Advice from the Yukon...put your birdfeeders away for the summer. As you say, birds have lots available over the summer.

I swear when I see your doggo Lando run free like he does it’s like I’m with him - gives me the tingles -run Lando, run … cheesy I know but couldn’t help myself. I’m a proponent of eating local and organic but boy it’s pricey in NZ. That Bear was behaving like teenager asserting it’s power… sharing the land with all the critters. Awesome episode folks 🥰🙏

It's taken a year to deal with grief of my folks miss them.
At least after mum passed dad and I went on our own adventures. 96 when he passed. 😊

We get bear here in Pennsylvania, not the that often but it’s still scary thank god you are all safe!
Watching this my German Shepherd went crazy barking with Lando! It was crazy how she knew his bark was serious. You are so right about eating clean. I've had gastrointestinal problems for many years and I gastroenterologist told me about eating only grass-fed meat and free range chickens that aren't fed grain to fatten them up. It's been 6 months now and I actually feel better! I look forward to your weekly videos.
One thing to add about your local farmer and buying direct: it’s good INSURANCE that you have a source for clean protein for when our BETTERS in government decide we’ve had enough poultry and beef and that it’s time to start eating their Impossible Bug Burgers and Chicken. 😉
Yeah, we’re not big fans of fake meat or lab grown food especially not bugs. Although I did accidentally eat a mosquito once and it wasn’t too bad. 😝

BANG BANG loud noises will do more than a squirt from a can to scare the animal into not wanting to return.

Always feels good to have local meat in the freezer-we get our pork and beef from our local farmers. It’s awesome. Now just need to find chickens around here. Glad the bear went away! Eek! Man, Lando can run! Always knew it but really saw his speed compared to the boat. Wow. Thank you for loving him so much to give him his best life! Beautiful cinematography drone/music…loved it!

You guys could suspend the bird feeder from a tree out of the Bear's reach, I'm sure the the birds would be OK with that although filling it would require a ladder so maybe not worth doing.

Curious bachelor bears are a pain. Right up there with campsite bears. It’s good that one will stay in the first category & not join the second group. Also makes our dogs mark their territory like crazy after the bear vacates.

This happened to me. I live on 45 acres of forest (Oregon) surrounded by other forest and farms. A bear came in front of my house and destroyed the birdseed feeder. I caught on camera but then decided that although it was pretty awesome to see such an amazing animal it was also a very bad idea to let it become comfortable around my home. So I charged outside banging pots together and that bear took off lightening fast. I was shocked at how fast it ran. Do not be fooled by their lumbering walk.
Also, you can bet that bear will be back. I ended up putting up a rope high up between two trees with a pulley and hung my feeder from it. It’s got to be higher than they can reach when they stand on their hind legs. Also, garbage isn’t safe unless you have an electric fence around it or it’s secured in a building. Your bear showed no fear which sadly is going to result in it either hurting someone badly or it being shot. Keep some air horns around (and bear spray) and do everything you can to scare the heck out of it.
The difference between bears and cougars is that cougars will kill you first before they eat you. Bears start eating you right away, while you are still alive. Your bear, had the look of hunger determination.
Howdy! I live near the Great Smokey Mountains and Black Bears are a actually consider an attraction in Gatlinburg. You know, the kind of attraction that can tear your face off. Unfortunately, some of them get a little too friendly or better yet, aggressive, and have to be euthanized. By making sure that the bear doesn’t consider your island a food source you are saving it’s life and encouraging it to stay natural. I have heard that they are not fond of the smell of pine-sol. It’s worth a try. Just spray it around areas where the bear found treats in the past.
That’s a good tip about the Pine-Sol. If we have any more issues we’ll definitely try that.

Seeing a bear or a snake on country property is my biggest fear. That bear was beautiful and adventurous. Happy he/she decided to move along and find food elsewhere. YIKES.

Interesting and scary interaction, I think there should be a noise maker that works in silence but only bears can hear that frequency and scare them and make them go away from that noise...stay safe

Farther south in Ontario raccoons will destroy bird feeders. No bears but too many coyotes chase dogs and people when you are walking in the spring.
Because the bear was not scared off VERY quickly making him frightened, it will be a problem bear. It will return and continue to cause problems unfortunately. Get rid of it immediately when it enters the property, or you will be forced to "deal" with it eventually. Luckily it is small atm.

That bear might come back since it had access to the bird feeder. In the spring time bird feeders should get removed for that exact reason. A fed bear is a dead bear.

Hello from Montreal. Its Marly and Andres.. we love the drone shots they take…. Which of you is the pilot, and what type of drone do you use?
Pete Jr and Peter Sr usually fly the drone. We now fly a DJI Mavic Pro 3. In earlier videos we were using the DJI Mini 3. Hope that helps. 👍🏻
You needed to be much more aggressive with that bear. Be crazy swinging and pounding a shovel on the ground. Call its bluff. I’ve chased black bears off like this several times.
