  • In this video Stuart Lawler introduces us to Hable One, a tiny Bluetooth keyboard used to control your smartphone.
If you’ve struggled with touch screen input on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, or if you find typing to be challenging, then the Hable One might just be the device you’ve been waiting for!
The Hable One has a total of eight buttons. You use buttons one to six, which are arranged in two columns to input text in contracted unified English Braille.
As well as working as a text input device the Hable One also allows you to control your iPhone, for example, playing and pausing music, or navigating using the Voiceover rotor.
The keyboard works best when it is held between your two hands, and your fingers rest naturally and comfortably on the six buttons for Braille input, which are facing away from you.
Here, Stuart displays the key features.

I’m new at braille, and voiceover. Got my Hable One via RNIB and loved the ease of pairing it and that the buttons mimic the braille cell. On the Perkins I kept getting muddled trying to work out the “dot positions” within the braille cell.
