Personally I never considered Neymar to be in Messi's shadow. Like seriously, he was his own thing. It would be a huge butterfly effect if he never left Barcelona for PSG
Him leaving was the best thing because he got paid people forget that being an athlete you put your body at risk and can suffer a career ending injury at any moment no matter how strong you are.
No difrent effects.if he stays he is always considered second best.he moved to psg to win chsmpions league and be tht top player there win ballondr. He could never achieve that because psg never went to win champions league and ronaldo and messi and media were obsessed with them and they won each time
Neymar was born at the wrong time for himself. To be born in an era of 2 players of the quality of Messi and CR7 is very unlucky. But the responsibility he has for Brazil is immense as he is the star players of a very mid Brazil team. He still has had a very good career, but had he been born 20 or so years earlier, he may have turned out to have a much better career
They would have properly broken his legs if he played pre ronaldo messi era. He wouldnt survive as it was way more physical and rough, football nowadays is soft and even still neymar cant bare it. He was a skillful and talented player, but thats about it.
the game was much slower and demanded less on players physically though. sure harder tackles, much much less marathons run. We all have a physical clock (barring freaks like Ronaldo, Modric, Messi etc)

I think this video points out how we look at players before social media. We idolise these players, but they weren't consistently amazing every game. Players like Ronaldinho would've been called a fraud by random kids on Twitter when he had his occasional bad game.
Neymar was an amazing player. Just because someone doesn't win the popularity contest, of the Ballon D'or each year, does not mean they have failed. He carried Barcelona on many occasions.
Neymar when he was at his very best he was one of the best players in the world and was already a superstar when he played for Santos for god sake at the age of 19 as a teenager in the Brazilian league he finished top 10 for the Ballon Dor in 2011 outside of a top 5 league in Europe and it tells you just how good he was at the time and all the top teams wanted to sign him. As soon as he made that move to Barcelona in 2013, he enjoyed 4 brilliant seasons there as he was very pivotal in a team that won the treble in 2015 as he was joint top scorer in the champions league and the following season in 2016 he was in impressive form for Barcelona as they won the domestic double and even his last season there he was unstoppable as well. He played the best football of his career at Barcelona as we saw him at his absolute peak there with his goalscoring creativity dribbling ridiculous flair skill and technique he was just that good. Despite his talent it was very obvious that at Barcelona as long as Messi was there Neymar would always be in his shadow and it was gonna be difficult for him to be seen as the best player in the world since at the time he was seen as the heir to Messi and Ronaldo and in the summer of 2017 he made a decision that changed his career and ruined his legacy and the way he’s perceived as a player. The biggest mistake of his career was leaving Barcelona for PSG as he made a move that was just too premature as yes Neymar wanted to get out of Messi’s shadow and have his own team but the reality is in terms of quality and competitiveness Ligue 1 isn’t on the same level as other leagues like La Liga or the premier league and nobody was ever gonna his flowers for his excellent domestic success at PSG no matter how well he played since fans and pundits don’t rate Ligue 1 as a top league. His greatness at PSG was always measured off of his success in the champions league and unfortunately in 6 seasons he’s only played in 1 champions league final which was in 2020 during COVID where PSG didn’t play an elite team until Bayern Munich in the final where they narrowly lost. This loss negativity impacts his legacy and if he had stayed at Barcelona Neymar would win a couple more champions league titles and who knows maybe if he showed more patience he would have a Ballon Dor to his name by now. If PSG had won the Champions League in 2020 we would probably be having a different conversation about Neymar’s career and in the game the margins are just so so small.
Fantastic insight mate, really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts I’ll be honest I agree with mostly everything you said, I really do wish there’s a world where he stayed at Barcelona man
Just look at Barca's 2019 Champions League season. Messi alone almost carried Barca to the final. If they still would have had MSN instead of douchebag Dembele Liverpool would have never come back and since Spurs already didn't have a chance against Barca in the groupstage it would have meant another treble for Neymar at only 27 years old.
