Damn, dude. This tutorial is exactly where and when I needed it. I've been playing with the idea of going mohawk for a while, and this video has really helped me make my decision. I know it was a little while ago, but how long does it take you usually to do all this?
Glad it helped! I usually only spent around 10 minutes putting it up when it was 4 to 5 inches but it took around 20 minutes when it got to be 9 inches tall.

Thank you! You definitely need a lot more hairspray than you think, basically to the point you can't feel anymore hair haha. One tip is to make sure each coat of hairspray is completely dry before you put more on. Oh and yes, the roots are the most important part so they need to be super strong. Hope this helps! 😁🤘

Had a mohawk for about 5 months before I started the growing out process. I’m finally (after 10 months) at a stage where I have chin length hair again but now I desperately want it back. I’m probably gonna re-do it in a few days/weeks/months and I’m already looking forward to it and disappointed in myself at the same time haha

Well done brother. I don't have a hawk no more but my fiance does and I put hers up its huge and it already looks great how I do it but I like the extra steps to make it look more full and longer so I'll be trying it for Xmas day this year.
Tbh I struggled with the Mohawk for a while lol, the front side wasn’t stright had like a side slant to it which was annoying and was like tooo hard because all the gel I put but I followed your steps and it’s finally getting to my dream hair lol, fuzzy and completely stright just got to grow it more and boom Mohawk vaas complete XD
Thanks you so much I've been putting a mohawk up for a while but not with color and i just got it done with color and i wanted to know how to put up a fan mohawk so you helped alot
Hi I'm from Canada and I love your mohawk even tho it's down still looks nice. Next year in the summer I was thinking of doing a mohawk like yours I love mohawk style haircuts I usually do a fade style in the winter and summer but in the summer I want the sides shaved and just the middle showing till the back and even tho it looks nice when it's up I like it down but who knows maybe I'll try it up and I wanted to do it like your style but red or blue or actually just leave it black this summer because thats my normal hair color
I keep getting gaps and bits sticking together creating spikes, sort of. It's never a tight fan like yours where you can't really see through it. I use got2b freeze spray and a hairdryer comb but it will not go as yours. I have about 3 fingers width is that too thick? Yours seems less wide
I dont really do a good job showing it in the video but you wanna lightly spray each section just so it stands up on its own, you want it to still be somewhat soft so you can close the gap with your fingers and spray it. You can also lightly comb through your hair after you've lightly sprayed and dried it, this will make it go up and be more cohesive. Hope this helps!
My barber couldn’t get my hair to stand since it’s straight curly, but it wasn’t exactly cotton dry like it usually is, I’m thinking of using some spray at home (buy it first) and maybe some gorilla spray to keep it up for a long period of time, is that a good idea, I think it might help have it last longer.
Great hair, dude! But I'd like to know if you have some tips to people who Just started and have tinha hair, also, my barber messed up the simetry, should I fix It at home or should I wait for it to get bigger so I can Go to another barber store and remake it?(I've never even tried to cut my hair) also, a big hug from Brazil!
The best advice I could give is to start out with it pretty short, maybe 2 inches or so. That way you can learn to put up a tall mohawk as it gets taller. If your mohawk is asymmetrical you can just take a little more off the other side to even it up. But if it's too thin after that it might not want to stand too well when its past 5 inches. Oh another tip, when you're holding the hair up with the comb, don't let go until the hairspray is totally dry. I'd honestly say to always trim it yourself, it can really get expensive going to the barber and clippers are cheap. Hope that helps 🤙
How long would you say your hawk is here? 4 in? 5 in? And how thick did you leave the strip of hair on your head? (I had one at one point but it was long and I could never make it stand
Yeah I'd say it was around 5 inches in this vid. I typically make it as wide as my pupils, it's an old school punk trick. This technique definitely works for tall hawks. I've had them as tall as 10 inches, the only trick is to make sure you dry the hairspray completely and to use plenty of it
@@MonsterBuddy10 Hell yea, thanks man! Been thinking about going back to a mohawk, but was unsure of how thick to make it. If I try it again I'll let you know how it goes
Hey man I don't know if you would have the answer for this but is it possible to put afro hair into a mowhawk? I've always wanted a mowhawk to match my style but having a natural afro made it seem nearly impossible for me
Afro hair will definitely work! It'll actually be easier to put up since it wants to stand on its own. Just grab it with the comb the same way I do in the video and make sure the hairspray is totally dry before you let go. You might need to use your hands to shape it more to get perfectly straight sides, unless you like the poofy look. I've actually had friends with afro hair that didn't even use hairspray, it just stood up on its own and they shaped it with pomade.
Dude thanks for the video, growing a mohawk now, starting from shaved hairs 😂BTW can you tell me what is your music its dope ;D ? thankiiies happy hawkin' !
Decided to go with a hawk, got it looking good after a long time of trial and error!.. only now I need to trim it😅 got any tips? Really don't wanna fuck it up but just a bit too long for me.
Don't worry lol, trimming is super easy after you get the hang of it. Start with a small section in the front and get it the length you want. You can use the first section as a guide for the second one. Hold part of the cut section up with the next section, trim them to the same length. Just keep doing that until you get all the way to the back. Make sure you can see the back really well with your mirror and take your time. Sometimes it helps to trim it when it's up too.
How long does it usually stay up? I am thinking about getting a Mohawk just like yours but red and I am kinda worried it will go dead halfway through the school day
I’m so jealous of people with thin hair, their Mohawks looks so good. I’m debating to cut all my hair off and start the entire process over because my hair is too thick basically. And thinning it doesn’t do Jack shit
Hair gel only works for hair that is 1 1/2 inches or shorter. Gel is too heavy to hold up longer hair and takes too long to dry to be functional. I do sometimes use gel to seal the ends of my hair after the mohawk is up.
I don't know why, but mine starts doing the "V" thing, i put a lot of effort, watching tons of videos, but he starts opening from the middle in about 1 minute. Do you have an idea about what should i do? (Sorry for the bad english, i'm not a native english speaker.)

what if someone thouches the hair or maybe if it goes in to the roof or sleeping in a bed, wont it like bend or whatever?
It'll definitely bend but it's very strong and flexible. At 6:46 I show how much its able to bend without getting messed up.
Bigfoot oh yeah i missed that. thank you! :)
@@turbocharger5482 I sleep with my mohawk and I'd wake up and it would still be nice, I use got2b hairspray, works like a charm
@@guyanon9792 ah i see! nice! me too! i also use got2b hairspray and my hair doesnt get ruined when sleeping. very nice
How much hair spray do you use for one day?
Brad Holloway Not a whole bunch, I usually keep it up for the whole week
Bigfoot do you have to sleep a special way or reapply spray?
Brad Holloway I just naturally sleep on my stomach so it's not an issue, but I do respray in the morning just to keep it from flaking
Bigfoot awesome. Thank you!
Brad Holloway Not a problem! :)
How wide is it?
Everyone is saying to me a Mohawk is gonna be hard to put up. I say If I practice it will not be hard
It just takes time and practice! Besides, if it's easy then it's not worth doing!
Here’s the thing, the way I can tell if I moshped hard enough is how much my hair comes undone
I cant find rave 4x, any other gel i can use?
Really the only thing you need to use is got2b glued blasting freeze spray. Gels are too heavy and won't let your hair stand up straight, hairspray is the only thing that really works well for mohawks but it has to be really strong hairspray.

@@MonsterBuddy10 And now that you mentioned hair gel being heavy, do you think that pomades and wax might be heavy as well, because for the most part I've been a Pomade User.!
