I agree. I saw Rudy pull out a momento and cry over what it represented. Too many reactors got hung up on the object’s origin. These two didn’t. It was nice to see them focus on Rudy beginning to move past his depression.
There's another one that I can remember, and I won't mention her name here because I feel like it's kinda unethical to kinda promote another channel in someone's channel, but yeah, I must have seen maybe more than 10 reactions to this episode and only that girl and this couple felt the emotions when Rudy was crying, even more so in this channel because Ben and Anna actually got teary eyed.
Yup, I was waiting for their reaction as I knew they would treat that scene well. The only other reactors who would show maturity and respect that scene for what it portrayed would be Semblance Of Sanity I am betting when they start this season.

for real. it was so refreshing im so happy they didn't just laugh at it. the panties is essentially one of the most important things rudy has on his person that he uses it to calm himself down whenever he has a panic attack which is super pivotal for his character at this point in the story
Its honestly such a beautiful contrast between Eris's hair and Roxy's panties he has with him. One makes him depressed and is holding him back from living his new life while the other gives him purpose and motivation to keep working hard and not the make the mistakes he made in previous life. So glad he burned it and has taken such an important step to keep going. Mushoku Tensei's storytelling is on another level.
Yeah, this is the only really good reaction I've seen. They've been pretty great with MT for a while. (were some silly stuff in the past) Most are so childish, ruins such a deep and emotional sequence. Stop even paying attention to the screen, just laughing, joking or being "outraged". It's some panties, big deal. Get over it lol The ending of the ep. was super good, so that has been mildly annoying. Has been the case for 98% of them.

Yup, Mushoku Tensei is a quality show which very few reactors can appreaciate. These two and Semblance Of Sanity are the only ones I am planning on watching.
He must have a thing for the cute blond look. I won't like I was not big on Sara in LN. (At first I've warmed up since.) I did not dislike her though. In the anime shes already growing on me. She has that naive still learning the way of life kind of thing. Shes kind of impulsive but not really like how Eris is. At least not all the way. I like her growl... When shes a lot older she could be a Zenith replacement for now shes just a fun character to have around.

Many of the females in this series are top tier in their own way. But not for their current ages at least not in that way. I still love just about every character. As a LN reader I identify with there older selfs. It's jarring seeing some of them so young. They are younger than they look which is even worse. But that's anime in general not even MT thing. But I love how this series actually reaches adulthood. So it can stop being weird. It's still fine to like there characters I'm not specifically saying they are top tier for their looks. But later on in the series it's okay to say that. P.S Aisha and Norn are forever stuck in protect mode for me. I can't help but to see them as my actual sisters in a way. That's just how a lot of light novel readers are with how they develop all these characters so well. Even as adults they must always be in protect mode if you know what I mean.

One great detail they showed in the show was in the beginning of the episode he closed his Room's shutters as if he was closing himself off from the world but then towards the end he re-opened the shutters again.
My god, your reaction is a breath of fresh air from all other reactors who were laughing when Rudy was crying and clutching Roxy's holy relic. Like I get it, it's panties, but to Rudy, it's so much more than that. It's a memento from his master who removed his fear of going out and had such a positive impact on his psyche. There's no shed of perversion on his mind when he was clutching the panties in this episode. I'm glad you two also felt the emotion in that scene. Also, I love the artistic decision to not have any music for the first half of the episode, making us really feel what Rudy was feeling more. Like there's no music, because he's grieving the loss of his relationship.
No bgm at all until Rudy stopped dissociating/feeling like absolute garbage and that fire was lit inside him. Closing the blinds when he first got to the inn room (shutting himself off the world) vs not closing them at the end of the episode, also him being fractured when he's seen through those window panes, as if he's ... broken. Just pure perfection from Studio Bind.

man, i can't wait for their reactions to the ACTUAL turning point 3 and 4 turning points in this story is no small matter, hearing them bring it up without knowing is like hearing those adventurers at the gates mention the seven great powers, which i know you can't blame them for not knowing, but i'm just so excited for them to see for themselves
my favorite part of this episode is the moment Sara look amazed by the fire spell of rudy just like Eris was amazed by the firework the first time they meet with the same zoom on their eye
I know so many have said it already, but i loved their reaction especially with rudy by the fire with the panties. It's a funny throwback on the surface, but it's deep. The origin of them is pervered, but theyre the only thing he has from her since he gave Ruijerd his charm necklace from her. So he's just clinging to whatever comfort he can find right now
It should be noted that commoners don't really have last names, Suzanne didn't give one, Sylphy didn't have one. So Rudy introducing himself with a last name could give off a certain impression to adventurers, who are typically not high up in the societal latter. In the demon continent it's a bit different, your last name is your tribe. Roxy Migurdia is attaching her to the migurd tribe/people and not her family.

