It's a measure of the genius of Mozart that this masterpiece isn't even on the radar of many classical music fans. That's perhaps the price he paid for giving the world such a vast number of great works.
I'm a 75 year old man, years removed from the concert stage, just thrilled and chilled and loving this delightful performance. Thank you, all, for this.
Mozart clearly had a fun time composing the last movement, with one playful, joyful variation after another. Such a pleasure to listen to this performance.
Classical master pieces like this are from Heaven. Once you learn to appreciate them, you can't go back to listen to modern pop music /songs that are basically junk foods.
I heard this concerto live a few years ago when my local orchestra performed it. I haven’t heard it for a while, but coming back to it I am in absolute awe and can not stop listening, Bravo!!!👏👏👏👏👏
The rest of the story is worth knowing. (...) It was at the very height of this concertante rage that Mozart arrived in Paris, in March 1778. On April 5th, almost immediately afterwards, he wrote home that he was about to compose a sinfonia concertante for flute, oboe, horn and bassoon. The symphonie was composed at the order of Jean Le Gros, director of the famed Paris Concert Spirituel, and the score was turned over to him for performance in that spring or summer of 1778, at the height of the concertante fad. Mozart expected it to bowl over the concertante 'fans' -but the performance never took place. It was conveniently 'forgotten'. Petty intrigue, against the brilliant intruder from Salzburg who was breaking into the local market with dangerously superior product. Mozart, always suspicious of his rivals (and invariably tactless), for once seems to have put his finger on the true offender-Cambini, the very man who had so recently put his assembly for concertante musical into top-speed operation. Mozart wrote home on May 1st, speaking of his troubles with Le Gros, that he thought Cambini was surely 'at the bottom of the business'. Not only did Cambini recognize Mozart's talent ('una gran testa'). On April 15, only a week or so before Mozart delivered his musical to Le Gros, Cambini had presented at the Concert Spirituel a Symphonie Concertante for exactly the same four instruments...! Bravo! I last played this about 35 years ago! This performance has really good playing throughout - a very well blended and balanced quartet, and that is a beautiful sound you make Angel. Loved the tasteful ad lib ornamentation which you put in, which I guess players of the day may well have done - it gives the whole thing a heightened and almost improvised freedom. Well done, I really enjoyed it.
Overall a nice performance... senor Fernandez, needs help with his embrochure. No Einsetzen and too much pressure. Kudos to the other of the quartet. Well done orchestra.
I am not a musician. But I find the oboe overpowering. If I were not watching the video, I would have thought this was an oboe concerto. Perhaps, a flute in place of the oboe would have provided a better "balance". Again, I am not a musician.
Great observation! Actually, there's a controversy about the authorship of this piece. It could be an arrange wrongly atributed to Mozart, who anounced through his letters that was writting a new Sinfonia Concertante for flute, oboe, basson and horn. You can find a reconstruction of this "original" sinfonia in the Philips's Complete Mozart Edition. It sounds more balanced to me!
El mayor pero que le pongo a esta interpretación es la elección del clarinete, creo que no conecta en absoluto con la idea de lo que es interpretar a MOZART, esto es Mozart no es Jazz.
Mozart is pure emotion and beauty personified. Bittersweet in its purest form.
This version is as fresh as ever!!!

Perhaps one of my favorite Mozart pieces. It's just an absolutely charming, upbeat and happy piece. Bravo to the performers!!
Hundred per cent agree with you !!!

Giovanni Koll A pure joy...and Mozart’s fun probably only lasted 20 minutes! Genius.
