I'm so tired of DEI games and agendas. I miss the 90s and the first decade of 2000 when they could make a Blade movie without saying a word about race and it was just about a cool guy fighting evil vampires.

So, in short it says to japanese customers: "Thanks for your criticism but it’s not welcomed. We accept only praise and of course your support aka your money. Plus, rule of cool excuses every mistake and even false representation of a culture, while our game director is still promoting the game as historic accurate for marketing." WELP, that's not a apology letter but a big middle finger into japanese faces.

Few Japanese accept the new statement about Assassin Creed Shadows released on Ubisoft's X account in Japan.
Rather, it's clear that Ubisoft's definition of privileged information actually suggests Thomas Lockley.
Some Japanese see Ubisoft's statement not as an apology but as a challenge to Japan.
From a Japanese point of view, I think his new statement only further insulted us and added fuel to the fire.
In fact, their four pages of meaningless excuses have been widely criticized on the Japanese Internet.
We Japanese have not forgotten that the CEO of Ubisoft made us Japanese transparent and essentially called us Japanese racist.
They may have forgotten, but they haven't forgotten that we Japanese were defined by them as a people who always perform beheadings in daily life.
They do not allow important cultural properties and art in Japan to be easily and without hesitation stolen and used without permission.
Japanese Bushi and samurai are occupations whose reason for existence is pride. As a Japanese, I cannot easily forget that the Japanese culture and history that nurtured the samurai were insulted and misappropriated.
We Japanese usually look like herbivores because we value harmony and cooperation and avoid conflict.
However, when we feel that our respect and pride have been trampled upon, the Japanese become a fierce fighting people.
This kind of cheap apology, not even from Ubisoft's head office, cannot restrain the fighting spirit of the Japanese people.

It's funny that when they finally make an assassin's creed game in Japan and the main character is a Samurai. Why not use a ninja as a main character? Makes no sense in the context of the game. The code of Bushido is the opposite of the way the assassin's brotherhood works. Regardless of the ethnicity of the character.

The full reason for it is actually a sort of insidious one.
First they need to poke the "we wuz kangz" crowd and regardless of what is shown, they'll now say "we wuz samuraizes"
Second, it's to try and break the 98% homogeneity of Japan and say how they "need diversity" rather than cultural uniqueness.
It's one part of a larger chess game they're doing to control how Japan thinks and feels as many people in the West are telling Japan to remain Japanese and not to accept anything else as it's destroyed us.

it's more along the lines of the company being held by the standards of a investment group named BlackRock and Vanguard, they are forcing every company to make these stupid changes in order to appease their ESG or DEI score, kind of like how communist china works with their social credit system.
people rightfully so are rejecting this, but these companies won't likely fold to this, because most of their investments come from these investment groups, gamers right now are demanding every company drop these values as we see it destroying our entertainment, so if this means these companies go bankrupt, than that's what needs to happen.
but don't despair, because these IP's can always be purchased by someone who isn't this dumb who won't fall to the whims of these investment groups, i'm personally hoping enough people across the board reject these investment groups and make them go bankrupt and ban them from the entire entertainment industry because that's how the boycott for SBI or sweet baby inc is working right now, but we are targeting every one of these companies who folded to this nonsense in the hope that some companies out there won't fold to it out of fear, instead go back to making games fun again instead of using it to subvert culture in order to control what people like and do.

Because as far as I am aware, the whole point of the game is to assassinate someone... and then vanish into the crowd. How well will that work with a 6.5 foot black man in medieval Japan? This joke of an apology was "someone's" creative writing effort.
Those Ubisoft losers think they are so smart because "they" don't think anyone can see right through their disingenuous "apology"

They want to start esploring space and the planet Uranus?

No you start out by saying " To the esteemed People of Japan" not "Japanese community". They are a country and a people. You wouldn't say "to the esteemed American community" no you say " to the esteemed people of the United States of America" (or just United States).
It's a matter of respect and that's something they clearly didn't have.

Bridge is Big Brother. DEI is their motto. BlackRock and co. are their Financial Department. Just like Oceania circa 1984.
    D = Discriminate
    E = Exclude
I = then Ignore the people who calls you out on the hypocrisy

I just saw a veritas topic that shows what DEI does, it basically boils down that, it is used to create a cultural segregation based on gender, race, spectrum and orientation, which makes excuses for people to be unapologetically terminal like back in the 30s-40s, why does everything need to be a message or an insult ?
I find it apalling that we are falling back in mutual understanding
Also Ubisoft deserves the biggest wallet spank of the year, for being unapologetically gaslighting

There was a Japanese tradition that existed during the time period that this joke of a game takes place in.
This particular traditionwas used by Japanese people who were deeply shamed and wanted to atone for it.
Every single Ubisoft "person" and all of their "consultants" should do that...traditiohnal thing now.
Well...Ubisoft and their buddies are not Japanese, but we'll all be happy that "they" are not wasting our air any more.

"Dear Japanese. We respect your country a lot. But we're also gonna slap a black man as a lead samurai character and offer gay romance options for him. And no, it's not cultural appropriation, not according to our NOT-SO-SHADY-CONTROVERSIAL sources (from the associate professor who made up an entire fanfiction book about Yasuke and is now in hiding after being called out for his lies, to the OTHER associate professor who wrote an entire book validating pedos in Japan as a means of showing how 'progressive' Japan has been). This is a game that's not based on reality. However, we're gonna enforce real-life DEI expectations on this game anyway - hence why this game NEEDS a black samurai and gay relationship options. Anyway. No hard feelings, Japan.' - Sincerely, Ubisoft
I can't help but wonder WHY even put a black samurai as the lead at all if historical accuracy doesn't matter? Ubisoft is talking out of both sides of their mouth here. It claims this isn't about historical accuracies and just wants to be about pure entertainment. Yet, it chooses to DIE on this hill of Yasuke being everything that inaccurate book claimed him to be. So apparently, historical accuracy does matter... provided it matters to THEM.
Also, considering it is those very collaborators that have enabled places like Ubisoft to continue distorting history to push out agendas, those collaborators are indeed FAIR GAME for criticism. That goes double for those whose work hve not been properly peered reviewed OR contains many blaring inaccuracies. I don't get how Ubisoft gets to stand there and tell us 'please don't go after these collaborators' when these disgusting deceitful collaborators have been allowed to revise history (especially to serve specific DEI agendas) with impunity thus far.
