  • Today's video, is a follow on, and the second video of the new tong making series. I make a pair of bolt jaw tongs to fit 8 mm round bar as well as square bar. I also got through some of my previous pairs of bolt jaw tongs and explain where I went wrong in making them, so you don't repeat the same mistakes I made!
I hope you like it, and get ready for some more tong making videos in the future.

Fantastic! Looking forward to the wolf jaw tong video. As someone who's just starting out, those are the tongs I use for 80-90% of everything I'm working on, so it'd be nice to use a pair that I made!

I like the use of 20x10 bar. I just made some scrolling tongs after watching your other video and we used 15mm square instead and it was a load harder to make. I sought instruction from my mentor smithy and I suppose that’s how he’s always made it. I’m going to try your method for a set of these tongs. I’ll need to make myself a block to open up the isolation before I get into it I suppose.

You can come on the corners of the anvil to get at the material although that can be a little awkward. Give it a try 👍
