spamming voice lines and then screaming that the DPS need to pick hitscan to counter Pharah in comms.

I got one hard truth from years of experience at OverWatch. Goodluck climbing alone because the matchmaking is bound and determined to lock you into a 50% win rate and it will go to extreme lengths to force you too carry five of your teammates all while dominating six opponents the entire game. Not only that it will take an absurd amount of points no matter if you have all the gold medals for eliminations & damage. It will still take way too many points. This is what they expect people to deal with in competitive. Sounds fun doesn't it? I think the hero pools is going to be a good attempt to remedy this but it's going to fall short in my opinion. And so anyone here who reads this & thinks that I'm not serious. Ask anyone who's placed gold or above what it takes to get there Straight out of placements. It takes carrying five other players 5 games while dominating at least two teams of six stacked against you now imagine what that means this is just to get to gold this is the middle of the ladder guys. 30 + elims a game & 20K damage a game minimum every placement matched fair or not this is what they expect of you. I couldn't believe it myself so I bought multiple accounts just to be sure that I was not confused.

50 Elims with genji I had to carry my whole team thank goodeness the enemy team didn’t know wat to do against genji they had sigma Orisa Ashe tracer mercy and Moira my teammates were a bunch of bots I dragonblade and focused on the healers especially mercy I make sure Moira doesn’t have fade and the rest is clean up for me
Do you cover up your rank because this is actually a quick play match and people aren't taking it seriously. 2:28 you can see that this is a quickplay match.

I just had a 53k game as dva and my team still manages to lose, feels bad.
Odds are you did some things to contribute to that. Medals and kills don't tell the whole story...not even close. It's easy to get high kills with a tank because you're going to be poking at every hero that dies for the most part. It's easy to get tons of kills and medals as D. Va in particular without actually contributing anything impactful.
For all we know you could have been uselessly plinking away for 2 damage a shot at long range not really doing anything but getting a tag on enemies before they died. In fact, it's quite possible that having a super high kill count (ESPECIALLY as D. Va) while your DPS doesn't indicates that you weren't really doing what you should have been doing.
If you want to climb and win more games, stop blaming your team and look at what you could have done better. You will never be able to control your teammates and everyone always has things they could have done better in a game, so instead of pissing in the wind about "MUH TEAM SUCKS" start looking at what you actually CAN change and improve - your own gameplay.