Such a great way for them to establish the mindset, growth and goals for rudeus moving forward, I was happy that they address it directly and look to be focusing on growth rather than stagnation for the season.
Great video! Here are a few details from the light novels about that final fight if anyone is interested. The job was to slay the bears, as they become aggressive in the winter when food is scarce. I get the impression that they are just trying to keep their population from growing too large. They attack the Grizzlies at night, due to the monsters having bad eye sight. Due to the poor lighting however, Sara fails to spot a second much larger pack sleeping in a muddy bog. The mud camouflaged them in the dark. The whole thing about Rudy not fighting back against the bears at first isn't in the light novel. Instead it's seeing the party prepare to face off against an enemy they can't beat that spurs him into action. I think it's a good change though, as it's just another way to show he's taking on a reckless job without really caring if he lives or dies, without the benefit of all the extra internal monologue we get from Rudy in the light novel. On Rudy's choice to use fire magic, they did need to bring back their tails as proof they completed the job, so maybe it wasn't the best choice. At the time I think he was just focused on saving the group and wiping out the threat. They didn't need the pelts to complete they job though, those are just a bonus that they can sell on the side. In the light novel, once he's killed the majority with fire, then he switches to stone cannon to finish the rest. At that point the rest of the party helped in finishing off the remaining monsters. While most of the Grizzlies were chard to a crisp, there were several who's pelts were undamaged due to being kill by other means, so it's these they bring back to sell. There is still way more than they can carry, so they burn the rest. This also prevents the monsters coming back as zombies, which is a thing in the Mushoku Tensei world.

The spell names kinda remind me of Final Fantasy spell names, like how the weaker variants of the spell have shorter names -- Fira and Firaga, and here we have Exa-Flame and Exodus Flame. This series always makes me wanna play a JRPG.
The Sara Eris comparison is interesting, because we do sort of have a biased narrator. It'll be interesting to see how much similarity we find between them is just due to Rudy's projections and his personal interactions with her.
This show definitely knows how to do flashbacks. No 10 minute repeats of previous episodes ala Naruto style, but just flashes of images and such so that you know exactly what's going through a character's mind without wasting any time. I'll happily wait a couple of years between seasons if they keep going to all these measures to produce such a good adaptation. Man I can't wait for the season finale!
Btw, I'm pretty sure many windows made from smaller round blobs in frames is a pretty historical element, considering it's extremely difficult to make proper big panes of glass without them breaking. That's why glass products and windows were so expensive. Only in the 19th century was the float glass method developed.

Signing the paper in this world is like a minor magical contract. It’s imbued with magic circle that has the same properties as the guild tag. Turning Point 1 was the mana disaster, changing the story from a slice of life Isekai into an adventure Isekai. Turning Point 2 changed *all three* of the main characters(at that point in the story) by making them see first hand how outclassed they are for the first time since they formed their party. This episode didn’t have any massive changes to the story. It was just a repeat of season 1’s final episode of him getting back on his feet again. Only this time, it was a different emotional change in him. The next Turning Point won’t be until later in the season.

my favorite thing about this anime, the creators waste absolutely no time on filler. Every second is used for the story, even the opening and ending like most other animes waste 5 minutes that coulda been used on storytelling. The directors have giving us something new and special that i hope other directors pick up on.
In the Light Novel, Eris leave her Panties with him , while she take his underwears with her. So the act of burning Eris underwears, while holding on Roxy panties is such a strong statement. It make sure that panties is not just about perversion for Rudy but a memento of someone.

