Jackson's acting and performance here is beyond incredible, again, underrated lead.
They are such a fun quartet. Check out some of their other performances in our Comedy Playlist.
I’d say he’s everyone’s 10th favorite lead
@@XirpEleswyr😏
@@XirpEleswyr but... they didn't even sing last year!
@@BrunnyBeatbox but they were 6th
I am a simple man.
I see "New Fangled Four" and Barbershop.
I click, enjoy, laugh and like. ^.^
this performance is lowkey a masterclass in acting when it comes to developing character and reacting to imaginary circumstances
Their skill at theater and dramatic development within the song is one of the main innovations they have brought to barbershop.
@@royoser9956 If only the Judges rewarded that
@@TwoToneShoes They don't see that successfully pushing barbershop in a new creative direction is a win-win. The old traditions are still there to be celebrated and enjoyed -- and discovered by the many new fans brought in by the NF4.
@@royoser9956 Even by their own definitions of authenticity and using their singing to draw a connection to the audience NF4 should, by a landslide, be getting the highest performance score of any quartet. No other quartet puts themselves out there nearly as well or as much, and connects with the audience as much, as the NF4. But I think the Judges just automatically mark them off for being funny and doing some non-traditional stuff (Which should only affect the MUS score really but with how consistently the NF4s scores seem to be spread across the board I sometimes wonder if the Judges even know which category they're judging).
@@TwoToneShoes One thousand precent right. Not only are they the best at connecting with the audience (which should always be the most important thing imo) but they also make ingenious and innovative use of a variety of traditional barbershop techniques, often with songs one wouldn't have thought of as barbershop material, to say the least.

Best baritone moment in the entire contest! ❤️
I know, right??
I believe Marcus was a jazz major, so it makes sense that he can bang out a blues lick
I want it as my ringtone.
No disrespect to Ryan, but Marcus is absolutely tearing it up out there. Excited to see what they're going to do next.
Agreed - once he finds his sea legs it'll be smooth sailing. Much love to Ryan, always - would be great to see him in another quartet.
What happened to this Ryan person anyway?
He left the group, and from what I heard it's because being on tour all the time was taking too much of a toll on him.@@callisoncaffrey
@@philershadi6037 But he was so Asian looking! I expected good work ethic!
Anyway, thanks for explaining.
@@aaronevens9086 Wow. This is one of the most emotional handicapped comments I have read, especially in this community. Ryan doesn't need anyone to stand up for him, because nobody attacked him in the first place, but I refuse to let you threaten people this way without consequence. Please do not attend any barbershop events without a massive therapy session and substantial mental rehabilitation.
Damn the Baritone part with Jake's little sizzle was so smooth. The NF4's always been the best at putting their individual characters and personality into their work and this song was built around Marcus wonderfully. Great way to bring him into the group in a big way on a big stage.
That's a very interesting and true thought. Now that I think about it, almost each one of their songs this year is based on one of them:
Joe Re Mi - obviously Joe
Zazz - Marcus
Stonehenge - Jason
Though I haven't found what song is based on Jake, maybe he doesn't need one because he's awesome, or his section and the good looks joke in Insecurities are enough for him.
@@itamarbar9580Nah the Gaston parody is Jaxsisssipi's song
It is so much fu😂n to focus on Jake from the start of the performance to the end. He is so animated and appears to be having lots of fun the entire time. He brings such amazing energy to this group!
I think that's what he does. He reminds me of the extraordinary energy and commitment Kevin Kline always brought to his performances, I get the same feeling.
3:53 BEST BARITONE LINE EVER DAWG!!!!
Joey's finger nod to Tango, cracked me up
Jackson's seamless switching between patter and doots from 0:53 , brilliant
I like Marcus's "No. BAP" the best.
Joey fricking Buss has done it again on that tag!! 4:05-4:20
Love the Newfangled Tango reference at 2:22! Such a fun performance and impressive singing!
Actually I think it’s referencing Cell Block Tango from Chicago, but that could also be another way to look at it. Maybe it’s bith
@@ManrikiKusari Both probably. If you watch Joey though he's doing exactly the same finger movements he does in Newfangled Tango
@@Lozza1991 Didn't notice that! Thanks for pointing it out!
There is literally nothing I don't love about this performance, except that it ends. The mini-me routine from 3:45 is particularly endearing, but the whole thing is superb. Probably my favorite of all their songs, if I had to pick.
I may have spent the entire second half of the song wondering if Joey dropping his pocket square was going to be an intentional bit or just an accident
Same
Same!
Chekov's pocket square
3:01 if you want to replay it!
@@adorimable9690 Yes, I think it was intentional
1:51 A-GIVE it some ✨zay-azz✨
Woah I really love Marcus voice and his act is a cheery on top XD
These guys' tags and just their overall vocal cohesion was so good this year
i went and listened to the original version(s) of this song, and i gotta say i think NF4 genuinely improved the song here. just feels more lively and energetic, and some of the rhymes work a lot better.