When you look at neymar he had it all to be the eventual successor of Messi and Ronaldo, the injuries, falling short in big moments(ucl final, copa america, World Cup, etc) outside troubles, it’s just unfortunate he keeps getting injured I don’t see him making it to next World Cup
It is sad that he couldn't really reach his potential but he did really well considering all his injuries and lack of time on the pitch. he did make some wrong decisions to play some games before fully recovering but he did what he did and all in all he has been very successful.
Xavi’s only comments publicly is that he loved Neymar & considered him a close friend… you’re listening to sport & mundo, instead of common sense & comments from the manager + club, rather than Barcelona not being able to make his €56m a season salary fit into our wage structure under the strict FFP rules
When i was just 7 years old i watched a match of the Brazilian football league. One of those teams was Santos. I saw a young Brazilian with a weird mohawk play and show his magic and making football look simple. I was in love with this guy. I tried to have his haircut and i also tried his skill moves (Unsuccesfully, ofc). He was the reason i love this sport and i saw greatness in him. Now i'm 19 and i'm about to see my childhood hero retire... I'm not crying, you're crying.
I give my perspective about Neymar: Neymar for me is the second best entertainer I’ve ever seen after Ronaldinho. His skills, goals, celebrations, games are just fun & impressive to watch. I remember the national game against Argentina in 2016 when he bodied just everybody from the Argentina squad. Even Messi couldn’t handle him. Like it wasn’t funny to me. My perspective of why he leaved Barça is bcs he wanted to show the ppl that he can be the boss without Messi & Suarez. Bcs he doesn’t wanted to be the shadow of Messi. I feel like ppl are so much impulsive discrediting when ppl forget of what he archived. He was a Top 10 player of the Ballon’dor as a Santos player. He carried the whole Brazil to the 2013 Confed Cup & their first Olympia ever in 2016. He putted PSG for the first in time in a CL Final in 2020. He played in Copa America Final in 2021 & the Argentinas were so fucking dirty to him. And I’m sure ppl wouldn’t say that his career failed if he won the CL with & the Copa while he won already for Brazil. Injuries were his reasons tho. For all ppl saying „He should stay at Barça. He would def win a Ballon’dor“ i say maybe. But only bcs of Suarez & especially Messi. He would be shadowed just like Xavi & Iniesta. Bcs after 2015 Barça couldn’t get it done to win more CL trophies. In terms of „plays“ they’re the best trios but by „success“ no. So in my perspective Neymar‘s career isn’t failed. He’s just discredited bcs he leaved Barça
Brazil is now falling from grace. 2022 World Cup - Out in Quarter Final, 2018 World Cup - Out in Quarter Final, 2014 World Cup - Fourth Place, 2010 World Cup - Out in Quarter Final, 2006 World Cup - Out in Quarter Final. You see where I'm going here Brazil's highest position in the World Cup is 4th in the last 5 world Cups since their win in 2002. Not a single title, runner up or third place, just 4th.
Neymar's biggest problem is that in any other generation he'd be considered the best ever and would have won at least 5 Ballon Dors, but he's always played 2nd fiddle to Messi and Ronaldo. And he KNOWS IT. But instead of accepting that fact and concentrating on his game to churn out titles and accolades and/or working on his conditioning so he wasn't hurt all the time, he tried to upstage Messi and Ronaldo OFF the pitch. There was always drama. Whether it was the chemistry with Messi falling apart multiple times, the €220M transfer to PSG and becoming the posterboy of PSG's flash over substance reputation, or now the €90M transfer to Saudi Arabia at just 31. Combine an obsession with money and fame with a string of unlucky injuries and a world where no matter how good he was he'd always be 3rd best, and you get Neymar
Brazilian here. I'm glad I watched Neymar playing for Santos and Barcelona. Brazil will be qualified for the world cup, but 2026 might just be our worst world cup, not even that, 2024 might be our worst copa america. I hope Neymar gets his time as a father now
For sure. It's time for him to rest, spend time with his family, his kids, his friends, just like it's time for Richarlison to rest and focus only on Spurs. We might sacrifice a few wins on the qualifiers, but I'd rather qualify with a good team, on 6th in the CONMEBOL, that is allowed to have feelings rather than what the Brazilian football media is doing to our team
Don't worry Brazil will lose copa America but rest assured Neymar will bring the world cup back to Brazil in 2026 save this comment so you can come back to it after he wins the world cup in 2026 😊

