I like videos like these because there's an explanation of the thought process behind moves, and also the idea of "you can't play like stockfish, you have to play like a human" is a helpful mindset.
Yeah as an intermediate player this is a helpful way for me to learn. I often get overwhelmed by all of the possibilities and hearing the reasoning behind moves helps me narrow down choices in my games

I started playing chess 3 weeks and 4 days ago and am up to 750 so far all thanks to your videos! Also I am on a 14-0-1 winning streak right now. Thank u so much for these they are golden. Btw I knew how the pieces move that was my only previous chess experience I played a few games a decade or so ago and lost them all badly

I liked your Game 2 the Scandinavian because I have been struggling against that. The rule is for White to keep the lead in development but a well-placed Black queen can make that very difficult.

To win against under 1200 rated players just dont blunder. They will eventually blunder and lose.

It's legit not a bad advice. Play super safely and eventually people at this rating will blunder an obvious tactic or take a crazy risk to try to break your position.
Although I can confirm that blunders are still very common in the 1300 and 1400.

It's helpful seeing a high level player speak about their moves. The highest I've been is 900 my biggest issue is making awful moves and not captilising on my lead in development

I have a quick question. Which is better?
To learn the basic understandings of different openings partly to understand what your opponent is doing, or to just take one or two and dive into the theory on those ones?
I’ve noticed on your videos that often you know what your opponent is playing, so you know the lines and traps that are equated with their set up, so you know how to navigate through that to have a good set up for the middle game. I’ve been using and developing my understanding of the London and kings Indian systems, but if my opponent is playing moves to undermine why I’m trying to do I don’t catch that cause I haven’t learned the basics of other types of openings. What is a good way to navigate this? My rating is around 800
I would suggest the key isn't to do one or the other, but to keep doing both. Time is your friend and you won't become a grandmaster in a month. Keep studying your two openings in detail, and as you play games where your opponent plays other openings, go study up on what you've seen bit by bit. This will give you some context and familiarity later on when (or rather if) you start studying those other openings.
Of course, take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, as I'm only an 800 myself. Just my two cents based on life experiences.
As a chess com 1400 I can tell you that you can get away with very poor opening knowledge for a long time. I kind of know how to play the london and they are some other openings where I have some idea of how they work but usually no idea of what they're called. For example, I don't know what's the king's indian.
The result is that I probably fall for opening traps more often than most players at my level, but I guess I can still compensate later in the game enough times.
It´s amazing how many things you can think in 3 min game.
I watch these videos and it all makes sense. I try and play the same and get demolished. I haven’t been able to pass 855 and consistently fall into loss strings where I lose 50-100pts

14:47 After Bg4, what’s wrong with N2f3? With Rg1 as a follow up, I probably would have ruled out Bg1.
Having said that, I sometimes rule out moves that are actually really good….
Both c5 and Nc6 are strong responses, trying to remove the knight from d4. Rg1 isn't actually a threat since the knight on f3 is pinned.

I like watching your videos... Seen almost all of them... As I'm watching the things that you explain make perfect sense... However when I play no matter how low the rating may be... even if I follow advice tips and tactics that you give it's fruitless.. I've tried all different kinds of openings following all different kinds of instructions and guidelines and ideas from professionals and i cant get to 600.. nothing infuriates me more can't you study hard try my best and still not be good at all..like not even a lil
In fact if I had to sum it up it would be like a midget trying to play basketball in the NBA... No matter how much you may like the game he's not going to have fun.. because no matter how hard he tries it won't make a difference