This episode was beautifully handled and it makes me excited because it's not my favorite part of this arc yet. If they adapted the rest just as faithfully, it'll be amazing.
The Exodus Flame Rudy casts this episode does not compare to the fireball he cast against Orsted. It was powerful though. It goes to show one of his biggest strength which is his ability to manipulate spells by adding more mana or changing how they act or are cast. His signature spell Quagmire (he used it to trap the bears) or his other signature spell Stone Cannon are great examples of this. Usually Rudy will cast a stone cannon that fits his current situation. Against humans he makes them blunt and just enough force to not kill, while against Orsted he massively powered it up, made it spin and gave it bullet like qualities which made it powerful enough to scratch even Orsted (albeit just scratch). Quagmire on the other hand is an original / combined spell using water and earth magic to create, well, a Quagmire. He's been using it ever since S1 even in his first fight against Paul or his later fight against Paul. Since there is no official incantation for it other people would have a hard time casting it and since no one really knows it well it's hard to counter it too. We've learned about the basics of how spell casters rank, with Rudy officially being Saint tier in water magic, but we'll eventually learn more about how these ranks actually apply and what that means for Rudy. Especially interesting being how one advances from Saint to King and beyond.
We'll get a good measurement of exactly how powerful Rudy is right now in the next couple of episodes. And then another one somewhere in the second part of this season.
I'm having a hard time remembering if our purple friend shows up before or in volume 9 or not. I sure hope so since otherwise we'd have to wait all the way until April for him.
The fire spell Rudeus uses here is the same one Cliff used in the Goblin Slayer episode; "Exodus Flame" which is an advanced tier fire spell. I do wish Rudeus called off the name, like he did in the novel.
I think it was called off just to give the reader the name of the spell where as in the anime why would he call off a spell when he can silently cast it?

On one hand I love the choice of leaving the names out since it really shows the contrast between him and traditional casters. On the other hand anime only enjoyers will have a hard time knowing what spell is what.

It’s nothing. Just registering for a room like any other hotel. The surprised face was because Rudeus uses Adrian currency, which is worth more than Bashirant money. He paid quite a bit. And the Turning Point titles are related to a very specific thing. This part of the story is completely unrelated.
Hi guys, wanted to say ur reactions are thoughtful and fun. Maybe u guys missed an imp detail, in all flashbacks Eris is not shown, his burning her hair means ihe is over her now, and will be indifferent towards her. The anime skipped his ED problems with severe trama due to Eris .
I can't wait for this episode! Pressing play as soon as I save my video game so I can focus on this instead. lol I already know this will be an amazing reaction video for one of my favourite reaction channels. And the episode is fire and really set my worries aside from seasons 2. Yes there were a few small changes in this episode. That's normal for any adaptation. Nothing super bad. Only one change i sort of dislike. I'm not going to get into it. If others share some of the differences that is fine. Sometimes I fill in needed information but this episodes was great. The anime is it's only thing anyways it's a good adaption.
Would you guys consider getting into the Fate series? Your dissections of the story and characters would be amazing for that series and I think a lot of people would enjoy the reactions as well. Love your Videos!
most fate adaptions require books of reading to even understand what's happening. Probably fate/zero would be good enough. Maybe fate/stay night... but most of it is esoteric as all heck.
One of the things that stood out to me is when Rudy keep saying "they are so much a like" two or three times. I thought it was weird because the two female adventurers that he met were nothing like each other. However, when they overlaid Eris and Ghislaine, I finally got what he meant. It was a nice subtle why to let us know how much Eris and Ghislaine were still on his mind.
Spoilers: ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ ㅤ I hope they adapt the red district scene to the anime, because I personally find that scene quite emotional and what a great help it was for Rudeus
@hidetakamiyazaki1825 In short, after having problems with Sara, Rudeus and the guy he was traveling with from now on went to the red light district in search of "fixing" the problem he had; the person with whom he would spend the night in the end didn't work, what I liked a lot was how the author used a character that anyone would see with a bad mood (her work) in someone who would let Rudeus know how positive his impact is in the area and how loved he is, even helping to make him understand that his problem is not something that is easily fixed with sex, but it has to be with someone special; basically all this was just positive psychology
@hidetakamiyazaki1825 its when Rudy (with Soldat) goes around brothels trying to heal his boner issue. He finds a hooker who was the mother of someone he previously helped.. She goes out of her way to try help him because of that. Spending hours doing diff stuff to try get him hard. After failing she talks him through his emotions. In the end the hooker helps Rudy sort out his feelings which convinces him to join Soldats party. She later discusses this stuff with Sarah after Rudy ditches the town with Soldat. Im also curious at how they do the Sarah/Rudy "sex" scene... considering how awkward it turns out. Hopefully its done tastefully.
You should never look at characters like they are "devices" or have "roles". They are real life people with feelings and and they live in a real world. Dont look at it like its a show. You always have to think from the inworld persepective. Like you were also part of the world. So when a group of characters introduce yourself to you that first thing you should be thinking isnt: They are all going to die cause they introduced themselves, but nice to meet you and lets see how this new group is while still keeping in mind that this world is dangerous and bad stuff can always happen.

