This is a very cute project! Waiting in hospitals is so terribly stressful, but this is an inspiring idea, and I'm glad you found something that works for you. Sending strength to your son for his recovery!
when it comes to some of those more linear patterns, you could even try inserting/cutting the paper sideways so you can get diagonal lines on your square for some variation!
So true! I did glue each square in unique ways to maximize pattern diversity, and I may even write some drawing options (ie. Use left hand, draw without looking, hold writing utensil sideways) to add even more complexity. Anything to distract my overwhelmed brain with simple directives is a win win.