@@StrikeAxl Neymar carried Barcelona that season. MSN was feared (Messi, Suarez, Neymar). What was Messi worth alone in Barcelona we could all see (Bayern 8-2 trashing of Barcelona for example). Without exceptional players around him, he is just very good footballer. Also Messi shouldn't have gotten Ballon d"Or for winning Copa America. Let's be real here. It should have been Lewandowski for prior season when Ballon D'or was cancelled lol.
I was a pro skater for 10 years, said id never stop, had the exact same surgery. Ive never been the same, the thought of my knee popping out again drastically changed my confidence in my ability, eventually quit before i even "came back".
Unfortunately he always came across as someone who preferred the lifestyle over Football, the women, the partying the jewellery etc it's really a shame because as an actual talent with a Football at his feet he's one of the most talented I've ever seen. HIs move to Saudi Arabia was the final nail in the coffin and when he looks back on his career yes its not bad but only 1 Champions league and 0 World Cups is a massive underachievement for a man of his talents. He stayed in France for far too long, should never have left Barcelona
Personally, I wouldn't say he preferred the lifestyle over the football, I think that's stretching it a bit - but you could definitely argue that he loved the lifestyle, maybe a bit too much. It feels wrong to criticise him because he was such a brilliant player but to be that good and only have one champions league medal feels so wrong.
Neymar and Hazard's sad ending to their career should also make us ask questions of how Ronaldo and Messi have stayed at the top so long and almost never Injured. Especially Messi, he's still dribbling like a mad man, he hasn't got the long pace but still has the explosiveness.
At 15 the World already knew him, extraordinary player he was...like 2015-17 some people would even say he was better than Messi and Ronaldo. It all started From the back injury at the 2014 World Cup, something kinda changed after that like if you had watched Neymar in Brazil you'd notice it. Some blame it on his lifestyle i personally just think he's body just naturally fails him, Ronaldinho Loved to party but never had these injuries in a time football fitness was still behind.
The fact that he got the numbers he did with the injury record he has speaks volumes. He is a victim of his own playstyle, too much in the defenders face, too agressive, but without the physical robustness to let his body pay the checks his mind was passing. I feel for the dude, but he went far, did a lot. For sure one of, if not the best brazilian player, and as close to the top as anyone in the Messi Ronaldo era got. Hope he comes back for a few more years of good times.
Where were Salah and De Bruyne when Neymar was at the height of his brilliance at Santos and was nominated every year for the Ballon d'Or even though he did not play in Europe ? Where were Salah and De Bruyne when Neymar was at the top of his game with Barcelona and his name was written in the top 3 with Messi and Ronaldo for every major individual award ? Just because Salah and De Bruyne have performed better than Neymar in recent years does not negate the fact that Neymar is still miles clear of both
Salah & KDB might go down as the best players from the Premier League but they'll be nowhere near Ronaldo or Messi's bracket. You're talking about two individuals who have won at least 4 UCLs & 2 international titles for their country including the WC, Copa América & Euros.
The point you have on "playing too much football" is a good one. As an Arsenal fan I do get concerned by how we have relied on Saka so much. I hope we're able to rotate and rest him a bit more by next season.
I think people are being too harsh, its the injuries that derailed his career mostly not necessarily his lifestyle, people forget that not all bodies are built the same, neymar is similar to R9 in terms of their injury record, R9 was just lucky enough to have achieved more before the injuries fully ran its course. Has everyone forgotten the first season of neymar at psg he would have won the ballond'or that season had psg no crashed out in the champions league.
You’re beyond right about that, he would drive accordingly to avoid inquiries and that only made things worse. What a great talent and I will not be happy if he doesn’t come back.
In the beginning people said he was falling too much, and he said he does that to protect himself. He definitely started falling less after that, and MAYBE that's why he had so many injuries.
Someone needs to have a talk with some of these clubs social media managers, first the VERY questionable post about Oshimen from Napoli and now this from Al-Hilal. I see the gesture and it's nice and all but surely they could've chosen a different picture.
I used to be a Big Ney fan back when he played for Santos. The "Copa Libertadores 2011" was epic. He had everything, spped, talent, he could do whatever he wanted to do. His departure to PSG was not a good sign.
Kid's been playing 60 odd games a season since he was 15, and carrying the weight of the Brazilian nation on his shoulders all that time. He has wasted his time at PSG and now the Arabian mercenary league, but the guy doesn't deserve this
And the biggest fact that ronaldo is top goalscorer of 2023 and messi still doing his alien dribbles and bangers is what puts neymar even more down in the eyes of people and that ronaldo which was preseifed as finished player still doing it
it hurts knowing that people deny this statement. I personally think he's the 3rd best player of this generation regardless if he has a balon dor or not. His flair was the reason I fell in love with the game. Hope he makes a safe recovery. If not, I won't forget his legacy.
I suffered a meniscus tear and a partially dislocated knee two years ago. It still bothers me to this day. Sucks that it reinjuries itself all the same. Reinjured myself about a week ago too sucks
Messi Cristiano Neymar one of the greatest in his generation, nothing will change that. he was simply unfortunate, played too much too young, it’s normal. no one is touching his talents in coming years.
Anyone who says Neymar "wasted his talent" and was "overhyped" need to remember that is just their opinion (not fact) and that they never reached the level Neymar did.
