i'm making dandelion wine right now and some lilac-rosepetal-rosehip wine. ALL THANKS TO YOU. I literally thought it was so complicated until I watched your videos and I just went for it! They are all fermenting now. Each has a bit of issue, the lilac is in a 3 gallon demijohn ( in canada we call it a carboy) and it's a 2 gallon batch so it's got a fair amount of headspace. The dandelion wine wasn't bubbling in its 1 gallon jars (2 of them) but I added yeast nutrient 2 weeks in (hope thats okay, so late!) and now it is bubbling. I also broke my hydrometre and had to order another one! I sanitized everything so I hope that was the most important part and the side issues don't matter. It's not so black and white it turns out! you do make it look easy! I do appreciate the new in depth explainations on things in this video though. Cheers!
Wish we could grow rhubarb here. Too warm. And the closest I've been to you was John O Groats in 1975. I used to raid wedding receptions (got a list from the newspaper) to get champagne and other wine bottles. So my basic stock of bottles is champagne bottles. I used the plastic stops without wire (with wire if sparkling... like a lambrusco.) With Covid restrictions it is difficult to get used wine bottles now... few wedding receptions and closed bars.
Hi there. I am making my first batch of Rhubarb Wine. I used 10 kg of rhubarb, added 2 oranges,10 kg of white sugar and 1 kg of Demerara sugar. I left it for 3 days and I have just strained the rhubarb and got 15 l plus of juice. I then topped up to 7 gallons with tepid water. I then took reading, -1.10, then added 7 spoons of Young's Super Wine Yeast Compound (High Alcohol). Does this sound ok to you? Very first time doing this. Any comments or advice would be much appreciated. Cheers
