Finch's best performances were during the Sunshine days. Nate (singer) was in TOP form there, and with Finch he was on his way to becoming the next Mike Patton (Insomniatic Meat.) but I guess these unfortunate things happen. RIP Finch.
Listen to this song every morning for the past 2 years along with a various track of amazing artists and songs but this song definitely had to be on it
He's a good singer by all means, though he used to use lots of accent and hard annunciation for entertainment. If you watch him trying like in What it is to Burn X (10th anniversary live album) you'll see he's actually a good vocalist
The vocals were off, but oddly enough i remember this performance and hating it in 03, but it's not half as bad as I recall. I've been to a handful of their shows and Finch was always one of those Bands that you better wait to see early in the tour dates because of voice strain.
Nate wore himself out and it fucked his breathing up. I think that's why he doesn't sound so great. Too hyped up to be on tv he didn't focus enough on actually making his vocals proper. IMHO of course.
@@deathrays i prob sound like some absent minded knob..but sometimes(not all the time)but sometimes..sounding off imperfectly actually ends up making perfect sense...as in..its meant to sound this way.....this night wouldve been the biggest thing finch'd ever done.. its Jimmy Kimmel ffs!..still swear that theyre the best example of a band from the post hardcore lot..Thursday have that perception of perfection
@@deathquota1 you're very right! Thursday is a great example of this. Dance Gavin Dance too! they sound great on album, too polished even. But live is how you really get a feel for how they are, it's more real!
What is the name of the song that is played at the end of this video? I used to jam to it years ago, I just can't recall the title. Its only the very first 9-10 seconds of the song, 3 seconds more and the lyrics would have kicked in... and this is bugging the hell out of me. Been searching through songs for twenty minutes just to find that one
I hate when a vocalist records shit they can't sing live. It's always the same cop out too....when you get to a note that is to high to sing, they always scream in its place like that was their intention all along. How convenient that it always happens to be the highest notes.
One of the greatest TV music moments in history for me when it kicks back in
kimmel always had the best bands
Hell yeah wish he would go back to this

Cant really explain what happened to them. They started as a very promising band but unfortunately...
What a badass performance of this song.
Ah the good old days, oh what I'd do and give just to get back to these times.
Whatever kind of music you like you have to agree this is one of the best performances ever
Listen to this song every morning for the past 2 years along with a various track of amazing artists and songs but this song definitely had to be on it
I am now old enough to see what my parents saw back when I was listening to this back in the day
The 'spiderman' performance on Kimmel. Remember watching it on TV that night.
Still listening in 2021
Me too
If only Nate’s singing sounded like how it did in the recording though
@Hello World my friend. You have spoken truth
@Andy Argueta oh tch fuck yeah this band I’d listen to nonstop and pretend I live in the 2000s 😂. Wish we could go back there man
Like most singers. Still dope though.
AHHH I WAS THERE!!! :D
wanDUUH ugh you are so lucky I was too young to be there
LOLO
So fucking lucky
they know how to have fun on stage.
its like the singer tries and then at sometimes doesn't. he just stops. but other times is amazing.
2024
@lq6991 they've been back together for almost 3 years now
Still best version
@skatejam7 its "the leaving song pt II" by AFI from Sing the Sorrow.
Back when Kimmel wasn't a complete tool.
i cant believe these guys split up :(
Because Nate flip flopped his entire way through Finch and it’s really unfortunate
@@hunterwilliams8923 also not saying this was also the reason they broke up but one of the old band members got convicted of fraud
@@obesegamer6343 Darek Howles, bass dude I believe it was
Kinda getting mineral vibes from the vocalist in this performance... not a very solid performance but reminds me of mineral nonetheless

GreaT!
anybody know what that song is on the punk rock vids advert at the end?
AFI - The Leaving Song, Pt. 2
Why can’t I watch ?
@Fancherkr Yeppers. She sure does.
@snowboarda4life100 you can't beat that scream though man.
Drummer is dope

talk about a band with good songs sucking it up live
this performance is wack, but they are really good live. i saw them 3 times.

AFI Leaving Song Pt.2
oh man fuck
@3:18
@ethan1336 hahaha trucker hats...back when it was cool to be a tool
voice sounds mad weird here, no?
@ethan1336 .....
Covid here
The lead singer has no presence. I’m not even in the arts but I clearly would of rushed into the crowd
It’s incredible compared to what passes as “post hardcore” now.
Ilike this song, but it sucks live!

terrible live vocal performance
It’s imperfect but there’s a lot of raw power there that makes up for it for me
liking this in 2023 lol
