Could it be a sticking thermostat? Things to consider: Flush radiator and replace with 50/50 distilled water and DexCool. Check or change hoses. Replace the thermostat. Replace the radiator cap. Clean any crap between the radiator and the A/C. All of the above is not expensive and not to difficult to do.
@@jeremyrobertson835 yea I bought a new 180 degreee thermostat and water wetter so when I flush the coolant I’m going to do that, also going to clean everything between the radiator and condenser, thanks👍🏽
man i’m happy for you, but i really hope you got a deal you couldn’t resist. i picked my one owner up for 9,000 with 40k miles. good deals are out there, just have to look
The front plastic shroud for the radiator and condenser is missing. That helps the air that’s fed from the bottom to deflect into the radiator. Also double check and make sure the center air dam underneath the car is still there.
@ yep the shroud/dam directs the air into the radiator. There are inexpensive used ones on eBay. Also you’ll need the three piece air dam for under the vette. Mainly the middle section. Full replacements can be picked up from eBay or Amazon. That will drastically help with your cooling issues. In watching your videos, I did see that you were looking at replacing the thermostat but just make sure the coolant system was bled and doesn’t have air bubbles/pockets.
@ that’s good to hear man. I just looked and there’s a few on there but keep an eye out for one that fits your budget. Looking forward to seeing your progress. I have a 99 that I’ve done a bunch work modifying.
Put the factory headlights back in.Those are the ugliest thing you can do to the front of your Vette.Do the sleepy eye something other than whats on it now.Plus kids love the pop ups.And no they really aint much of a problem not enough to ruin the front of the Vette.
I had a 98 for 4 yrs recently lost it in a flash flood in August.. insurance paid i got a 2000 both manual.. you're going to be over $1000 within the first months to a year unfortunately.. automatics also have an issue where the cable breaks and u can't shift into gear .. There is a way u can doit manually under the car but I'm not too familiar as I don't own an auto I'm just in a few FB groups and read a post abt it happening once a week .. for the AC it's either suction hose laying on header causing a small leak , compressor or blend doors . .. if it's the blend doors the whole dash gotta come out to reach them . Hopefully u have better luck than most but these are common issues on these cars
@@Wayne_Aarks yea I found out it’s the compressor gonna be a fun job lol, I got this car for a steal so I’m fine with putting $1000 into it to fix all the issues with it
@DonnyBuilds gonna be alil more than 1000 dogs .. all together I'm saying .. either way don't let it discourage you once u work out the kinks u will enjoy it .. Either way you can always turn around and sell it for way more than u paid so regardless u will still be good

So there’s 2 different pieces that I’m missing that could cause temp to go up to 240 on the highway?
