My friend summed up this new version of Rock perfectly as "Violently Hilarious". 😂
The real final boss is actually the people. The fans of the show. Since The Rock is the People Champ. It just alligned well. This is my take on what The Final Boss is.

Yet in AEW some of the young roster pillars and new generation don’t or won’t take any advice from the older generation and the wrestlers from the Monday night wars …yet that’s why you see those arrogant wrestlers taking shots at WWE and claiming they’re better than their rival promotion when really they should focus on their own product (AEW) and storytelling…all they want to do is create 5 star matches with no meaning behind it. 😂😂😂😂 If Tony Khan hears another twitter response he’ll go ballistic.

They’re trying real hard now but it’s just not even close to being as organic and as gritty as those couple of years at the end of the 90s. That was and will forever be the greatest time for wrestling. The Rock isn’t even playing his character right. What made him a great heel was that he acted as if the crowd loved him even when they hated his guts. It was hilarious. And StoneCold was effortlessly the antihero and he would jump in the ring and fight 20 guys twice his size all by himself if he had too. With Vince being in control of the company but not strong enough to beat anybody up it made the perfect counter balance to Austin. They are never gonna duplicate that magic but good for them for finally trying to make it happen. If they only had a Brock Lesnar type of figure as a foil to this version of heel Rock it might feel a little more natural and real but as it stands right now they have a ways to go in my opinion.
this is all about getting rock famous again for his presidential run, PG WWE is never going to be good again because heels cant be heels and promos are scripted and written by DEI dorks. I also agree with your excellent point that Rock is even doing his own character right, he was never an intimidating brute.

The only reason The Rock became The Final Boss is because The People wanted Cody to finish the story. Which he did. Roman still being champion was getting stale and boring.
