Nice rig, I'm using the same cam boom arms, they work great! I'm going on season #4 with my Lynx, and I am completely happy with it. I fish 3-5 times a week, mostly rivers and small impoundments, the Lynx is a BOSS.
Wishlist. A waterproof, hard, lightweight front storage box that would also split taller waves like a traditional bow. The back of the box could have drawer access, and maybe a nav/dock lights option.
Great vid mate. I lost my ruler from water at the Hobie Round at the GC. I just put a small H rail off the seat and put my tackle bucket off that. Sunstate Hobie have a article on that.
Great video mate - I remember leaving our spot after you at the AFT Tuggerah lakes round. It was white capping from a 20k+ southerly and I was amazed that you had no dramas being out in that. Definitely a good option for someone that doesn’t enjoy moving around a 60kg kayak.
Looks great mate. I have a PA12 (180 drive) and a Sport. The sport is nice for small creeks but getting a little too small for me, the PA is great but a pain to get on and off the roof, and it doesn't turn all that well especially in tight spaces. I reckon if they made the Lynx with a 360 drive, that would be the ultimate for me, because I only use the kayak for bass fishing or the like around tight structure, and keeping the nose pointing where I want it is a challenge especially for fly fishing....great review, thanks!
Cheers Peachy. My first Hobie was a Sport. A 360 option on the Lynx would be awesome for bassin', Just not sure it'll eventuate though. I'm sure I read somewhere that the sideways thrust might topple you over in the lighter kayaks. I think that's why the Outback doesn't have it either.
Hi carl enjoy your videos you didn't mention the h rails do you think they sre essential? Im thinking of getting the lynx for the light weight bit worried about its durability i can get an ex aft compass fully decked out with sounder an all the goodys for 5500 what are your thoughts?
Glad you enjoy them Stuart. I guess it dependss on what you plan to do with the yak. If you want to start competing in the tournaments, the complete package with the Compass is pretty hard to beat. But if that is not your goal, then I'd probably go for the Lynx due to its versatility. It's so easy to load and launch. Plus for me it's more stable to stand up on than the compass. It is more prone to bumps and scratches though but with a bit of simple care ie using a piece of carpet or a towel on the ground when standing it on its side, you shouldn't have a problem. And H-rails for me are a definite, purely for mounting other bits of kit to the yak ie sounder, rod holder, tackle bin, etc. Plus it gives you something else to grab onto for loading/unloading the yak.
Hi Carl - great video! I’ve got a Lynx too and this video gives me a template to set up. A question though - what Lowrance sounder are you running - it looks like an Elite FS, but can’t see the model number?
Hi Carl I’ve crossed paths with you in Oyster Bay 10 years ago in my Outback. I’ve just sold my. Quinny tinny and looking to buy a lynx soon. Would love to have a chat with you about fit out from the dealer. I’m back in the country this weekend so hope to touch base🙏🏻 Rob J
@@CarlDubois Thanks. I get similar with a Elite FS 7. Voltage seems to drop off quickly after about 5 hours constant use with sidescan & downscan runnning simultaneously.

Great idea. I'm playing around with something that'll fit on my cooler bag on the front to help divert water and spray.

Thanks Phil, and good tip there too. Cheers.
@@CarlDubois I also use a paddle board paddle sits nicer at the back and handle does not go past the seat.
Glad you still enjoy your Lynx.
I had mine going on 3 years now. Still handles like a champ. Tight lines from Rhode Island.
Yep, still loving it vannlam1322. And say hi to everyone in Rhode Island for me please! 😎
Superb video Carl, you sold me, I'd love one!
Cheers Joe. And do it, get one. You won't regret it.
Great video Carl ! Just bought that cooler bag too. Got the Sidebro's for the seat and they are awesome.
Thanks Fordy. The cooler bag is excellent. No Sidebro's yet but they are on the wish list for me.
Love my Lynx Carl. Thanks for sharing mate. Might see you in Forster 👍🏻
Cheers Mick. They're a bloody awesome piece of kit, that's for sure. Fingers crossed you make it to Forster.
Another great video for the Lynx Carl. You convinced me in your earlier videos, so now I own one as well. Thanks.
Thanks Graeme. I'm hoping you are enjoying your Lynx as much as I enjoy mine. I love it!
Just brought a lynx can’t wait to take her out on the water ! Great video Carl !
Thanks Anthony. You will absolutely love it. It's such a great fishing platform.
Great video Carl! Very informative and it’s even got me contemplating trading in the PA 😝
Thanks Abz. But don't sell the PA, juts buy a Lynx to go with it! 😎
@@CarlDubois Might be an option in future 🤔

Ha ha, thanks Jamie. Yeah, she certainly was blowing that day. 🤣
Thanks for sharing carl ... you definitely have the Lynx decked out well 👍
No worries David. And yeah, I've got her set up just how I like it...
Brought one after watching your earlier video on it, absolutely love it. Thanks for making your videos mate.
Awesome news wahnjai1, glad you're loving it. And you're welcome! 😊
Great video Carl 👌🏻👍🏻
Thanks James.
Great video mate... Also I've tried that with a PA14 and it's not fun 😅
Cheers Johnathon. Ooh, next comp I'll video you doing it! 👍
Great job as always. When are we going out so that you can take another picture of me fishing in one so that I can get it put into another kayak book.
Ha, one trip in a yak and you make it into a book. Jammy bugga. 😂

@CarlDubois thanks carl yes the ease of loading is a big plus for me

Thanks Matthew. My sounder is an Elite 7Ti, so it's quite a few years old. It's actually due for an upgrade but it's been a great sounder.

G'day Rob. Great to hear from you. Glad to assist with any questions you may have. Reach out to me on Facebook or Messenger and we'll chat. cheers.
How long do you get out of your FPV battery with the Lowrance sounder?
G'day Mark. I get a full comp day out of it, so at least 7 hours on the water. Haven't tested it longer than that.
@@CarlDubois Thanks. I get similar with a Elite FS 7. Voltage seems to drop off quickly after about 5 hours constant use with sidescan & downscan runnning simultaneously.
I need a rotomolded Lynx so bad
Ooh, how good would that be!!!
