- even though, i wasn’t severely disappointed by the winners this year. the controversy leading up to it, will always make it a questionable show. plus, the name has become synonymous with my annual grammy video, so it stays regardless.

I think this year they definitely tried to spread out the winners of the “big four” after the huge Billie sweep last year. That’s why pop vocal album and album of the year were divided between Dua and Taylor
@FactoryOfSuffering1977 best pop vocal album doesn’t mean best vocal performance in the album, it really just means best pop album, but they added the vocal part to differentiate it from just instrumental albums or spoken word albums etc. so the category really just means best pop albums that has vocals in it.

I think Dua has a chance but over Taylor not because Taylor got snubbed several times and this time she made critically acclaimed album and album broke record on hot 200 and Grammy couldnt ignored that.If The weeknd wasnt snubbed,Taylor gonna get it anyway i think.And I hope when adele release a album i hope they consider other noms over her because she got the award over Lemonade
Grammys has kinda lost it's authenticity, credibility and validity and people care less and less about it each year.
Not really. All that will happen is that "fans" will stop watching it. Then the show just won't be televised...just like when it first started. The award itself will still exist regardless because it is an industry award...it is for music industry people to give an award to their musical peers. So...that means the authenticity, credibility, and validity within the industry will remain. Fans don't determine that.

The awards cater to progressive politics and woke culture who are really just fronts for unwoke corporations and China.

I mean, that's how all of these awards show work and it's not like it's a secret or anything. They have entire committees for a reason. If they wanted an audience opinion, then they would seek it, but it's always been about what the rich and notorious deem "good" in their eyes.

It’s sad how when Nicki spoke out about the Grammy everyone called her bitter, but when the weekend does speak out he gets praised🙄
I mean After Hours was highly successful and critically acclaimed, not only by critics but also by fans/no fans all around the globe. He won other important awards, so it clearly was a shock for everyone when he was completely snubbed.
Nicki, if I remember correctly, was complaining about Bon Ivor winning over her, and making it about race, which it wasn't, referring to him as "a white man". Bon Ivor produced a really good album the same year they won, it was critically acclaimed and although it wasn't a super success it did good on charts. Even if they wouldn't have won, I think J. Cole would've get it.
The Weeknd spoke about the Grammys, without throwing others artist into the mud, I think that's the reason why every supported him. While Nicki was perceived as "bitter"since she was also discrediting other artists while "exposing" the Grammys.
It's almost as if... it's a different circumstance

i can’t fathom how the weeknd didn’t get nominated for ANYTHING, doja cat got nothing, Chloe x Halle NOTHING, BTS were milked tf out of and used for viewers, despite having the best selling album of 2020. they performed dynamite up to 33 times ALL differently, whilst there is only one rain on me performance in existence. there is clearly issues with the voting process because I don’t understand how yummy got nominated but blinding lights did not. at some point people will get bored of this and just stop watching this corrupt show altogether.
Doja wanted to do streets but her “fans” wanted say so for the millionth time and her management made her do it. All this year it was the hot pink era. I would love to have the Grammys ACTUALLY give the awards to deserving and hardworking artists. Not just based on who’s popular. This is just a popularity contest at this point.
I don't think it's a popularity contest because sometimes people who aren't that popular do win. And just because you are popular doesn't mean you are not hardworking and deserving too. Everyone has their opinion on whose music is the best, that's why award shows kind of divide everyone.

I feel like Watermelon Sugar despite its popularity is one of his weaker-sounding singles and I only enjoyed it for a few weeks? If i had to choose a single that was REALLY deserving of a Grammy it would be Sign Of The Times or, respecting the timeline, Adore You. Idk I just feel like they sounded a lot better.
I still love Harry's music though (and Harry) but it was kinda sad for me to see some people losing faith in his music due to how Watermelon Sugar became so popular.

It's a great song, but I think that's for the best. As an artist, you don't want to have people remember you for that one song you did and have everyone only care about that one to the point where you become sick of it. That's what happened with Kurt Cobain with "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

I think one of the worst snubs was how they dishonoured the legacy of Eddie Van Halen. Very few other artist have done what he did with a guitar. Having to sit through a god awful lip sync porno whilst a true legend got about 5 seconds of recognition was truly heartbreaking.

