Thank you for this Jonathan. I'm a baby ICU nurse (one year post uni) and the plan was to ease my way into vented patients. Obviously this won't be the case so work such as yours is invaluable. Again - thank you!
Good luck and thank you! I'm a junior doc on covid ward and trying to prepare in case we are needed for ventilated patients. Remember it's okay to not know and to ask for help #teamNHS xx
That Hamilton simulator is HORRIBLE! Here's the thing. You can't precisely set the patient's rate and volume, and effort. You have very few choices as to what you want to have the patient participate in, and then it's a royal pain getting your setting to kick in, as regards to the patient parameters!! Trust me. I've used that exact simulator. I HATE IT!!! Drager use to have some good simulators, but now the Adobe Flash Player is unusable, so those simulators are now unusable. Back in 2013, when I worked with the Drager Simulators, those programs were TREMENDOUSLY WONDERFUL!!!! Now they're all gone! But your video was absolutely SPECTACULAR!! I LOVE your videos, and have subscribed!
Hello. First of all, great video! I have a question though: Were you able to set up the simulator to simulate a patient breathing actively? I tried to but was unable to and I need it for demonstration purposes. I couldn't find a video on your channel explaining this. Thanks in advance, Gustavo
Hey. You said last year that Hamilton is releasing a new ventilator simulator, when I commented on this video. Do you know if they've released this simulator? I don't like this simulator. The older Hamilton ventilator simulators allowed you to use the P/V tool, the 100% fiO2 suction hard key, and other hard keys! I can't do that with this new simulator. I can't simulate turning this thing completely off, as you would do when the ventilator is being taken out of use. The older simulators let you do that. They don't work anymore
When is Hamilton coming out with their new simulator? Yeah, I tried again today to get the simulator to simulate a patient going from passive to spontaneous breathing. Had him in SCMV, and had him letting the machine perform all of the work. Then I switched the patient model to active, setting the effort, and sure enough, NOTHING. He didn't perform any spontaneous effort. I had to restart the simulator to get it to do what I wanted to do without restarting the simulator. I have no access to a good ventilator simulator. They all cost. The one that doesn't, this simulator is horrible.

The Psync aligns the pressure support with the set Pinsp. If you want to manually set the pressure support, turn off (uncheck) Psync.
Thanks Bruce.
Thanks for this. The simulator is excellent 👌
Hi, can I ask what simulator this is. My course director at uni wishes to know for possible purchase to assist physio students?
You can find it on the Hamilton website
Well done. Where are you? I'm in Respiratory school, need more videos please lol.

Thank you. Hamilton tell me they are releasing a new simulator soon.

I am still awaiting information from them on this subject.
