I think it's funny how so many people who listen to Anti-Flag's songs don't understand the band. These guys aren't anarchist, they are just saying something is wrong and needs to be fixed.
Listening to Anti-Flag, to me, has helped me raise more awareness around the world, about what is going in many other countries, as well as politics. I just kinda get annoyed with all that, because I know a bunch of people who talk about it ALL THE TIME D: So yeah, I know, and thank you! Time has really shown how much this song represents a double-edged sword. When I heard it in college I thought about it in a positive light in the context of grassroots movements and keeping information open. You asked what was more punk...not what is the safest. Sure we do need social control but giving up liberties and rights for "protection" is absurd(to an extent). Bernie sanders is in no way "Punk" nor what punk represents (I use that term very lightly). Giving up the right to bear arms of law-abiding citizens does not protect people. Forcing people to pay for social programs that are not a necessity such as higher education is an absurd waste of money. Not only do students make their own choice to go to college but they blindly waste money on classes that do not progress their education and cheat to get through. There are more options than taking classes for college (CLEPS/DSSTS/ACE CREDITS) where students can self-learn at a fraction of the cost, but they would rather get handouts from the government or go into large amounts of student debt (WHYYYYYY). No to mention there are millions of dollars in scholarship out there. Want a free education, earn it. Also, as an alternative, there is a high demand for trades, no one needs to go to college. (education should be a state issue, not federal by the way) Monopolizing health care to make it a government asset is as close as it gets to fraud, why would a healthy man who visits the hospital twice a year pay the same as a married couple with 3 kids to get the same coverage. ( not to mention what would stop the hospitals from jacking up prices of everything) Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the republican party is "punk" either, both sides are far from it. If there had to be a "punk" party it would probably be the libertarian party.