Based on looks when it comes to 1st time impressions, 100% Sara, but what we know now, in terms of anime-only content, in no world or universe, I would pick Sara over Eris.

With a significant difference in scale. Rudeus is a living testament that any spell can be a high level spell, if you have the juice to get it there.

It should be noted that commoners don't really have last names, Suzanne didn't give one, Sylphy didn't have one. So Rudy introducing himself with a last name could give off a certain impression to adventurers, who are typically not high up in the societal latter.
In the demon continent it's a bit different, your last name is your tribe. Roxy Migurdia is attaching her to the migurd tribe/people and not her family.

Great video! Here are a few details from the light novels about that final fight if anyone is interested.
The job was to slay the bears, as they become aggressive in the winter when food is scarce. I get the impression that they are just trying to keep their population from growing too large.
They attack the Grizzlies at night, due to the monsters having bad eye sight. Due to the poor lighting however, Sara fails to spot a second much larger pack sleeping in a muddy bog. The mud camouflaged them in the dark.
The whole thing about Rudy not fighting back against the bears at first isn't in the light novel. Instead it's seeing the party prepare to face off against an enemy they can't beat that spurs him into action. I think it's a good change though, as it's just another way to show he's taking on a reckless job without really caring if he lives or dies, without the benefit of all the extra internal monologue we get from Rudy in the light novel.
On Rudy's choice to use fire magic, they did need to bring back their tails as proof they completed the job, so maybe it wasn't the best choice. At the time I think he was just focused on saving the group and wiping out the threat. They didn't need the pelts to complete they job though, those are just a bonus that they can sell on the side.
In the light novel, once he's killed the majority with fire, then he switches to stone cannon to finish the rest. At that point the rest of the party helped in finishing off the remaining monsters.
While most of the Grizzlies were chard to a crisp, there were several who's pelts were undamaged due to being kill by other means, so it's these they bring back to sell. There is still way more than they can carry, so they burn the rest. This also prevents the monsters coming back as zombies, which is a thing in the Mushoku Tensei world.
This guys just don't miss, its clear how much they love this show!

The Sara Eris comparison is interesting, because we do sort of have a biased narrator. It'll be interesting to see how much similarity we find between them is just due to Rudy's projections and his personal interactions with her.

This show definitely knows how to do flashbacks. No 10 minute repeats of previous episodes ala Naruto style, but just flashes of images and such so that you know exactly what's going through a character's mind without wasting any time. I'll happily wait a couple of years between seasons if they keep going to all these measures to produce such a good adaptation. Man I can't wait for the season finale!
Btw, I'm pretty sure many windows made from smaller round blobs in frames is a pretty historical element, considering it's extremely difficult to make proper big panes of glass without them breaking. That's why glass products and windows were so expensive. Only in the 19th century was the float glass method developed.

35:17 No, it shouldn’t. If you think that, then you still don’t understand the Turning Points. The Turning Points are events that lead to *massive* changes in the story. Turning Point 1 was the mana disaster, changing the story from a slice of life Isekai into an adventure Isekai. Turning Point 2 changed *all three* of the main characters(at that point in the story) by making them see first hand how outclassed they are for the first time since they formed their party. This episode didn’t have any massive changes to the story. It was just a repeat of season 1’s final episode of him getting back on his feet again. Only this time, it was a different emotional change in him. The next Turning Point won’t be until later in the season.

my favorite thing about this anime, the creators waste absolutely no time on filler. Every second is used for the story, even the opening and ending like most other animes waste 5 minutes that coulda been used on storytelling. The directors have giving us something new and special that i hope other directors pick up on.
In the Light Novel, Eris leave her Panties with him , while she take his underwears with her. So the act of burning Eris underwears, while holding on Roxy panties is such a strong statement. It make sure that panties is not just about perversion for Rudy but a memento of someone.