I think that bts were snubbed. Not because of their lost against rain on me (rain on me deserved) but for the lack of nominations (they had a great year and they deserve some kind of recognition imo). And also i think that billie eilish is too much awarded by the grammys. Last year she won in the 4 biggest categories and this year she won again ROTY with everything i wanted which wasn't THAT popular or good compared to don't start now or say so.

Dynamite was not made for the Grammys or CR would have tried harder like they did when it came out last summer, literally the only song they've ever cared about promoting cause it's in English. If we're speculating, then Dynamite was probably a good chance to see if they could break the US market with a pop song in English, and they got a #1 on BB and a stable hit as a result.

It’s fine if you don’t like them, but you skipped one of the most significant reasons why the Grammys flopped and how dubious they are to non-Western artists and whoever doesn’t fit their agenda. I don’t know...it’s weird.
***About the Grammys being racist: the Grammys have multiple examples of displacing BIPOC artists--especially Black artists--in difficult positions where they're segregated into one category, stereotyping them and their culture, neglected by the Grammys entirely (i.e. BLACKPINK, Zayn, and The Weeknd), or egged on until the live ceremony, only to leave empty handed (i.e. SZA, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, and BTS). The thing with creating an "international pop" category is that you'd have to place artists like Harry Styles, Adele, and Dua Lipa there too since they're from England and clearly the Grammys had no problem assimilating people like them into American pop categories. Making a K-Pop category would be so blatantly racist towards Asians. What happens when a Chinese pop artist becomes popular? A Vietnamese artist? Japanese? Do they get lumped into the K-Pop category too? I think the Grammys are doing what they do best RN--ignoring the noise until it's too loud to not acknowledge since doing so would make them look bigoted, so their performance activism comes with giving a group like BTS just enough publicity to catch their fandom's attention, but not too much where they'd overshadow the American artists. They still look bigoted, but they can always say, "Well at least they were NOMINATED!"

Not even a mention about BTS? The Grammys showed their truest colors there. Since nomination categories they refused to nominate their album and songs for the main categories despite the artistry and undeniable popularity. Still, not surprising but then they didn't even pick them to win in the one category they were nominated for and it was aired like an after thought.
And then they dared to use BTS to boost ratings by saving them for last, all the while continuously advertising them and saying they were coming up next to keep the fans hooked.

So in the comments section under my commment I've been hearing an argument that ARMYs, BTS's fandom, are mostly a bunch of toxic trolls who are butt hurt about their faves not winning and because of them other ARMYs don't want to be fans anymore. To that I have made my responses and arguments so I suggest you read that first before posting your arguments. I would also like to say as an active ARMY member 💜 that I call myself such willingly not because of the fandom but because I am moved by my favorite artists work and it's a way to support them. From following their career for so long I've seen the hard work they've put in and I've also seen the discrimination they have faced within the industry and by a lot of the public, simply because they are not the norm.
Especially in these sad times with xenophobic attacks being made on the Asian community and a lack of representation in media, one can't deny the affect a win by this Asian boy group would of made to so many. It is no great stretch to see how disrespectful of this group many public figures and advertisers and trolls have been since and before the losing of the Grammys have been.
We *True* ARMYs are not fixated on the fact that they lost but how they lost and the vague criteria that was presented to us plus no real explanation from Grammys after. We are mad that the Grammys dared to hold our faves hostage for views by keeping their performance from us till second to last by constantly advertising them as coming up next. This despite no award and hyping our expectations in advertising for weeks and then to not release the footage afterwards but releasing other artists performances instead 🤷♀️, once again not responding to any questions or criticism.
With all this in mind how can you not understand the feelings we fans have? You instead fixate on a minority of voices that are probably duplicated by fake accounts 🤨.
And if you don't like their music that is fine but clearly their is a great number of those that do. I don't like country music but I still respect it when it plays.
So grow up people, and open your eyes. Because to me, it looks like many of you are easily being manipulated and fooled.

Like they end in August or something like that which is bs...its not really a cohesive award for each year in music. Either way, 2020 was definitely shit for music and it shows if late 2019 songs are in contention.

I think dua took pop vocal because Taylor’s wasn’t even a “pop” album. If it’s a pop category, FN so deserved the award. Folklore took AOTY because of its critical acclaim and commercial success (longest running #1 album of the year).
