    Ok so I have tested the Amazon Eero Pro 6 and loved the performance. So when the Amazon Eero Pro 6E came out I wanted to see if there is a difference. Well, there is a difference. It turns out the Eero Pro 6E is less powerful than the Eero Pro 6 and has a 1ghz processor vs a 1.4 ghz processor. The eero pro 6 vs eero pro 6e just does not make sense in terms of upgrading as the only advantage you are getting is one 2.5ghz direct connect port. In this review, I unbox, setup, and do a speed test.

    Is the Eero Pro 6e worth the upgrade?

    • @jimhall1131
      @jimhall1131 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      The primary reason to upgrade to the Pro 6E is the 6GHz channel which you fail to even test in your review which makes this entire video pointless.

    • @PatricksDIY
      @PatricksDIY 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jimhall1131 I was gong to say the same thing He also fails when he says " its only worth it to hardwire since you get 2.5gb speed" well you don't get a 2.5gb hardline speed, the eero pro 6e only has 1, 2.5GB port, and 1, 1GB port, so if you are plugging your connection into the 2.5GB port you only have a 1GB port to hardwire to your network, so it would be beneficial for 6e (6ghz) wifi which I get 2gbps on my 6ghz capable phone.

    The advertising for the Eero 6E talks about using the router with faster than Gigabit broadband, BUT, the Eero only has 1x 2.5Gb port (and one normal 1x 1Gb port), so you plug your faster than Gigabit modem into the only 2.5Gb port on the Eero, yes you might get faster than 1Gb WiFi from that router but that's it, you can't then supply faster than 1Gb (via Ethernet) to your switch / NAS / desktop PC / or even to other Eeros in your home. Your MESH is restricted to 1Gb even though you have faster than 1Gb internet! WHY?!

    If you had a WI-FI 6e device to test with you would see a big jump in speed. I have a eero pro 6e and a couple of 6e devices with 1.2Mbps download speeds and on those devices I am seeing speeds of 1.4Mbps. With WI-FI 6 devices only 500-600 Mbps. If you have any 6e devices it’s with it.

  • @nick-dogg

    iPhone are limited to WIFI 6 with a 80mhz channel width. You won't see any speed increases. You may be seeing slower speeds because the pro6e device is most likely configured for 40mhz channel width as opposed to 80mhz on the pro6.

    in a very clean environment yes it's not worth it. but I think the point of 6E is it frees up more channels to choose from for the the fronthaul network, and the routers use 6E channels for backhaul.

      Noise cancelling won't help the other person hear you and transparency mode will make it more difficult for you to hear them in a loud environment.
      In many states it's illegal to use earbuds while driving. Consider a hands free kit with noise cancelling (cancelling the background noise on your end for the listener, not background noise for you)

    When you tested the pro 6 vs the pro 6e, did you use the same exact testing device under the same network conditions on the same day? If you didn’t, your testing is invalid. There are lots of variables that affect speed. In my own network, the speed is noticeably different when there is nobody home vs everyone around with their devices plugged in and streaming. Also, home broadband internet is never going to be consistent because you have to take into account network usage in your area. Then there’s your phone. Depending on state of the device at the time, your results may differ. Testing from the exact same place? All of that will affect your test, and if all are different, you definitely can’t trust your test. If you tested the old one, then swapped the new one, then tested from the exact same place at close the the same time, THEN it would be valid. But … I’m thinking probably this wasn’t the case. None of it. So you don’t really know if the device is slower or faster.

They provided network to the house installed their box and the box has 4 green lights which means that they provided 1gig connection to the house. Now... Eero Pro 6E has 2 lan ports at the back. One goes to the city fibre box on the wall I have newly installed and the other port is what for? It's all connected but no signal, can't configure, my phone doesn't find the eero, app keeps asking for Bluetooth and Bluetooth doesn't find eero so am stuck in creating eero network.

  • @The1andonlyBYack

  • @surgonan
    @surgonan 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you don't have a 6Ghz device you aren't using WiFi 6E, you are using Wifi 6 (5Ghz). The whole point of upgrading to 6E is to use 6Ghz devices...
    So your entire test is flawed. It's like comparing a garden hose connected to your house vs a garden hose connected to a fire hydrant. The hose (your device) is the limiting factor not the source.
    You probably shouldn't be reviewing tech that you don't understand!

    Also eero 6 pro has TWO 5GHZ, one is 4x4 another one is 2x2 Mimo
    However, eero 6E pro has ONE 5GHZ, and it is a 2x2. another one is on 6GHZ
    So if most of your devices running on 5Ghz, pick the EERO 6 pro NOT the 6E,

    I've encountered slower speed with the eero 6e, but I'm trying to fine-tune my equipment to possibly get the highest 6e speeds.
    Setup I'm currently using and which I want to migrate from to the eero 6e: Windows 10, isp modem hardwired to Asus ac5300 wireless modem which is LAN port connected to an eero (generation 1) mesh network. Eero Gen 1 download speed to my PC at around 90GBytes, download to Samsung Android 13 cellphone at around 90Gbytes.
    Setup I want to migrate to with the eero 6e from current eero Gen 1 mesh network: Windows 10, isp modem hardwared to Asus ac5300 wireless modem which is LAN port connected to an eero 6e (generation 4) mesh network. Eero 6e download speed to my PC at around 90Gbytes (no improvement) to Samsung Android 13 cellphone at around 90Gbytes.
    Interesting anomaly: Using the new setup with the eero 6e mesh network, my wireless signal from my Asus ac5300 directly with a wifi 5 adapter kicks out a low 90 Gbytes DL speeds. With the eero Gen 1 mesh network the wireless signal from the Asus ac5300 only got as high as 90Gbytes DL .Replaced the wifi 5 adapter with a Tenda wifi 6 adapter wirelessly connected to the eero 6e mesh AND not wirelessly connected to the eero 6e mesh but to the ac5300 wireless signal (which broadcasts to 2.4 and 5.1 frequencies) and the DL speed kicks up to 440 Gbytes.
    Not sure why eero 6e is not delivering DL speed improvements.