The Exodus Flame Rudy casts this episode does not compare to the fireball he cast against Orsted. It was powerful though. It goes to show one of his biggest strength which is his ability to manipulate spells by adding more mana or changing how they act or are cast.
His signature spell Quagmire (he used it to trap the bears) or his other signature spell Stone Cannon are great examples of this.
Usually Rudy will cast a stone cannon that fits his current situation. Against humans he makes them blunt and just enough force to not kill, while against Orsted he massively powered it up, made it spin and gave it bullet like qualities which made it powerful enough to scratch even Orsted (albeit just scratch).
Quagmire on the other hand is an original / combined spell using water and earth magic to create, well, a Quagmire. He's been using it ever since S1 even in his first fight against Paul or his later fight against Paul. Since there is no official incantation for it other people would have a hard time casting it and since no one really knows it well it's hard to counter it too.
We've learned about the basics of how spell casters rank, with Rudy officially being Saint tier in water magic, but we'll eventually learn more about how these ranks actually apply and what that means for Rudy. Especially interesting being how one advances from Saint to King and beyond.
We'll get a good measurement of exactly how powerful Rudy is right now in the next couple of episodes. And then another one somewhere in the second part of this season.
I'm having a hard time remembering if our purple friend shows up before or in volume 9 or not. I sure hope so since otherwise we'd have to wait all the way until April for him.

The fire spell Rudeus uses here is the same one Cliff used in the Goblin Slayer episode; "Exodus Flame" which is an advanced tier fire spell. I do wish Rudeus called off the name, like he did in the novel.
I think it was called off just to give the reader the name of the spell where as in the anime why would he call off a spell when he can silently cast it?

Pressing play as soon as I save my video game so I can focus on this instead. lol I already know this will be an amazing reaction video for one of my favourite reaction channels. And the episode is fire and really set my worries aside from seasons 2. Yes there were a few small changes in this episode. That's normal for any adaptation. Nothing super bad. Only one change i sort of dislike. I'm not going to get into it. If others share some of the differences that is fine. Sometimes I fill in needed information but this episodes was great. The anime is it's only thing anyways it's a good adaption.

most fate adaptions require books of reading to even understand what's happening. Probably fate/zero would be good enough. Maybe fate/stay night... but most of it is esoteric as all heck.

One of the things that stood out to me is when Rudy keep saying "they are so much a like" two or three times. I thought it was weird because the two female adventurers that he met were nothing like each other. However, when they overlaid Eris and Ghislaine, I finally got what he meant. It was a nice subtle why to let us know how much Eris and Ghislaine were still on his mind.

I hope they adapt the red district scene to the anime, because I personally find that scene quite emotional and what a great help it was for Rudeus
@hidetakamiyazaki1825 In short, after having problems with Sara, Rudeus and the guy he was traveling with from now on went to the red light district in search of "fixing" the problem he had; the person with whom he would spend the night in the end didn't work, what I liked a lot was how the author used a character that anyone would see with a bad mood (her work) in someone who would let Rudeus know how positive his impact is in the area and how loved he is, even helping to make him understand that his problem is not something that is easily fixed with sex, but it has to be with someone special; basically all this was just positive psychology
@hidetakamiyazaki1825 its when Rudy (with Soldat) goes around brothels trying to heal his boner issue. He finds a hooker who was the mother of someone he previously helped.. She goes out of her way to try help him because of that. Spending hours doing diff stuff to try get him hard. After failing she talks him through his emotions. In the end the hooker helps Rudy sort out his feelings which convinces him to join Soldats party.
She later discusses this stuff with Sarah after Rudy ditches the town with Soldat. Im also curious at how they do the Sarah/Rudy "sex" scene... considering how awkward it turns out. Hopefully its done tastefully.

You should never look at characters like they are "devices" or have "roles". They are real life people with feelings and and they live in a real world. Dont look at it like its a show. You always have to think from the inworld persepective. Like you were also part of the world. So when a group of characters introduce yourself to you that first thing you should be thinking isnt: They are all going to die cause they introduced themselves, but nice to meet you and lets see how this new group is while still keeping in mind that this world is dangerous and bad stuff can always happen.