Damn the generation that were supposed to be next up after Messi and Ronaldo basically "died" this year, Pogba with his doping scandal, Hazard retired after so many injuries and Neymar just suffered the worst injury for any athlete
Pogba was off that list years ago, in my opinion. That first spell at Juve, he was immense. But that ended in 2016. Everything from that point has been fairly average, especially considering his ability. Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo and Hazard were / are a levels above. Totally see what you mean though. He should have been one of the best. Still a world cup winner though at least :)
I do think footballers play too much football. There is constant tweeking of the game to try to manage this, such as the 5 sub rule, but league seasons are long, multiple cup games and then almost constant international games. However, that said, the ever increasing wages of top level players only pushes the clubs to get more games to get more revenue. Solutions?
Neymar would be a lot better if other footballers weren't trying to always foul him because they are afraid of his showboating and variety of skills, which is the only way to stop him. Neymar will only keep getting injured until he stops playing at a professional level.
I think most people just see his incredible talent, some even thinking his talent level is slightly higher than messi or cr7. His club moves to PSG and his constant struggles with massive injuries aswell as off the pitch drama, have soured the court of public opinion. The people basically think he is just a greedy mega talent with a loser mentality, that doesnt take care of his body.
The conversation around Neymar from fans and media alike is disgusting! Give the man a break and appreciate him for what he achieved instead of attacking him for something he could have been in your head. He doesn’t owe any of you a damn thing.
Ruud van Nistelrooij's best days (with Manchester United) came after he suffered two consecutive torn ACL injuries that took one and a half year of rehabilitation. It is possible.
There was a phrase a manager in Brazil said when Neymar was at Santos. "If we don't change his way, we'll be creating a monster.", refering to his boy attitude... he was right.
What a Bad PR Move by his Club. Never seen him in such pain since I watched him fracture his back in 2014. Godspeed Neymar. You've done a lot for Club & Country.
Not to burst any recklessly optimistic ppl's bubble but Derrick Rose popped his ACL in his PRIME (aged 23 att) and NEVER was the same... think of that.
The thing that will always stick in my head about him is that yes at times he was class but his complete lack of sportsmanship by diving left right and centre will always put a tarnish on him for myself and so many football fans.
@@emmanuelbossman9439 Because Messi makes very "simple" dribbles he never had so many problems, but Neymar, for example, wasted a lot due to injuries and Ronaldinho was losing physical power, I don't think we'll ever see a player with the skills of Neymar and Ronaldinho has the longevity of Messi, Vini Jr, for example, has already started to have injury problems (And he doesn't have as many skills as Neymar and Ronaldinho)
I'm just amazed at how many serious injuries he's already been through and come back to his best. His luck was always going to run out eventually. Also, winning the Ballon D'or would've made his career a 'success', but Messi's longevity suprised everyone.
Honestly when he transfered to saudi i already considered his career over, if was just making money at that point, its a shame he hasnt made a good decision since leaving barca
In terms of pure skills he is probably second after Ronaldinho. Neymar had everything to become one of the greatest players of all time and he probably is ( somewhere near), but sadly it feels like he could have done way more.
U can come back from that injury. I had the same injury matter of fact it was worse and all u go through is surgery where they will probably do a graph to help reconstruct the acl. Once surgery is complete you will begin physical therapy if u work out do physical therapy and TRUST your knee you should be fine
Ngl, I don’t understand how some people can say he had a bad career. The man won literally everything except for a World Cup. He will be a legend and icon for years from now, and is undoubtedly one of the most skilful and one of the best players of all time
Probably the biggest "what if" in the history of Brazilian football, as a big fan of his it's sad that he wasn't what we knew he could be, but still for me he's one of the best best Brazilians and had a good career
I think the biggest reason Neymar shouldn’t be judged as much for his national team not winning a world cup, is the obvious fact that this is the worst Brazilian squad we have ever seen… Neymar didn’t have 2-3 greats playing with him like a Rivaldo, Ronaldo & Ronaldinho had, or Pele with Garrincha; his attacking support was Richarlison, Coutinho, Hulk, Gabi Jesus…
The way his career ended or is going rn was really sad. Injuries were part of it tho ifhe was more dedicated and make better career decisions it could be a way different story. Kinda like Hazard story tbh. Also the picture Al Ahil made of get better was messed up lmaoo
The problem is not that he didn't live up to his full potential, I understand he never had to be the next Messi but the only Neymar, it was hard to be on Messi's shadow and leaving Barcelona for PSG was a good decision if he wanted to step up to n°1. From that moment it was a 50/50 and he knew it - he made the right decision with what he knew at that moment. Personally I found it hard to support him because of his histrionics and dirty tactics, and then it became harder the further he progressed into becoming a PR machine with little results to back it up. It's not really a sad story by looking at his wallet but it's the perfect example of footballers who were so, so ready, but it's a combination of chance and choice.
Neymar is the type of player that’s fading out the game with trickery and combination with great finishing and great creativity he’s won everything except a World Cup so even though he’s not reached Ronaldo and Messi levels he’s still done enough already to be treated as a top player of this generation over a lot of names

