Picked up a 6 station Orbit B-hyve and it was up and running in 20 minutes. Another 10 minutes had my 5 stations/zones programed and working less smart watering. For $99 with an outdoor enclosure too at Home Depot, can't beat it. Any other unit would have cost me $199 + $30 for outdoor enclosure. No bugs or problems from controller or app so far. Before getting into smart watering I would suggest just setting up your zones first for a week or two then move forward. You should edit out all your mistakes and short comings before posting a video.
I had mine up and running on WiFi in minutes and it’s running perfect and I have never programmed a sprinkler timer before and this was a breeze to use and it stays connected to my WiFi 24/7 and hasn’t had a problem yet and it works great, I have ten valves running 37 sprinklers and it’s working perfect and seem well made and is easy to use
More up to date reviews from 2019 show that the b-hyve has come a long way with all the updates.. now working with alexa and google and more extensive options.. be sure to check those out..
8:37 catch cups are the only accurate way for the controller to know how long proper watering time should be. Rachel and Rainmachine are only guessing. Nozzle size in rotors can drastically change water output.
Are you able to respond to a troubleshooting question for me? Trying to figure out why my orbit 6 zone controller is going off at times its not scheduled to? Is it best to press the reset button or reinstall the app or what's the best option? Oh one thing I wanted to mention is that this system works really well. I have used it for many many years and this is the first problem I have had. As far as figuring out how long and how often to set the controller for, being able to set and adjust the days and times and duration yourself works great for me. I have succulents which often need more or less water based on the temperature that day or that week and its simple usually to add or decrease the duration. The timer also goes on an automatic rain delay when needed. I personally found the rachio hard to use. I didnt want the smart watering because i have different water needs for each zone and also want to know and learn by setting the times myself. I think u just need to play around with it and you will see how well it works.
I'm confused about the wiring ... I have a value with 2 wires coming out ... how do I know where I should mount the wiring on the Orbit? Do I need additional wiring?
I'm having the same problems , I think, the wiring is blipped up, the programming is a blip too, I"m trying to set for 3 areas A B C but some reason the back yard ONLY waters(now)half of the yard! and the rest areas at seemingly HALF water, leaving the rest of the yard unwatered. I need help! before I take a hAMMER TO THIS!
ok, I'm replying to my own post, I took a break to work on another project, Although I've always only known with my prior timer(hunter) I've only had 3 areas to water and I've had to replace the knobs because they got stripped within a year not to mention NO Wifi, NO APP. Well, I went to look at my wiring on my Bhyve and found a sneaky green wire all behind the other wires, I pulled it out and revealed that it had been stripped, so it had to had been used(on my hunter junk), I plugged into slot 4 of my timer and looked at my zone 4 on my app, hit test and BADABING, it's watering the LEFT side of my yard and Now even Zone 2 is working, SO ALL 4 zones are up and running, I'm still tinkering with the scheduled Run times (on and OFF) and the best times. I read that it will let me know when's the best time for watering.? I'm still researching it, I thought of GO PROing this. I guess I should've? At anyrate, I took my time to install and tinker with it. So far, so good
B-Hyve customer service is the absolute worst. I had a problem installing the timer and instead of calling me back, as an email from them told me they would, they refused to call and instead texted me ... at no faster than a 45-min. response time. After sending them photos of how I wired the timer, a representative finally said he had a team run a double-check (which he said was fine even though it wasn't) and after reviewing the data and looking at the problem again, they decided the unit was defective and that I should return it for another one. I brought in a professional installer who explained that neither the manual nor the few texts that I received from the company addressed the obvious problem. He rewired it correctly and now it works. Despite several requests to Orbit to speak with a manager, no one has gotten back to me. Worst. Service. Ever.
Just installed a Orbit rain/freeze sensor in order to save watering if it rains. It rained all night, when l woke up my sprinklers were running. Nothing in the manual about a rain sensor if there is something l have to turn on or off. After being on the phone for over a hour with Tech support they had no cute on why it didn't shut off the watering. The manual is not worth the paper its printed on. Someone should redo the manual from the beginning. I still don't know on how to correct the problem.
The reason your zone 1 didn't come on was that there were zero minutes programmed in the head unit. Once you put time on the zones, they worked perfectly. BTW, it tells you this in the manual. Typical iPhone user. Can't figure out anything.
nice video...... so in my old Toro i have 5 zone wires, 1 com wire, 1 pump wire - but then have 1 wire connected to 15v, 1 wire connected to 24v and 2 wires connected to Hot Post - any idea what those last 4 wires are?? thanks
Orbit spinklers have typical problems that after warranty you will have an error messages NO AC and system will not start. No support form ORBIT staff and only one information is that you can buy a new one or send you to "repair" with probably cost of new one. So ORBIT spinkler = working time 2 years or little more if you are lucky. I hardly disrecomend this brand.
+The WiFi Garden It was buggy for me too at first. I posted all over TH-cam how bad this controller is. However, I have changed my mind after adding a wifi repeater and replacing the pump relay. Now it's a totally different experience. I hope Orbit adds this to their documentation.

Bro, your phone was in airplane mode, (upper left corner of phone) thats why you had no connection.. lol.. better luck next time.

You lost my confidence in your ability as a technician when you didn't know how to mount the device.
I agree. This guy came out from the beginning with a negative attitude towards it on purpose.
The exposed wires hanging out of the enclosure weren't inspiring either.....
How much support can you expect when mounting on a single 2x4 without a wall..
Did rachio pay you to act like a dummy with this thing?

Looks like you can hook 3 common wires(white)?
Hi, Where is Gonna Be Connected
The Sprinkler Pump ???
Pump Has 3 Wires.
Thank You.

I would contact Orbit support, they're pretty good!
Thanks!

@@nodd85 I agree
Why didn't you tight the top mounting screw? SMH
He is too smart
Tell us about your grandmother's birthday party. How was it? Who was all there?

Ya should have used a backboard....
can you monitor it an change the settings say your at work or do you need to be near it ?
Yes you can. From your computer or from anywhere where you have a good cell or wifi coverage/signal.
BKXC’s former life 😁
My sprinlers will not come on. I've tried everything.
I'm having the same problem. Mine is such a joke I may return it and re-install my old one. At least I can run it.

I have it and it's super buggy.
+Gabriel S. Yeah, I think it will get better as they update the software over time, but right now it's not an ideal experience.

FYI, Josh and Bryan at Orbit were very helpful and friendly. Even after my less than friendly attacks on this device.
I am sorry to be harsh on ya but this video is so empty of content that I wonder why you bothered to publish it!
Horrible review.
Put the weed down dude!
good grief.... do you know what you're doing?
Sorry
looks buggy
Too complicated
