  • In 2022, much of our time was spent immersing ourselves in conversations around public commons, the separation of nature and culture, of land and water and our kinship with non humans. In particular, how has #waste as a category consumed our imaginations and taken over our spaces, especially plastic and #ewaste and how does this interact with aesthetics in liberal cities and ideas of obsolescence?
We were pleased to carry those conversations forward into the new year at a physical event at the lovely Literati Bookshop and Cafe in Calangute, Goa.
Dark 'n' Light founder Susan Mathews was in conversation with architect and environmentalist Dean D'Cruz and transdisciplinary artist and designer, Waylon D'Souza followed by a viewing of our film Leonia, visualised by Gourav Ogale and narrated by Professor Jisha Menon. The film was inspired by Italo Calvino’s fabulist tales of invisible cities, and the invisibility or visibility of waste.
