    "French Industrial Hardcore"
    Before "Frenchcore" and frankly a MASSIVE influence on Deathchant as a label & facilitated its adaptation of the brutal beats coming out of France Mid / Late 90's.
    If the names XMF, Contrarotative, Golghott, KKI, Epiteph, KS, B.E.A.S.T, S.O.D.O.M, Dead End & Gangsta Tunes Industry mean anything to you - you know whats coming....If not.....Get ready for face melt :) :)
    (WARNING: May also contain Hardcore from other countries :) :) :)
    Dont at me, you train-spotter freaks :) :)
    Not for the faint hearted - but oozing machine funk.
    Rare gems & forgotten bombs a plenty .....Luke forgets NOTHING

    Armaguet Nad, Speedyq's, Fist of Fury, these guys were the true sound of the free parties in France in the late 90's. Raw, powerfull, industrial, this is probably my favorite techno style. Too bad this style has now been replaced by what we call now "frenchcore" in rave parties, glad there are still some heroes spinning these old gems.

    • @MartinM46086

      Korben Dallas unfortunate Thing is That if you wanna spin some of these and werent so lucky to get Them decades ago, you might face prices near or over three digits for a record now which has a hc Head decide between food or some quality vinyl :(

      Frenchcore is cool too. For example Neurotoxic has great releases :)
      It's pretty funny seeing someone remniscing of the good ol' real french hardcore days. In my country there was no such thing as a free party in the 90s or even early 2000s.
      At our parties people usually play tribe & hardtek, try to go harder, faster or with a bit of distortion and lots of hats and people go "meh". :)

      It’s good to know that hardcore techno is now mainstream and only a handful of players from the start knew this shit was the future of dance parties and kept it alive👊 like this guy right here! Mad respect ✊

    These labels pushed the boundaries of what is music in its essence? Creating a sound that is "hardcore" which makes it by nature creative, experimental, innovative and challenges the other genres continually , hardcore is the bastard child of house music acid house and subsequent genre . A rebellious two fingers in the face of every other genres ,it's openness and our artists willingness to incorporate any sounds from any form or genre is it's greatest strength ,other genres have slowly and gradually increased in tempo and fuller larger kick drums over the years a testament to hardcore!!
    PTH,CTRV,ANTiCORE,GTI,PRAXIS,BLOC46,DEAD END,SANSKOM,BLOODYFIST, TT,KZ, SODOM, etc..etc.. and last but not least the 150 yrs of the hip-hop, break cutting ,techno jism ,kick drum crunching that is our DEATHCHANT ... I salute you and a massive thankyou to the one and only a true master DJ and gentlemen Mr luke McMillan for " putting this together too"👌

      @@ooo-rl7zt yes edm was americas way of side stepping their rave act I believe . In the same way in uk we had the criminal justice bill.And also Australia ,I'm not familar on your location , the term in America edm raised questions about promoting raves as rave is synonymous with drugs hens edm,the word rave connatates drugs, here in the uk our rave culture became extremely policed ,I don't personally like edm nor rave to describe my musical taste as it were ,I much prefer "bloody good party " plenty of hard techno ,hardcore ,speed core ,Fucking banging night, oh and btw,if its less then 20,000 its not a rave ok .

  • @origamibulldoser1618
    @origamibulldoser1618 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Keep coming back to this mix again and again. There's something here that was lost along the way I feel. Not that the hardcore of today is worse or boring. There's lots of good new stuff I love, buy and play, but I do think there's an edge here I don't hear anymore. And I'm not saying that out of nostalgia, because I didn't hear this music when I grew up. You can't even sell the kickdrum in this style, which is often the selling point nowadays I feel. It doesn't have the spectacular kicks of today. But still it sounds completely anti-social.
    I don't know. I'm waxing philosophic about something I don't understand. Does it have a psychedelic edge that most hardcore doesn't anymore? Is it that there's more space in the mix to do more variation in ideas? Maybe I am just old and like older production styles better. *shrug*

    • @rorz999
      @rorz999 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think there's a few different factors at play.
      Firstly, in terms of ideas, hardcore and gabba became a formula like everything else.
      In terms of production... samplers and outboard gear have a certain sound/sheen. Sounds weren't compressed and cleaned up within an inch of their life, and kick drums weren't tuned perfectly. Producers used analog mixing desks where they could tweak the EQs a bit but not scoop out entire frequency bands.
      The old producers had ideas and a vibe, and kind of made do with a decent enough mixdown, they were learning on the job. With modern productions, the knowledge and the technology is there, but the ideas aren't. Maybe because the music isn't such new territory.
      This isn't a diss btw, I don't hate new music on principle, there's still plenty of good stuff out there. It's just my two cents!

    soooo fun!!!! it is a war crime u didn't post the tracklist 😭 back to the deep dark corners of discogs i go lol! seriously though labels like dead end and sodom will always have a very special place in my heart -- i remember hearing angel flo's release on dead end limited for the first time and i was instantly sucked into this sphere of music, it wasnt even conscious. the unparalleled chaos and brutality of it all gives way to the oddest feelings of clarity. some of my favorite records of that time i literally fall asleep to now because they feel like such home! theres nothing else like the sound these artists cultivated during that period of time in france, it is very much a piece of me and seeing mixes like these always make me happy for that reason ❤

The Nowadays Frenchcore it's too predictable and Minimal , But the Real Hard French sounds more elaborated than the Nowadays "Frenchcore" , However. Amazing Mix My Favorite Track is "Sarin Assault - San Ku Kai 56:20 " (Top Track ❤❤❤)

    How this became the frenchcore today, I will never understand. It has literally nothing in common with that pop trash.

    • @n.shostakovich8248
      @n.shostakovich8248 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think the development goes something like: french industrial hardcore -> radium/micropoint -> radium develops signature frenchcore we know today -> radium starts using hip-hop and wacky samples -> other producers like speed freak start producing the same style, that style spreads and others copy it. i actually enjoy some earlier frenchcore, like androgyn network, 2003-ish radium, fish and producer also sometimes used the radium kick. It adds a nice drive, but its sad to see how dumbed down a once good idea became. But i think thats just the situation we have nowadays. Younger producers lack knowledge about the roots of the genre they make, so they'll just try to create something that gets them attention fast, and some pop song bootleg does the job. At least we still got the old stuff thats still fresh
