i'm gonna say it, because i dont know if anyone else will. i know that this 1.5 hour video took you days if not weeks to put together. for it to have only 9k views is a travesty. i watch a lot of content from many different photographers. your bts is by far the best. like, there's a sizeable gap between what i just watched of yours and what i would rank as the next best behind you. the way you handled working with everyone at the beginning with the push back with them being so concerned about the dress. the way you interacted with everyone helicoptering around you. the greatest thing some one should take away from this is when you meet with the guys/groom, this is exactly how it goes 90% of the time. you are generally constantly reminding them of the timeline, where to be, when to be there. you were great. i am glad you included that chaos because it's accurate. i am impressed. not only would this be educational for someone starting up on how to go through a wedding day, it would help them deal with tough persons you might never think about having to encounter. i am glad i stumbled upon you. thank you for this.
Seriously made my day! Thank you! Lots of hard work goes in and TH-cam can be both a great place and also incredibly discouraging. Just happy my content is helping. Whether it’s 1,000 or 100,000 I just want the content to be helpful to at least one person.
Agreed! What a fantastic video full of so much knowledge and inspiration for my next wedding.
I’m 15min:58sec in & loving every loving it! 👍🏼
What’s iso and aperture you use while taking the picture?
This was by far the best BTS of a wedding day I’ve seen!! I love your approach to weddings.
I love the brides dress so pretty!
Man I've see so many of these BTS wedding videos at this point but this hands down the best one yet!! I love how you walk through your composition techniques, how you make the couple fee comfortable and how natural everything feels. This video has taught me tons and has given me so much more confidence!! Exceptional video!
As someone who has been into photography for almost 20 years, but just now wanting to get into wedding photography: Amazing coverage! Thank you for putting this out there for everyone to see and learn from. Great commentary. Also, love how your wife guided you by your harness as you were walking backward at the end of the ceremony. Such a sweet thing to see as it looked so natural. Great team!
Oh yes JOsiah this a great instructional video! Had a gurl gush moment lol
Loves theses !!! and amazing work fr
OKAAAAY, I have a wedding this Saturday and I stumbled across your page and finding these videos majorly inspiring. LOVE IT! You exhibit great emotional intelligence.
Brilliant work! I am so impressed.
Truly grateful for this video. I will be photographing a friends’ wedding this coming May with a Hasselblad 500cm and a 35mm camera. This will definitely help me understand the going-ons of photographing a wedding.
Biggest bridal party I've ever seen! 😂 This was fun to watch. SO many photos, now debating doing a first look to make the most of the sunlight..
This is the BEST BEST VIDEO!!! Great job Josiah!!!
Wow, thanks! This is so encouraging! Got another full day BTS I’m trying to get edited and a full 6 month course I’m working on that covers every aspect of my business essentially. So lots to come soon!
Thoroughly enjoyed watching great video
thank you for the video, will watch it again, great opportunity to learn , congratulations Josiah !!
Thank you Ricardo! Glad you’re enjoying it!
Amazing Video, Great job handling the Dress Situation. Overall amazing photos and the film scans are top notch!
Thanks my friend! Love how the film scans came out!
Love the tension when dealing with the dress, you were so nice and a true pro.. Thanks for the video brother
Brother, I am just trying to get into the wedding scene and have been scared as hell. I have Panasonic s5, sigma 24-70mm f2.8, sigma 85mm f1.4. I used to have A7iii and unfortunately had to gave it away.
Your work is ridiculous, amazing, and inspiring, and this video is the wedding photographer's documentary at its finest. You have literally forced me to go out and try. Incredible work. Subscribed. Will be keeping close eyes on your content.
Not sure if you would be willing to show your editing workflow or presets, I will be stoked to learn a lot from you.
God bless you! :)
Josiah..do you have a video on setting up exactly how you do your flashes, settings, & placements. I didn’t see any in the video when they were dancing
Your video is amazing ! Better than a netflix series ahah !!
Thank you a lot !
And the man that film you do a really nice work, the quality is just amazing, do you know what he used ?
Thank’s 😉
Wow, thank you!
Merci👍
Hi Josiah, Thanks for taking us behind the scenes from a recent wedding. I'm preparing to film my daughters upcoming wedding on 11th May 2024 , I will be solo shooting using the following camera's. Panasonic HC-X1 / Panasonic vx1 / Fuji X-T4 Will shoot in FHD 25p. Any suggestions would be appreciated Thinking of using Tamron 17-70mm F2.8 on X-T4.
Thank you for the video! Where did you buy your styling mats ?
Style mats are from Chasing Stone. Highly recommend shelling out the money and just getting the bigger size.
