    Thanks for taking the time to make this. I'd love to do this in my Grumman Tiger. I can't lie...I'm a little intimidated by the process but this helps visualize the steps.

    Thank you. This was very informative. I'm about to start new interior on my 182Q.

    I'm really glad you made this video. My F33A has a very worn out interior. I've been considering the Airtex Seat kit. Now that I've seen what it entails I am less apprehensive.

    Mitchell, thank you for sharing. There a lot more work than I thought but your little trick would be a big help. The final product looks great!

    That was really a good explanation/video. I have ordered an interior for my Arrow and am going to start on in this winter. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.

    Very useful posting for any pilot trying to do interior refurb. Airtex does make some of the best upholstery kits available

    You did a fantastic job my friend. Wasn’t long just very informative, sometimes it takes more than just a quick fix video. A lot of these so called diy videos aren’t worth much. This shows problems that arise and how to fix it. Thank you for the information.

    Best video EVER! I had a leather interior done in Italy and was at a loss for doing the final steps of the installation as you show here. Great Video! Thank you!!!

    I have just received my new interior kit from Airtex for my 1976 PA32R-300 Lance I. I just wanted to thank you Mitchell for an extremely informative video. You answered many of the questions I had and I'm sure I'll make many references to this video during the process!

    Based on your video, I attempted and succeeded doing my seats! Thanks for sharing this in such good detail. I also think your trick with the plastic for the seat back is perfect .... worked like a charm for me.

    I have been a aircraft upholster for 50 yrs and owned Be 35 for 40, you did a nice job, most owners that install a airtex kit fuck it it up

    What color/fabric combinations did you get? I am thinking about doing my 1955 v-tail interior (though fabric seats, not leather). Wondering about how the colors look in the plane vs. the tiny samples Airtex sent. Thanks for the video!

    Wow it came out amazing. You definitely know what you are doing and have the right tools to do it. We are kind of doing similar work but bought the side panels from them made out of a corrugated plastic. Looks cheap and flimsy for what we paid but I guess it is light weight. We are having an upholsterer do the seats and cover the side panels. My question is: Does the A&P have to see the steps to sign off on it. I thought they had to.

    • @mitchellburch8464
      @mitchellburch8464  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. No AP sign off for installing the airtex kit. Their materials have been tested for fire resistance etc. the weight difference is negligible.

    Where did you get the insulation from? Nice job on this!

    Great video. Just started doing my Airtex install this week on my Comanche and it's....going :-) QQ for you. Do you have a method for how you glued the panels to the vinyl when it comes to corners and other odd angles? Gluing the aluminum to the back of the foam is easy enough, but when I fold it over to secure the back, I'm having some challenges with the corners. Any advice?

    • @mitchellburch8464
      @mitchellburch8464  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had troubles with corners as well. I found that stretching the vinyl over the corners and getting it to stick maybe a 1/4” in before I started cutting relief cuts worked. Using a heat gun to help get the vinyl to stretch helped as well. You will be surprised how much you can get it to stretch over the corners.

    Beautiful job! I'm looking at the same for my 'new to me' V35B. Paint is good, interior is perished. Did you do the headliner as well?

    • @mitchellburch8464
      @mitchellburch8464  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the headliner back in 2008 when I bought the plane. It was sagging pretty bad. I did take the headliner out and strip it. An interior shop recovered it. I reinstalled it. As I recall, it had the black foam under the vinyl and it was a gooey mess. Took a day to remove the vents etc, strip and clean it.

    Mitchell, thanks for this video, what is the insulation that you installed, I’m guessing it wasn’t part of the kit.

    • @mitchellburch8464
      @mitchellburch8464  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it wasn’t included in the kit. I did get it from Airtex though. I think it was about $270.

    Did your seats have headrests to start? I’ve got a 61 Debonair and would like to add them when I do my airtex interior next fall.

    • @mitchellburch8464
      @mitchellburch8464  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine already had headrests. Don’t know if the 61 seat frame backs are the same.

    What ratio did you use Xylene and airtex glue to get for spray

    • @mitchellburch8464
      @mitchellburch8464  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Used toluene. No set ratio. Just enough to thin the glue a little so it sprayed better.
