@@m.d.taverner616 I am sure you will like the new NUVI 2597. I am no longer using the Logitech PTZ Pro Camera because the sensor is very small with poor video quality compared to my new Cameras. Now I am using Canon's new EOS RP Mirrorless Digital Camera.
Thanks for your videos. They make old tech still usable. Unfortunatelly smart link is not syncing traffic data to my Nuvi 3597. It syncs weather, app get's traffic updates, etc.. Latest firmware, maps, etc etc. Any hint?
Hi, you are very welcome. So there is what I recommend. 1. Update the firmware on your GPS 2. Update the Bluetooth Firmware on your GPS 3. Update the Smartlink App on your phone 4. Make sure the app has permission to use Cellular Data, and Bluetooth Radio.
Hello. I have a Garmin Nuvi 2597 and there isn’t a Bluetooth setting when I scroll the them. It’s a rather old unit and not sure if it’s the LMT like the one you showed in your video. Is there any other way to hook my gps unit to my iPhone 7?? I appreciate any comments about this. Thanks for your help and feedback. It will be much appreciated
To backup the GPX file you need the PC Software called Garmin Base Camp. First you have to save it to your PC, then transfer it to any Garmin GPS via the USB cable.

Hello brother. You need to upgrade the Bluetooth firmware on your Garmin to meet the new Bluetooth protocol. To do that you can use Garmin Web Updater, or Garmin Express PC Application. You also need to connect the GPS to your computer via a USB Cable.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 thank you for your answer.but ı just chatted with garmin support service and they said that garmin zumo 550 is not compatible with smart link.unfortunately ı can not sync them.thx.
@@kawaz1ooosx I am sorry to hear that, but there are many other Garmin apps that might be compatible. So search the Google Play Store or Apple App Store for other options. Worst case you can get the free Smartphone app called Waze.
i can't understand the use of the phone via the garmin. the phone works as a phone already, and very well, the garmin simply does the same and with far WORSE sound reproduction than the phone itself. i just don't get it. there seems to be no point at all.
Yes but not all phones are equipped with good sound quality. Some will have improved sound quality when using it through a Garmin GPS. Also Smartphone link is not only for phone use, there are many other features such as Live Traffic Update, Weather Alerts, Rout Calculation based on traffic conditions etc. that are synced to Garmin via a Smartphone.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Ok. Yes I agree regarding the other features for which in fact I use mine. I have even tried to find a way to disable the 'phone' function (due to the poor reproduction from the tiny speaker in the Garmin) so that I only use the data function for traffic inf etc.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Exactly. Sadly the 65 in fact has less (other) features than my 10 year old 3750LM... quite a disappointment. Oh well... I have it now. 😕 🙂
What about searching your phone book hands-free and initiating calls hands-free? Can your phone do that while still in your pocket? Mine can't, so I appreciate Garmin GPSs for these features. Often people have the volume up too high when starting a phone call on a Garmin GPS. I recommend turning it down. Yes, the fidelity isn't quite as good as directly on your phone, but I find it to be good enough, and clearly safer since my hands stay on the wheel while driving, except, if needed, to terminate calls before I reach my destination. So yes, there are reasons for the use of a phone via a Garmin.
