Growing up in Michigan, we loved Alabama's music. Their blue collar roots and rural America centered lyrics spoke to an entire generation all across the country. I'm thankful for TH-cam to be able to re-vist these moments in time. I can still recite so many of their songs lyrics even 40 years later. Sad to read of Jeff Cooks passing. I hope he and the rest of the band recognized the profound impact they had on so many.

No cell phones when you talked to your woman it wasn’t words written on a screen, it was pick up the rotary dial phone call your girlfriend, “Hey SugarPuddin’ be there at 6:00 Friday night, I love you too, later.” Hang the phone up, and if you forgot something you’d call back. There were no school shootings even though you would see pickups with guns in the gun rack during hunting season. I’ve seen guns traded in the school parking lot. If you had an issue with someone you met at the trees and fought it out and 9 times out of 10 you were sitting around a bon fire drinking a beer with them on Friday night. God I miss the 80’s.

The cars and trucks, how they're dressed, that back road with the sun setting behind the trees, the old homes especially the one with all the chairs on the front porch and a clothes line out back, the tractor, the old store, even the saw mill. I watch this video often just to go back to a time when the world was a little kinder and sane.

Driving down the road the other day, I started singing this song even though I haven't heard it in years. I could still remember most of the words. When I was a late teenager, my friends and I would listen to Alabama, Oakridge Boys, Hank Williams Jr..... you get the idea. I drove a pickup truck of coarse. Still do. Then life got more complicated and confusing and I got into listening to heavy metal music which was never upbeat, more angry like I was I guess. But now 35 years later, my life is just about as fine as I could want it to be. So I looked up this song and have listened to it numerous times thinking about my younger days. The good days. Now I have to look up Green River!

@@merykpropst8926 You'll want to stay in all the well lit areas in Mobile. Mobile ain't no place for a Texan to be. It is pretty though. It's not like it is here, in the SW. They've got some issues we don't have to contend with. We don't see these issues in Texas 'till about Dallas and then East. Texas was blessed, no doubt about it.

Even though I'm a suburban northerner born and raised, I belong in a small town in the south. I love the culture, the way of life, the people, the values, everything. I dream of listening to this song while driving down a southern country road in my Silverado with my girlfriend beside me, enjoying life without a care in the world, my definition of true happiness

I love the vocal harmonies. Music today needs progressions and harmonies like this. Particularly, country. It sickens me what mainstream country sounds like today. This song is a soothing balm.

Miss this type of Country Music! These were the ‘Good Ole Days’!
Country Music is not the same music anymore! Many of the new artist have lost their way!
? 4 U - I used to be in your Fan Club for years!! Is there a way I could get an Autographed Picture sent to me if I pay to purchase this from you? Let me know, either way! It’s ok, if no!
