    Funny the 38 are much much faster and easier to get a point,

    I'm quite sad about giving up traditions at our beloved table tennis. Now we have a plastic ball, which is neither round nor robust, but hard to spin. Though I did not stop enjoying the game, it has become quite "dull" and a little bit more boring. In addition we have to look at the opponent playing with blue rubbers. It feels like someone is joking about our sport.

      @@ruffianeo3418 It just simply stopped being worth making. The process for making it was deemed inefficient, was prone to catching on fire and aged like milk with "Discolor[ing] and crack[ing] with age". the other plastics became much easier to work with.

      @@ruffianeo3418 remember there were two big changes…. First was change of 38mm celluloid ball to 40mm celluloid ball. Next change was 40m celluloid balls to 40mm plastic balls. I believe this video is using 38mm celluloid balls.