@@Vizeh i think he was very done when he divings all too long
Al whatever is worth more than you will ever be.
would it have played out that way really? I mean the age difference between ney and messi is not that big as for him to be a successor also his injury problems are not unique to PSG. once the first few injuries hit him i think his body just could take too many hits before he was out again.
we will never know truly what the best course of his career would have been but all in all he gave us some great moments. love him or hate him he has been an amazing player to watch whenever he is on the ball.

He did in his ACL and meniscus if I'm not mistaken. That's pretty much it for him. Quite the character if nothing else
For the type of player he is that relies on quick turns and dribbling ability, at age 31 it’s rough man

Personally I never considered Neymar to be in Messi's shadow. Like seriously, he was his own thing. It would be a huge butterfly effect if he never left Barcelona for PSG
Massive butterfly effect, I wish there was a world that he stayed man
Him leaving was the best thing because he got paid people forget that being an athlete you put your body at risk and can suffer a career ending injury at any moment no matter how strong you are.
@@blocblackboyblack9226pretty sure Barca also paid him royally😂
I just wonder what could’ve happened if he was about in the R9 Era
They would have properly broken his legs if he played pre ronaldo messi era. He wouldnt survive as it was way more physical and rough, football nowadays is soft and even still neymar cant bare it. He was a skillful and talented player, but thats about it.
the game was much slower and demanded less on players physically though. sure harder tackles, much much less marathons run. We all have a physical clock (barring freaks like Ronaldo, Modric, Messi etc)

