    Thanks for the video. I bought my first set in December. HO AFX years ago. One of the first things I did was to add the boarders. Putting the Carrera guardrails on the very outside. That gets rid of unfair advantage by riding the guardrail. I am upgrading my controllers to Truespeed ones. I liked those the best for use and price. Magnets are all going to be gone soon. Make the car work on the track not the track for the car(within reason) Still working out the tires I want to use. I will probably stay rubber. I have more non Carrera cars than Carrera. Chipping them with the Slottechnik chip allows for better placement of the infrared light than is on the Carrera chip. 12.5mm to the right of the guide. Drift affects the lane switching much less and I am finding I don’t require the straight before the changer. I am working on converting my Carrera chips to this configuration. Eventually I will post a video on this after doing an array of different cars.

      Thank you for watching. Once the new layout is sorted out I will start working on my carrera cars a few at a time. SlotR did a good video recently his IROC one is worth a watch and something I am going to use as a baseline set up.

      You might want to consider urethane tires if running without magnets. Learn to make your own, it’s pretty easy (and cheaper).

      @@johncahill3644 I'll have to look into making them. I have been slowly switching to Paul guage as that's what we run at the shop. They do work better on the carrera track than stock tires for sure.

    Nice video.
    I'm also not long in the hobby and have made the same decision as you..
    Truspeed controller
    An Axel Box
    Borders around the track.
    Great advice to every beginner
    In my opinion, the borders add a lot to racing.

    I am new to the digital Carrea world as well. Moved from HO. I fully agree on X-over's. I want the hairpin. But same issue there. Sooner or later someone is going to de-slot and or crash. Also agreed on the better controller! Waiting on my shoulders to round my track out. Drifting is fun!
    good video, race on!

    Excellent video! I love all of the Carrera products, and those borders are fantastic. I keep saying I'll pick up one of the digital/analog boxes, and going to have to do so. Is it just me, but I feel very intimidated by that hook sticking out in front of the crossover- be careful, Lol!

    • @simonsays171
      @simonsays171  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lol. Yeah no accidents just yet and shorts pockets still intact. A better solution is needed longterm though.
      I love being able to drive the other manufacturers cars. At 40 bucks per digital conversion/chip the cost of the box pays for itself pretty quickly.

    Thanks for the info. I haven’t really nailed down what I want to do there. The 1 wooden track I visit only allows foam tires or rubber. I haven’t decided on whether to add the analog option to my track. I have a few cars for the wooden track and I have been chipping the other cars for home.

      Hey Jonniehobby! Thanks for watching man picked up many tips from your channel! The local club runs 1/24 Hardbody Nascar so I am putting one together. Just got the body painted and now for the waterside decals. The H&R chassis with foam tires runs well can't wait to finish up the body and have the whole car going around. I'll have to post a video when done!

    Get rid of the guardrails and add shoulders. Adds so much more to racing. Takes away the advantage of the outside lane. Add the catch fence to prevent cars flying off!!

    Thanks for the video. I don't think I will ever do a layout with plastic track rather spend the money for a custom wood layout. I know the cost is high but it's not like I am without talent.... the cars slapping the sections drives me crazy. The inner and outer lane issue is also solved but not de slotting. That has been part of slot car racing since it's inception.

    • @simonsays171
      @simonsays171  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching. There are Pros and cons with both. Plastic is great for temporary set up and playing with layouts. Not to mention easy for digital and racing more than 2 cars. Wood is not really suitable for temporary set up, difficult to implement digital lane changers can not adjust layouts. Each have their place I feel.

    Hi, are you running at full speed yet? The 1/32 comes with lower power 'high speed' and the 1/24 converts the track to 'full-speed' running at 18v, really interested as the scalextric track doesn't seem to have moved on since the 70's and has probs got worse with cheaper plastics and cheaper metal in the rails

    • @simonsays171
      @simonsays171  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Dreamcee I run the carrera cars at full speed in stock form. They perform well but thinking of upgrading the tires and pulling out the magnets.
      The revo slot group b cars I run at power level 6/10 which I guess is about 7 or 8 volts. Works really well for these cars.
      The cars I race at the shop I run at 8 or 9 out of 10 as the shop I race at race on 11 volts.
      I like the speed adjustment as all the cars handle differently with different levels of traction and motor power. So it helps to find a nice level.
      I had scalextric last in 2002. This carrera track is far better quality and to be honest the cars are also better made. It does take up more room than scalextric as corners are a larger radius. But I would get carrera again in a heart beat. Especially if you think you want to try 1:24. I don't have a 124 other than the Nascar H&R kit and that has a 12V motor so I haven't had the need to buy the uprated power supply yet.