3:54 wow that was the smoothest baritone ever! It was oddly satisfying🥰
Sounds like something Kohl would love to sing himself
@@itamarbar9580 Sounded like something Bobby McFerrin would sing.
@@itamarbar9580 well he is the one who arranged it so it kind of makes sense!
3:54 made me severely attraceted to Marcus
I’m playing trombone for a production of The Prom. The coincidence of one of my favourite quartets also singing a piece from that musical made me so happy!
WOW this was ringing and fabulous. They have a good ear for the chords, it just feels natural and easy. Not, like, overly precise for the sake of it, just right on the money. Love it.
well, they didn't arrange it...but they sing (and perform) it well
I love the style New Fangled puts into their performances, all their lovely personalities is what drew me to start watching more barabershop quartet performances, I wanted to see more stage presence like the one they had, and am now a consistent follower of theirs and the Harmony Society! Thank you New Fangled Four for being so amazing! And y
Thank you barbershop Harmony society for being a source for non-stop shop songs for everyone here on the internet!
2:22 sign to bring back Newfangled tango !!
they better
one of my favorites from this year! jake at the end kills me!
Agree, spectacular. I find myself replaying this one even more than Stonehenge
@@Lozza1991 their whole set this year was top notch i think, but i also find myself replaying this one more than the others
@@jesskruli1630 Yes. The four new songs were especially addictive 🤗
I need another cd of these guys, they're absolutely fantastic
We just started recording one 😎
😀
Another??? They already have one?
@@nocluewhatimdoing4543 They do :)
@@nocluewhatimdoing4543 yes! Though it's not available for streaming (not yet!).
Can't wait for Cleveland next year to see these four take it!
3:44 (I’m transposing)
It has become a morning ritual to watch at least 3 NF4 songs. I wake up with their tags running through my mind.😊🎉
I just make a whole bunch of them into my cardio playlist and so I'm never tempted to skip it
I have goosebumps!!!
Joey absolutely KILLED that tag
They were in my 5!
@barbershopharmonysociety thank you for including the names of the arrangers in the video titles!
Yo, sounding better than ever! Wow, wow, wow!
That was truly FANDAMTHANKYOUMAMTASTIC!!!!
as a casual.. frick frickin yes
Oh em GEEEE you guys! Amazing! Already so impressive, considering Marcus has only been here for a little while. Genuinely one of your best songs - more laid back than some others, but _so_ on-point.
If anything I think this song being more laid-back is to its benefit. Not every song needs to be high-energy crazy slapstick all the time, and it contrasts perfectly with the over-the-top intensity of Stonehenge immediately after.
@@nerdygamergeek4291 Yes, the perfect set.
Top notch performance guys! Fun, entertaining, and top quality singing, who could ask for more eh?
i hope one day this quarter gonna sing on a disney moviiiiee
Anyone else notice the little nod to Ringmasters at 3:21?
Martin Jangö is Lemon Squeezy's bass, Ringmaster's (ex) bass' last name is Wahlgren
@@kleopatra540 yes but the song they were referencing was sung by Ringmasters 😁
@@BrunnyBeatbox I might be missing that completely then haha, what song are they referencing?
@@kleopatra540 check out “All Shook Up” by Ringmasters
@@kleopatra540 I think it's a reference to Teddy Bear by Ringmasters; Jake is imitating Emmanuel. but there's also a reference to Lemon Squeezy, yeah
This is a seriously good song - even for these guys.
Who wrote this awesome chart for you? It's Kohl Kitzmiller...
Doesn't sound the same...
Kohl kitzmiller sounds like baritone scatting on falsetto
it's kohl kitzmiller holy poo!
1:39 😳😳
1:52 delivery of the contest?
Baritone part was great!
U guys should do more of this kinda songs, it suits you guys
Heck yeah
Amazing!!
rockstars
Its funny when looking at the views on the videos in the channel, everyone has hundreds of views except for NF4, they're well over a thousand views each video.
And that's just the new videos, if you go to the most popular they are one of the most popular quartet ! And clearly the most popular still competing
This is probably why none of the NF4 videos got dropped early for public viewing on TH-cam - BHS knows what they're doing...saving the most in demand videos for last!
Bravo!
👏👏👏👏👏👏
2:09
Okay, what the hell did they get points off for this year?? I'm not seeing it
“We need this quartet to exist for TH-cam views” maybe?
3:03 Where did the sock or whatever it is come from!? Im so confused!
Joey's pocket square
@@BuisnessBacca007 oh yeah! I was so worried Marcus was going to slip on it, and didnt know if it was supposed to be a part of the performance 😆

Im sorry, i dont ever want them to win. I will be incredibly sad when they get broken up
Well they won't get broken up if they do win, they'll just not compete anymore
Did Kitzmiller write this
It's in the title : it's from the musical The Prom, so the music was written by Matthew Sklar and the lyrics by Chad Beguelin, but Kohl Kitzmiller did the arrangement.
I wish the said “razzledaz” instead of “razzmatazz”
