THANK YOU!! I just bought a label printer and pulled out the first label I printed, which pulled out the ink tape. This video helped me fix the cartridge! 🎉👏
Wow thank you heaps!! My child just broke it and I was able to at least save the last half of a near new tape. I knew there would be a way and was going to deconstruct myself either way but this video meant I didn’t have to worry so much about breaking it when pulling apart or if springs were going to fly out from goodness knows where, like some other things I’ve opened 🤣. So easy!
Thank you. Because of your video I was able to save my cartridge and not waste it, I did consider tossing it and glad I thought to look up how to fix a tape cartridge. Thanks again.
Finally decided to use my label maker after a year. I thought the cassette was faulty until I found your video. I was able to fix it and it works great. Thank you for the detailed video
After successfully fixing my tape cartridge i only printed out few labels and ran out of tape. :( i ordered new cartridge for $2 and it showed up at my door few days later. It was still fun learning. Thanks again.
This was just what I was looking for! You did a great job of explaining without using words! One request, that you create a drawing of the cassette after you take the lid off. You could mark all the little plastic pieces where each tape label goes and the directions that the wheels turn. I did it for myself because I'm a visual person and wanted to see how it all works.
Thank you very much for this valuable video. Just i brought P touch E550W. And I got jammed my sample cartridge. But i resolve it from following your video. Thanks again. Keep it up.
Thanks so much. I was getting ready to toss my cartridges into the trash I was so frustrated and your fix did the trick! Literally, they came wonky right out of the packaging. Very easy to follow along and fix!
Thank you so much for posting this video! You saved me time and money not having to purchase a new cartridge when the existing one still had a lot of life left in it!
Nice job! Managed to fix the cartridge thanks to this video! My one didnt have the little clips and was just held together with friction and eased apart nicely. Very fidley job though!
Really great! Would have loved to see where the little spring on the green wheel goes tho. Pretty sure I figured it out, but that would have been extra helpful. All in all great vid. Thanks!
Wow! that was a great video. Everything worked out great. A couple of tips. Be sue you tape the black tape the right way so that the small metal clip on the green wheel ends up being on the bottom.
Excellent video - because I had a 24mm tape - out of the box - and jammed. Mainly - because the thin black color-tape fell off the reel (so it wasn't rolling it up). I looked at the video - mainly to get an idea how to open it - and what expects me inside :-) THEN also - how the tapes/reels need to look - as my 'green'-reel was empty ... THEN - I've done pretty much - the steps in the video ... ONE ugly thing what happens towards the end is, that the white adhesive tape - got in touch with the thin colour tape. happened several times - until I figured out what's the reason (tensioning the color-tape rewind reel) To prevent the adhesive roll picking up the color-tape - simply put 4cm of transparent tape onto the adhesive side. This way - the thick adhesive roll won't be able to 'pick up' the color-tape ... Makes re-assembly way easier. When reassembled - just pull out that part of the tape, which isn't 'sticky' - DONE - WORKS :-)
Fixing the cartridge on the label maker was a great way to spend an hour on the night shift xD thanks for the tutorial so it didn't have to be thrown away
Thank you! This helped me repair my cartridge, so it was really helpful. I wanted to point out that there's another catch between the two that you pointed out at 1.08 and 1.10! You have to access it from the underside. Not really critical as forcing the case open should be able to pop it. Using sticky tape to hold down those pesky bits was also a great tip!
Thanks for your time and effort in posting this!!! A challenge, but now I have my lovely gold on premium sparkly white back :) My tape was a compatible btw. To other viewers.. take a photo at the end while your cassette is open.
this is exactly what i was looking for. i was on a chat with brother support and they could tell me nothing! not even why this happens, its like choosing menu > clear on the device changes the cartridge permanently like! without any warning that you can't go back and there is nothing explaining the function on their website faq's or the manual! a defintie floor of the brother cartridge on tpz tapes! just hope brother watch this and do something about it!
Thank you for taking the time to do this. You are saving money for a lot of us. Kinda shows that there’s a problem with these cartridges...and they’re not cheap. Thanks again.
thank you very much !!! it's not easy to film this, for me it lasts ~ 1 hour - the film tape falls out etc. • Right at the first test run there was a new belt jam, which now I was able to remove without opening the housing again, as I understood after the praxis bevor the three-belt system. Unlike in the film, all 3 bands were still visible. So I was able to put the 3 bands back together outside of the housing. :-)
não sei escrever em ingles mas quero deixar registrado minha gratidão pelo excelente video que vc fez, me ajudou muito na solução de problemas com fitas. Grande abraço.
Bitchin' this TOTALLY worked!!! Thanks, Dude with the long thumbnail. I would totally chuck in the trash if these weren't so dang expensive. Nice and soothing "mushroom house" music in the background. It was calming bcuz this is not easy-easy. Just when you get the spool thing on it slips in your hand and another part falls off. Took a bit to get all the pieces put back the way they should. I now intrinsically understand how these cartridges work! Back to labeling stuff in our "Pandemic Pod" for virtual learning.
I am seeing so many of these videos and it really upsets me in this journey of mine, haha. Why don't they just make cartridges that work? Are there any suggestions for a better label printer with working cartridges?
Those incompetent Brother engineers should find a solution for this problem. 6 years have passed and from time to time, with original Brother cartdridges I have this issue.
I fixed it! I still very much dislike this product for how much material it wastes and how often this jam happens, but thanks! (Video could have been edited shorter, and audio or subtitles would help) but thanks!
Very good video. Had to replay parts to watch how the tape was routed. Got the job done. I was ready to return the labeler and the tape until I viewed this video.
...reminded me about the time when an audio cassette use to get caught in the roller of player mechanism, this being worn and tired from use! You had to take your time to do it properly! ....when the tape would break at one end inside roller cassette.. Jesus it was "fun"!
It could be because of bad blade on the device and the harsh pulling of tape without cutting it properly. Avoid pulling the tape with force after printing.
I spent hours pulling my cartridge apart, taping it and put it back together, and when I went to make it print, nothing printed on the white, it was just blank. Any hints to help?
Thank you very much, seven years later your video is still helping people all around the globe! Greetings from South Germany!
Bought the p-touch at yard sale for $5 like new. The tape wasn't working until i came across this video, thank you. It's fixed!
Thank you. I just fixed my wife's label maker and now I'm a hero.
😂😂
THANK YOU!! I just bought a label printer and pulled out the first label I printed, which pulled out the ink tape. This video helped me fix the cartridge! 🎉👏
Thank you, it worked and helped us so much! Unbelievable!
Also, the plastic clips holding the case together are very brittle. Be careful! :)

