Hot Chocolate Pops

  • I've been experimenting with hot chocolate bombs and came up with these hot chocolate pops, inspired by my love for cakesicles, which use the same mold. We'll go over how to fill the molds with chocolate to create a shell, which is then filled with tiny marshmallows and hot cocoa mix. We'll make two kinds: a classic hot chocolate pop, and a super delish salted caramel hot chocolate. Enjoy in a steaming hot cup of milk, or even turn your coffee into a mocha.

    Hello, Really enjoyed your videos both this and bombs. Questions: 1. Storing best way & how long might they be good for. 2. Your thought of mailing, family not here. 3. No microwave, suggestions on melting. Thank you so much for your time and putting up these videos. Keep well, and Happy Holidays.

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!
      1. I keep mine in a cool and dry place. So for me that's wrapped in foil, individually, on my counter tops. I also have a big cupcake container I keep them in. They are fairly room temp stable, so at least a week, esp if you use dehydrated marshmallows. (marshmallows don't go bad, but they do get harder when exposed to air for a while.) I wrap my pops in in
      2. I have a video on how I mail the bombs, on my channel. Mailing pops will be much easier and you could definitely stuff more inside a flat rate package and get your money's worth.
      3. Use a double broiler. So a heat proof bowl atop a pot of simmering water but not touching the water. The steam will very gently heat your chocolate. This is a cool setup because if you maintain the steam it can be used continuously while you work instead of having to remelt over and over again!
      I hope you have a wonderful holidays as well! And have fun with your hot chocolate 😍

    Does the salted Carmel pop have to be refrigerated?

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, not unless you want to. Carmel has so much sugar in it, which is naturally protects it from growing microbes.

    These are absolutely wonderful, your children must love them. I got so excited about your Popsicle Mold Bombs because, l bought this mold last April. I was making Chocolate Covered Ice Cream Pops. I didn’t think I’d be using them again until next Spring at least. What a great idea! I always make my own Marshmallows though... My grandkids call them, “Nanny-Mellows”. I think I might try making the Chocolate Popsicles and filling them with my (Slightly cooled) Marshmallow while it’s still in its “Liquid” state. *Marshmallows have to dry overnight or at least eight hours depending on the humidity.
    I’m not technically savvy, I wish I knew how to add a photo to my comment. I don’t mean to embarrass you but you have such a lovely speaking voice. Again, I’m over the moon that I found your Channel. ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

      Yes, if you use dehydrated marshmallows they last a while, at least a week. I wrap them up individually in treat baggies and tie the bottoms around the stick. Or you can just stick them all in an airtight container. 😄

    Hi Adriana, I’ve been really enjoying your channel. I tried a couple of your recipes and they’re amazing! I tried your chocolate cake and it was so incredibly moist! The first time I made it, I made the terrible mistake of baking it longer than I should have. My oven spikes in temperature because it’s a gas oven and I completely forgot 😭 but I tried again at a lower temperature and shorter time and it came out perfect!
    I’ve been wanting to make a letter cake using your template. I don’t want to use a sweet buttercream, do you recommend the Russian chocolate buttercream you have on your website? Would it be stable enough for the letter cake? I was trying to find a video on your channel of the buttercream, but I was unable to find it.
    Thank you so much for sharing your amazing recipes and being so amazing with your Cake-lator app!
    Sending love and safety, from Guam💙

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello 💖 I'm so happy you enjoyed my chocolate cake. I love that one too.
      As for the letter cake, you have a few options.
      Yes, you can use the Russian buttercream (which you are correct I haven't made a video for yet) and it is very easy since it's two ingredients: butter and condensed milk. The condensed milk adds the sweetness, and you can also flavor the buttercream with chocolate, vanilla, etc. It is on the sweeter side and will be a bit heavier in butter feel and flavor, since those are the only two ingredients. It will be delicious nonetheless.
      I would say Russian buttercream is right in between an American buttercream (sweetest) and Swiss meringue buttercream (less sweet).
      So my sweet buttercream meter goes like this:
      American > Russian > Swiss
      Swiss meringue is less sweet because the base of it is not sugar like the other two, but rather a meringue made of sweetened egg whites. It will still be sweet though, just as much so.
      One step down (in terms of sweetness) from this is whipped cream, but you run into a stability issue if you're not comfortable piping and working with whipped cream as a frosting.
      I have heard of non-dairy whipped creams that actually have better stability though, we have one here in the states called Pastry Pride. It's really easy to whip up, easy to pipe and a little more stable. I've never used it myself but I've heard good things about it. The only tradeoff is taste, but I think commercial bakeries use it as well, so it can't be terrible.
      Sorry for the ramblings, but I hope this helps you a little bit! Please let me know how it goes 💕🌈
      Happy Baking!

    • @EB-hz9ix
      @EB-hz9ix 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sugarologie Hi Adriana, I tried the Russian buttercream, but because Guam is extremely humid and the temperature outside is hot (usually 89-103F) year ‘round, the buttercream was super runny. I was not able to use it. I tried the Swiss buttercream and added melted chocolate and the consistency was much better! (A little buttery I find, but delicious nonetheless). As for the whipped cream, since Guam is just a territory of the US and far in the pacific, we don’t carry as much good accessible to the states. The pastry pride is not available on Guam and cannot be shipped to Guam due to shipping concerns of a dairy item. (Sad phase here)

    Do the salted Carmel ones need to be refrigerated? Ang how long would you say these and the hot chocolate bombs last?

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's caramel from a bottle that is room temp stable. You should check on whatever brand you buy though, but mine specifically says "does not require refrigeration". Caramels are typically so high in sugar and low in moisture content that it inhibits any kind of microbial growth. But just to be safe, we always eat ours in a few days. I hope you make these! They're really fun 💕