During the ceremony, are you using the silent shooting feature or are you okay with shooting with sound?
I have issues with focus points. Which do you recommend?
Thank you for this video! What iso do you normally shoot? I miss that info in the shots.
Changes depending on the location and lighting. I’ll shoot anywhere from ISO 100 to 8000 if I need to.
lol the bridesmaid hitting her vape haha
How in the world did. You not have sun spots in your photos shooting directly into the sun. The videographer didn’t have the same luck…lol… I’m amazed…
i love the video, i want to become like you. im here in philippines
Glad you liked the video Jerry!
Hii love thattt i own a minolta x700 but cant get it focused when using a closed aperture. How do you manage to focus with closed aperture i loved the film photos ❤🥰
Thank you! And I’m not sure exactly… I’m just focusing as best I can in manual. Sometimes I miss and other times I don’t. Definitely takes some practice.
“I’ll take a beer” 👍🏼. Now you’re one of “the boys” instantly. Good move!
What mode do you shoot in? I'm a Canon shooter, but find myself floating between FV and AV, as I noticed your shutter speed changed pretty regularly. Do you typically shoot full manual, or are you shooting different modes based on what you're shooting? Also, are you able to share what ISO you run when posting images?
I shoot full manual. And my iso in most cases ranges from anywhere from 200 to 4000. Just depends on the situation I’m in and what I’m shooting. For this particular day I probably didn’t push it further than 2500. And because I’m shooting a lot of it on a 50 F1.4 I can open up and get some extra light from the lens rather than having to push the ISO. I keep my ISO at 400 when I’m outside pretty frequently. Sometimes 800. Just depends on again with the light looks like and all that. And that gives me a faster shutter speed as well.
What’s your biggest takeaway from this behind the scenes?
Carry a white Command hook for hanging up a wedding dress where you want it? 😁
Thanks for the BTS! Great as always.
Heard of people doing that! Always thought that was a great idea and then I always forget to bring a command hook lol. Maybe gotta add that to our wedding bag.
I'm always worried the dress will be too heavy for it and fall!@@JosiahBlizzard
This was an excellent video. I would love to have a version of it where you narrate your decisions as you go, kind of like a director's commentary on a film. I am interested in your decision not to use flash outdoors, you manage to get great images without it. Thank you for sharing this.
That I have to learn a lot. LOL. I'm impressed. Especially the outside photos without extra light and without terrible shadows in their faces. You did a great job!
Where do you get your medium format film developed?
I send all my film to Rewind Film Lab in Orange California. Love the results they get me!
Thank you for the video, loads of tips but I did feel like this wasn’t far off more of a photoshoot than a wedding. You must have had these guys for hours for these photos!?
Shot with the couple for 45 minutes. Bridal party, bridesmaids, and groomsmen for a total of 35 minutes or so. So out of the 10 hours of coverage they had with us, we ended up directing for maybe 90 minutes with family photos included. Everything else was candid or real moments that occurred.
@@JosiahBlizzard Ah okay fair enough not hours then! Just seemed a long time. Love your style anyway you seem to have the perfect balance of friendly but professional the way you handle the shoots! Lots of inspiration so thank you from the UK! (First big wedding in 2 days haha)
Gotta make the most of the time you have. Best of luck! You’ll crush it!
Ahhh…just saw you moved it…
damn the old lady is such a down vibe
My opinion, you are making hanging the dress to big of a deal and involving to many people. It’s up to you to figure it out. Bridesmaid have better things to do. Take charge and figure it out. I want to instill confidence in my bridal party and vendors that I have it all covered
The bride and mother of the bride were very concerned about the dress getting dirty. The MOB more so inserted herself into the process which I was fine with. Part of me including them was to make sure they felt confident nothing was going to happen to the dress.
Additionally, bridesmaids were walking by while I was hanging and offered to help. I have no problem including people especially when hair and makeup is done and the offer is there. The more interaction I have with as many people as possible, the better as it allows me to become more familiar to them and build a little rapport. Team work like this builds relationships and everyone feels an overall success from it.
Not a problem in my opinion, but I get what you’re saying. Normally I can just take the dress and hang it somewhere and the party doesn’t have much involvement. This was a little bit of a different scenario.
@@JosiahBlizzard all good I appreciate your content
Proper Staging of shots including the dress, makes all the difference in your shots. Well done.
I actually think it’s cool that he was able to bring them in and let them feel involved. Personally, if I was a bridesmaid for my friend, I would love to feel like I could help out and really be part of making the day a success for my close friend. :)
@@JosiahBlizzardExcellent BTS. No doubt about it, you handled the dress situation appropriately and responsibly!