Excellent! Glad it helped!
Thank you for this, easy to follow, the case is a bit of a pain to get off, it's a lot..heading to Amazon to buy a 2 pack for $10 instead :)
Finally decided to use my label maker after a year. I thought the cassette was faulty until I found your video. I was able to fix it and it works great. Thank you for the detailed video

SUPER HELPFUL! THANK YOU! The one i was trying to repair was that expensive $15 cable wrap fleible id tape.
After successfully fixing my tape cartridge i only printed out few labels and ran out of tape. :( i ordered new cartridge for $2 and it showed up at my door few days later. It was still fun learning. Thanks again.
I accidently broke this on my work. Thanks to you I can keep my job. Thanks man!!!
Great to hear! you are welcome.

Uh, goot to hear, I'm NOT the only one, to whom it happened, that a brand-new cartridge is already broken.
At first I really thougt, fixing will be possible without opening the catridge! Thank you for enlighting me! Great job!
Glad it helped! Thankyou
Thank you so much for posting this video! You saved me time and money not having to purchase a new cartridge when the existing one still had a lot of life left in it!

Agree! Do you remember what you did? I am struggling with that part now, 5 years later.
The instruction was fine. Thanks for recording your video and sharing it with the rest of us. Saved me time, money and an extra headache.
My dog was able to fix the brother tape roller. He is happy, thank you!

Oh my gosh! Thank yooou! This really did help. I was struggling.. 😌 It was printing white on black. Thank you again!

Glad I could help!
there was a shorter video but. others asked for detailed step by step so uploaded full video.
That nail tho :-\ Couldn't even focus on fixing it.
I`m a handyman too and its good to have a long thumb nail. I use it as a tool often.
He should have cut the white label with his nail first.
I just kept thinking for the love of god please use those scissors on that vampire nail next!!!
Very good video. Had to replay parts to watch how the tape was routed. Got the job done. I was ready to return the labeler and the tape until I viewed this video.
Very helpful thank you so much I save my cat rage 🙏🏽☺️
Glad it helped!

Thank you so much. This video was so helpful
I made it!!! thanks for your guide.
This was so helpful! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This gave me some street cred with my kids.
How many prints can i get from this tape?
Hey. Thank you for the video, very informative. Do you know what causes this issue in the first place? Is it a faulty label machine?
It could be because of bad blade on the device and the harsh pulling of tape without cutting it properly.
Avoid pulling the tape with force after printing.
@@URTechieBear i pulled the tape after printing and that's what caused the bunching for me
I spent hours pulling my cartridge apart, taping it and put it back together, and when I went to make it print, nothing printed on the white, it was just blank. Any hints to help?
You might have missed to aline the black tape in line
Saved time and money. Thank you.
Glad it Helped !
