I skimmed the comments, all I have to say is this: Those who try to define punk to a specific definition, are not punk. Those who say that they're 'more punk' than another, are not punk. Those who say that because they've gone to certain shows or listen to certain punk music that somehow that makes them a punk, are not punk. Punk is rebellion against the social norm by whatever means you choose.

The lyrics "non commie" are actually intended "non-commy" referring to non-conformism, rather than something resembling better dead than red. The writer of these lyrics, who you may recognize for songs like I ain't got no home in this world anymore and this land is your land, was union man, communist drifter, americana folk singer, Woody Guthrie. Have a good eleven more years.