It's not just a world class performance till 35+ rather a season of a lifetime year in year out for at least a decade and a half. Honestly, the two goats have been completely unbelievable, something I dont know if we will ever see, two players so far ahead that if those two are on the level of Everest, the third best was at most at the level of the sea bed. Goes to show that having insane natural talent will only get you so far in football (or anything in life for that matter). Yes injuries didn't help but Neymar threw his career away when he made the decision to go to PSG

Neymar came from a shack in a favela. His rise is due to his dedication and natural talent. He is a great.
Fantastic insight mate, really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts
I’ll be honest I agree with mostly everything you said, I really do wish there’s a world where he stayed at Barcelona man
Just look at Barca's 2019 Champions League season.
Messi alone almost carried Barca to the final.
If they still would have had MSN instead of douchebag Dembele Liverpool would have never come back and since Spurs already didn't have a chance against Barca in the groupstage it would have meant another treble for Neymar at only 27 years old.
It's al-halil, btw. Nevertheless I agree. He should've stayed at Barcelona.
There was a reason Xavi was so adamant against signing Neymar
Never knew of that
@@VizehIt was a no brainer to sign him, everyone wanted Ney in, everyone except Xavi, it seems he knew Neymar very well
Xavi’s only comments publicly is that he loved Neymar & considered him a close friend… you’re listening to sport & mundo, instead of common sense & comments from the manager + club, rather than Barcelona not being able to make his €56m a season salary fit into our wage structure under the strict FFP rules

Lol okay.
@@A_R_B_G Why are you talking about yourself on my comment?
I give my perspective about Neymar:
Neymar for me is the second best entertainer I’ve ever seen after Ronaldinho.
Imagine telling someone in 2015 this was how the rest of his career would go, people would call you crazy

I hope Neymar gets his time as a father now
I hope he’s at peace, no matter what

It really hurts when I see players this talented going out this way. He could achieved so much had he stayed at Barca 💔💔
And I think these top players and others are being pushed over their physical limits. Regardless of lifestyle outside the pitch.

he should have won Ballon d'Or instead of Messi when he was at Barcelona. It was at that moment that he had enough of Barcelona and Messi. He would have been always in a Messi shadow.

True neymar and hazard were incredible player their career got ruined by injuries Neymar could've lead Barcelona main player when messi left for psg
I was a pro skater for 10 years, said id never stop, had the exact same surgery. Ive never been the same, the thought of my knee popping out again drastically changed my confidence in my ability, eventually quit before i even "came back".
He is class every time he's on the field, but constant injuries ruined him, it's going to be tough, but I hope he bounces back.
I saw the love for the game when i watched him play so i would disagree with that assessment.
It's crazy how Salah or Kevin De Bruyne are never considered in the same bracket as Ronaldo or Messi when they have achieved so much more than Neymar
that's a fact. would much rather have kdb or salah than neymar
KDB was irrelevant before 24 & Salah before 27. Nice try 🤣
@@MaZaCar_Xiaoyu neymar was irrelevant after 25, same difference
He won everything in Europe. He doesn't need to prove anything more than he already achieved. He definitely has better career than Harry Kane.
Neymar should have done to Bayern munchen, Bayern at least win in Europe, he would have been the main man for them as robben was retiring.
Kid's been playing 60 odd games a season since he was 15, and carrying the weight of the Brazilian nation on his shoulders all that time. He has wasted his time at PSG and now the Arabian mercenary league, but the guy doesn't deserve this
And the biggest fact that ronaldo is top goalscorer of 2023 and messi still doing his alien dribbles and bangers is what puts neymar even more down in the eyes of people and that ronaldo which was preseifed as finished player still doing it
in terms of talent he is the third best player of this era
it hurts knowing that people deny this statement. I personally think he's the 3rd best player of this generation regardless if he has a balon dor or not. His flair was the reason I fell in love with the game. Hope he makes a safe recovery. If not, I won't forget his legacy.

he was let down so hard in the World Cup last year
I suffered a meniscus tear and a partially dislocated knee two years ago. It still bothers me to this day. Sucks that it reinjuries itself all the same. Reinjured myself about a week ago too sucks
Messi Cristiano Neymar
one of the greatest in his generation, nothing will change that. he was simply unfortunate, played too much too young, it’s normal. no one is touching his talents in coming years.
Anyone who says Neymar "wasted his talent" and was "overhyped" need to remember that is just their opinion (not fact) and that they never reached the level Neymar did.
He's still the best to me. He's paid well, doing what he loves. This probably isn't about competition for him.

