- Yuna, Rikku & Paine defeat the final super boss in Final Fantasy X-2, Major Numerus, without using the most game breaking "cheap" abilities, dressphere, statuses or mechanics. Not including ATB Wait abuse or Item Reels though ;)
There is no reason to do this what so ever other than an arbitary challenge for its own sake but I thought it was interesting so thought I'd share it & commentate to explain some things. By no means is this the optimal strategy or even executed that well.
Tl:dw MIghty Guard+ lmao - เกม
Super cool video! I was wanting to see this fight because i saw shinra and shinra and yuna but not all the girls. Good stuff not using the super broken stuff.
Very impressive video! I really appreciate the detailed explanation of what's going on.
Thanks, nice of you to say given the dry delivery.
Very impressive clear, even if using the utterly broken Mighty Guard+ lol but you do have to use _something_ among MG+/Iron Dukes/Mascot/Invincibility/Finale I'm pretty sure (while using one allows skipping all the others) and among those five options this makes for the most interesting fight overall.
Thanks. I think what makes MG+ so unbalanced is how limited YRP is at getting Def & MDef+ w/o it. Songstress takes 20 turns to get just those stat stacks leaving them w/o Protect & Shell and they are among the frailest Dresspheres in the game. What else even has Dep/MDef Up? Ghiki Cheer gives one stack of Def+ on one character? As strong as Mascot is it doesn't have access to them at all surprisingly, Neither does Alchemist though it has the Best Def & Mdef debuff YRP can access. The awful Special Dresspheres I suppose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@illdoitlater4735 I remember trying Trema with a solo char without Mascot or any "gold" tier accessories once and one of the lynchpins for that was Rikku's special dressphere having an ability that grants Def +3, but I doubt using it in the Numerus fight is viable. Haven't tried it to be fair (and it has a _lot_ of HP with a Stamina Tablet in place) but its stats just don't scale.
Very refreshing to see the game played in such an interesting way. It's too bad FFX-2 has so many OP abilities and mechanics that make the more interesting aspects of the battle system irrelevant. Great procedure and great commentary
Thanks stranger. It is rare I do challenges like this as after you plan out a strat, which is the interesting bit, actually playing it is reset until you get a chance to win. When I play casually I opt for strats I find enjoyable while being somewhat consistent. I've been considering making more content about this game as I feel generally people aren't aware of what is actually strong in FFX-2's battle system.
Great video! Very impressive.
One question: how did you calculate that at level 99 YRP would have a 20% chance to evade Break? As far as i know you need to be higher level than the attacker to have resistance to status, and if i'm not mistaken all heads of MN are lv 99
Break's base chance to land is 80 Arcana would be almost useful if Break was 100 ; ) Bio and Confuse are 100 for the record. Death is like 18 iirc
@@illdoitlater4735 thanks for the answer! very interesting! where can this info be found btw? is there something like pbirdman UCG for FFX2?
@@m13ucl71Search for pbirdman x-2 spreadsheet/calculator and you should be able to find a spreadsheet with damage formulae and some other information in it. Or if you can read Japanese get the FFX-2 Ultimania guide from the web archive.
Nicesu~ Is this strat even possible with active atb? Seems kinda insane even with Wait.
Nah, I am abusing ATB Wait a lot. Rikku's opening Megalixir-Might Guard+ requires ATB Wait or every head will get a turn in between the Megalixir and Mighty Guard+ as with Slots after the 1st action subsequent ones enter the queue at the bottom so any enemy action readied after your 1st will go before your 2nd.
Would you ever consider speedrunning Resident Evil?
RE2 was the 2nd game I ever did "speedruns" of, back in the mid 2000s (on PAL lamo) RE CVX runs were how I learned of the NTSC PAL conversion issues which resulted in slower games. I didn't want to import hardware to do runs so never did them years ago & by now the games generally are optimised so are just a grind which I have never been interested in. Truth be told the RE community has always been a bit of a joke in speedrunning w/its everyone gets a WR leaderboards as every single version has a WR for every difficulty and game mode plus it was a drama mill. I did look at RE2make when it was new but due to my aged hardware the FPS memes meant I couldn't be competitive.
