Hey what controller would be good to connect to a garden hose spigot that you could control to turn on anytime the temp gets below 34deg? I want to use it as freeze protection in Florida for my tropical fruit trees.
Hi 👋🏼 I’m not aware of any timers that are freeze resistant or can detect when the temps dip below a certain temperature. That’s a tough one! Let me know if you find something!
Is there any way to run this off of a 50 gallon water barrel to make sure the plants don’t get chlorine and ammonia, etc. along with factoring a pump for pressure if the water has to travel too far?
Great question and great concept! All you need is a hose spigot attached to that 50 gallon water barrel. If you're using a pump to get pressure in the line, that's even better. There are some 'Hose Bib Extender's that you can pretty much put anywhere and you can attach this timer to that spigot as an option. Hope that helps!
What a great video!!! Thank you! I would like to know if you can connect a back flow valve, and if so, which one would you recommend? Thank you again! Subscribed to your channel right now!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support, I really appreciate it! For the back flow valve, yes you can connect one on the faucet and then connect this orbit b-hyve timer to the back flow valve. Hi there! Apologies for the delayed reply. @@adventuresandstuff Yes it does, thank you. I'm about to hook one up with a bunch of piping all running together, and didn't want the pipes to get crossed over at the last minute. This way I can align them correctly in the ground before getting near to the box itself.

Good question. I had looked into this and to be honest it’s pretty useless 😂 Direct from Orbit’s website - “if you have a program set to run a zone for 10 minutes, then at 100% watering budget, the program will do just that. If you were to change the percentage to 50% then the program would now water for 5 minutes. The same goes for if you set it to 150%, it would then run for 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes. This is mainly used as a way to decrease or increase the amount of time your program will water without having to change each run time associated with the program.”
@@adventuresandstuff awesome thank you so much. Im trying to lower the pressure on one zone so it's not as much as the other lol il try to figure it out
So…silly question but I’m going to ask anyway: with this smart timer am I supposed to leave the outdoor water spigot open/on at all times in order for the device to work? In doing so, what of the water bill? Are you charged for spigot being on continuously? Thanks 🚶🏻
Hey, that’s not a silly question at all. In fact, I think I wondered the same before using these timers 🙂 Yes, the spigot remains in the ‘on’ position when you have these timers hooked up to it. However, the water will not actually run until the time you set it to run. Basically, inside this water timer, there are individual shutoffs for each outlet on the timer. Those shutoffs open and close according to the time you set for it to run. So if you set outlet 1 (aka zone 1) to run at 6am and then shut off after 15 min, then that is the period when water will actually run out of the spigot and thru the timer. Your water bill will only reflect the amount of water that is running when the timer allows that water to run. I hope that helps answer your question and feel free to ask more questions! All questions are good questions 👍🏼
Hi there, good question and it’s something a lot of people have issues with. This timer is like most in that it shuts off quick. If your water pipes are knocking with sudden shut offs, it’s most likely a water hammer problem. I had this same issue and I installed a water hammer arrestor at the pipe where this is connected to. It eliminated the water pipe knocking problem. Hope that helps!
I hooked up this device, but it reduced the water pressure down to say 30%, the sprinkler has way much force when connected direct to the faucet, any thoughts?
Hi Raajeev. I had a similar issue last season. It ended up being the filter screen on the water timer connector (the part that attaches to the faucet). The cone part of the screen should be facing in toward the timer rather out toward the faucet. Check to see if you have a similar issue and let me know how it goes. It is normal for these timers to reduce some pressure, but down to 30% is way too much.
I found that out to be true on the time as well. I have mine filling a birdbath and watering small flower beds. It is frustrating. The valve in each zone must have a diameter less than the pipe feeding it. No reason that it couldn’t emulate the faucet volume. Missed the boat on these timers Orbit engineers.
Hey, that's a great question. I believe you mean setting up the watering schedule. It doesn't give you the option pick specific days of the week. Hey, just a follow up to your question. I had a bit of a brain lapse lol. So, you can set up a watering schedule by day. You can basically pick and choose which days you would like to water. It shows the days of the week and if you wanted to only water Mon, Wed, and Sat, that is totally possible and customizable for each zone.

Repeat these steps for each zone. Let me know if that helps!
i set all my zones but they don't all run at the same time, they run one after another. is that how it works or how can i set so the yall come on and go off at the same time?
Hi Kenneth 👋🏼 apologies for the late reply. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever had all the zones running at the same time. I always stagger the zones so that each zone gets the full water pressure. I’ve found that running multiple zones at the same time results in lower water pressure for each zone that I’m watering. What I’ll try is setting each zone to water at the same time and will let you know if it works.
The reason all the zones don't or should not run at the same time is because of water pressure. If you tried to run all the zones at the same time, the water coming out of the sprinkler would be too weak. I hope this helps.
Hi, Would it let you know it's new gps location if taken by a thief ? And could that unauthorised person overwrite your settings at all to get away with it scott free ! 😢
Hi 👋🏼 that’s a good question. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a built-in GPS. If someone were to steal it, they could reset all the settings and make it their own.
I’ve had this running since April 25th with a fresh set of batteries. It is now September 13th and the battery life is showing as 35%. The batteries are just the usual Energizer Max AA’s. Hi Fred, yes that’s right as mentioned in my reply.
excellent video thanks
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Can you have 2 timers on the app?
Hi Gail, good question. Yes, you can have 2 or more timers in the app. It’s the great versatility of this Orbit product line 👍🏼
Really nice job. Have you found this system reliable?
Hey Chuck, I’ve found this timer to be reliable. This year will be 3 years running this thing and it works every time. Well worth the cost 👍🏼
@@adventuresandstuff Thank you so much for your quick response. I just ordered one. Chuck
That’s great! Let me know what you think of it once you get it all set up!
Battery life?
I’ve had this running since April 25th with a fresh set of batteries. It is now September 13th and the battery life is showing as 35%. The batteries are just the usual Energizer Max AA’s. These will easily last me until the end of the season, which I start packing these timers indoors around early October. Hope that helps!
Thanks!@@adventuresandstuff

No joke 😅. This thing has good features for the money. Hey, it’s great you’re using the one you have. Is it a 4 outlet timer? Can’t find even the regular 4 outlet timers for less than $40 nowadays.
@@adventuresandstuff no its just a timer I can put 100 outlets on it if I wanted to. Just got 2 right now
@w.e.s. Nice 👍🏼