Yeah. A lot of the ones who were supposed to dominate after Messi and Ronaldo era ended up falling from their prime quite early
Ronaldinho, R9 and Kaká had an aura about them and I never really felt that with Neymar despite his success.
Kaka was amazing, but I wouldn't say he had 'aura' like Ronaldinho or R9..
Don’t get why people call him a failure, he’s statistically Brazils best player, most goals and assists in the countries history.
Yeah but other players won world cups
I guess when Messi and Ronaldo exists people demand perfection in football sadly
I think most people just see his incredible talent, some even thinking his talent level is slightly higher than messi or cr7. His club moves to PSG and his constant struggles with massive injuries aswell as off the pitch drama, have soured the court of public opinion. The people basically think he is just a greedy mega talent with a loser mentality, that doesnt take care of his body.
it's crazy cause he's one of the best of his generation but the expetation. Basically either he wins a Worldcup or he's a failure.
he would be lucky to be in brazils top 10 all time greats despite being top goalscorer
Meniscus injuries actually tend to heal really well with an ACL injury along side. There’s a lot more blood flow to the injured site.

31 is not a bad age to judge someone; yes, he can trust his body. This man has a lot to prove still so recover.
Ruud van Nistelrooij's best days (with Manchester United) came after he suffered two consecutive torn ACL injuries that took one and a half year of rehabilitation. It is possible.
It’s a miracle how Ronaldo and Messi had such long careers. They had a different play style, but so much could have gone wrong for them too
There was a phrase a manager in Brazil said when Neymar was at Santos.

It’s a fair point, it’s time to finish his career here in the States. He would be good for a few MLS teams.

@@emmanuelbossman9439
Because Messi makes very "simple" dribbles he never had so many problems, but Neymar, for example, wasted a lot due to injuries and Ronaldinho was losing physical power, I don't think we'll ever see a player with the skills of Neymar and Ronaldinho has the longevity of Messi, Vini Jr, for example, has already started to have injury problems (And he doesn't have as many skills as Neymar and Ronaldinho)
Would love to see Neymar in the MLS, i think he still has a lot left for a league like that
I remember watching him at the 2012 Olympics. How the hell was that eleven years ago.
I'm just amazed at how many serious injuries he's already been through and come back to his best. His luck was always going to run out eventually.
Also, winning the Ballon D'or would've made his career a 'success', but Messi's longevity suprised everyone.
He could have been a legend if he stayed at Barcelona or left for a proper big club. Going to PSG was the start of the downfall of his career.
2:11 To be fair, that picture could be from almost every game he's ever played.
He will be a legend and icon for years from now, and is undoubtedly one of the most skilful and one of the best players of all time
Neymars stint in Europe was decent for 4 seasons. His career was pretty much over at 25.
A slightly better Michael Owen
what have u smoked? neymar is the most talented player this era and his beginning at psg was amazing, he had much more than 4 seasons at his "prime"
@monochampcafajeste5210 he is not more talented than messi, stop it. He is more skilled than messi, though!
Probably the biggest "what if" in the history of Brazilian football, as a big fan of his it's sad that he wasn't what we knew he could be, but still for me he's one of the best best Brazilians and had a good career
Never reached his potential but he was the 3rd best player in the world for a couple of years, at a time you'd Messi and R7.
That tweet is so confusing for me😂
The problem is not that he didn't live up to his full potential, I understand he never had to be the next Messi but the only Neymar, it was hard to be on Messi's shadow and leaving Barcelona for PSG was a good decision if he wanted to step up to n°1.
ACL and Meniscus injuries occur in unison very frequently actually, still very very upsetting. Hopefully he can come back even stronger and this injury motivates him to be even better
I’m pretty sure neymar was the first fifa ultimate team player where the real world teams took notice off the fifa rating system and ratings in fifa actually meant something for scouting clubs
