David Hasslehoff did a good job as a villain. I wish he had done more anti hero type roles.
I love how Goliath sounds like a Godzilla when it runs over cop cars and flies off a cliff and drowns. 🤣

@@FirstDan2000 I would say the former because the same sound is made by the big juggernaut vehicle at the end of season 4 episode 1. So apparently both Goliath and the juggernaut vehicle had a button where the effect could be played thru some external quad speakers
When I was 8 years old this was the greatest show ever on TV. Now the “Goliath “ episodes are the most unbelievable episodes of the most unbelievable show to ever air.

@@AndrewChapman Actually, a great thing would have been if KARR's brain was put into Goliath's body. Remember, in the final KARR episode, when the body, was destroyed, the last shot was of KARR's still-functional brain. If somehow Garthe had somehow survived going over the cliff, and rebuilt Goliath, he could have done that (put KARR's brain into Goliath's body). That would have been epic!
It happened in a pc game actually, with cinematics and a version had voice overs.

Revisiting all these scenes again, I've come to realize that Hasselhoff's portrayal of Garthe is a timeless work of art. A Shakespeare-esque, larger than life character who embodies the spirit of Cain in an unprecedented way.

This is the Hoff turning in the Killer charm. I love his scenes with himself as Michael Knight. He plays the role with such relish.

Oh the scene where garth tells rita about finding her brother dead in the desert, that cold look he gives as he turns to walk away? chills!. Chilled me as a kid. Garth crying about wilton giving michael getting everything, Like "Dude you and your moms committing atrocities and you expect keys to the knight kingdom?" lol Ann turkel was one of my favorite villains in the series, she was very charming, decisive and her eyes give a seductive yet "ima kill you when i'm done with you" vibe lol but yet i was crushing on her hard whenever she appeared. I wonder what she's doing today i'd love to hear about her experience on the show.

@@INFAMOUSLSG when I first saw the series back in the day as a 10 year old when it first aired, I only vaguely remembered Knight in Retreat and there may be a reason, that was a few years before the hormones kicked in . And that's what is so rewarding about watching these today 😍

Garthe is one of the greatest villains of all time. The way he carries himself, his wit and ego make him memorable and deadly. Gotta love him! :)
These clips just go to show how versatile an actor David Hasselhoff was. He made Michael Knight his own but when he played Garth it was like looking at a different person. It was so hard to believe that Michael Knight and Garth were played by the same person!

I've always had a certain amount of respect for an actor who can play dual roles like this. David hasselhoff isn't exactly an award-winning actor, but you have to give him credit for doing a pretty good job as Garth Knight!

In middle English it meant "an enclosed quadrangle or yard" - it was later used as a last name for people who worked in gardens or lived close to it and then as a first name.

from what I've read they actually thought about doing that for season 3 KITT vs KARR episode but the Hoff declined because he actually wanted to be paid for all the overtime needed to do 2 roles... anyway it was cheaper to hire the 2 teenage actors for that episode so it is what it is

While I agree that would have been an awesome episode joining up Karr and Garthe, bs Michael and Kitt... I can also understand David's point of view that he wanted to get paid for basically playing 2 different characters opposite each other, and the producers refusing to pay extra. It's very time consuming to do that and overtime means it would cut into his personal time when he was already supposed to be off from shooting a regular day and leaving the set to have some time to himself. Which leaves the Question, I wonder if the previous 2 times he played Garthe, if he got paid extra for 2 roles or if he was only paid for one.

I like it, Garthe somehow survived the impact on the water driving off the cliff in Goliath, and floated away unconsciously and washed up on a beach, where he was injured and made his way to mexico to recuperate & plan his revenge. But it took him a long time to do so having to start from nothing again.

The character of Garthe Knight (David Hasselhoff in a duel role) is the son of Wilton Knight and Elizabeth Knight and the brother of Jennifer Knight.
Garthe's appearance is almost identical to Michael Knight except that Garthe has a moustache and a small beard. The reason why Garthe looks like Michael is because Wilton Knight changed Michael Long's face to look like Garthe when he created the new identity "Michael Knight."
Because of it, Garthe hated Michael with a passion as he saw him as a living, breathing insult and replacement by his father.
He is the complete opposite to Michael Knight, he would happily kill Devon Miles (someone he hates, who Michael actually likes.) Where Michael was confident, self-assured, and heroic; Garthe was an arrogant bully who looked down on others. He despised weakness, and always craved for power and control. He preferred direct methods over subtlety.

Before acting in Baywatch series, David Hasselhoff must have enjoyed playing this character with all the steamy kisses. Hehehe.

Oh no, it's the sinister Michael Knight. With a fake moustache, goatee and a bad attitude to match.
The beard was equally bad.
It would have taken a week or 2 of delaying production if he had to wait for the Mustache and Soul Patch to grow naturally and film all the Garthe scenes of the episode then shave it off and redo all the scenes now as Michael. And a single day delayed when in the production phase, back then, could cost $100,000 per day, because you have equipment and dozens of crew members who were part of the production team who would be just sitting around doing nothing but eat and sleep waiting because the star decided to grow a real beard instead of putting on a 5 minute fake mustache with glue.

A message for Garthe: If you want to overload the electrical circuitry you will have to fit some shorting connections near the end of each circuit, and bypass the circuit breakers so they don't trip. That should cause a fire in no time.
I estimate about a day's work and in 80s prices would do it for $1000. But you provide overnight accommodation.

Is Garth the equivalent of C.A.R.R. as a man? I wish he had had more scenes that showed his evil side in every day scenarios, like him buying groceries at Walmart or an evil visit to the chiropractor.

I liked April, but still a pity Bonnie was absent throughout Season 2 and never got to meet Garthe. Imagine her slapping him like April does at 5:04. Though I suppose tbf, Bonnie dealt with KARR, so April therefore got to deal with Garthe.
Technically Garth IS NOT Michael Knight's twin. Anyone remember he's actually Michael Long and was given a facelift to look like Garth. So genetically they are two different people.

The one thing that didn't make sense was that Garth & dear Mother had tons of money from Wilton Knight. (Alot) & they didn't need to spend a ton of it to build that truck, kill Important scientist. Buy all the chemicals for the "Shell". & steal missions to sell. (Not to mention getting caught) They could've lived out their lives somewhat quietly.
I would think after the Divorce Wilton would have paid off his wife so she had money. But Garthe committed a crime and was in prison in Africa so Wilton cut him out from his life completely and then found Michael and made him into what he wanted his biological son to be.
