lol, if you want pelicans or cockatoos you have to come to Rockingham. I've seen 20+ pelicans in a flock on the beach (they come in because of the shallow waters that are a big spawning ground for the fish) and we have a local flock of cockatoos that like 200 strong, you may even see some dolphins as they also chase fish into the shallow waters
The bird at 06:11 is a male Blue-Faced Honeyeater eating the nectar out of the Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise flower). Females are similar but do nut have the blue around the eyes, females have an olive-green colour similar to the colour of the wings. Fairly common on the warmer north Australia coastal areas. Don't see them in cooler temperate Victoria.
Yep jam and cream in a lamington is the best way to eat them. I so enjoy the channel guys, it is so lovely seeing our country through your eyes so keep up the good job❤️
Noosa has a similar vibe to Byron Bay and the Teatree Bay to Hell's Gate walk through the National Park is very nice. There are stops at the Witch's Cauldron and the Fairy Pools enroute. Hastings street is for overpriced boutique shopping and not really my cup of tea. Probably overpriced food and drinks too. Better value in Coolum.
For nature, feed the dolphins at Tin Can Bay We did this in May, and it is something you don’t want to miss It is regulated and closely monitored by the Queensland Government
Hey Guys ! , New "SUBSCRIBER" From New Zealand Here! , . / FROM Gisborne , the 1st town / City in the world to see the new Day ! ( East Coast of the north Island ), ........ AS for Lamingtons ! In NZ WHIPPED CREAM is a Must with a dash of Vanilla essence , And a DASH of Icing sugar whipped in " NICE AND THICK " / AS also A Raspberry jam as you put it , or "Raspberry compote" IS A MUST just for the FLAVOR contrast with the Cream / Lamington taste , AS these Flavors/Contrasts TAKE AWAY THAT DRYNESS FROM THE SPONGE YOU have experienced , Making the whole cake "AMAZING" / For Us anyway who know how to do it , :p / also adding it almost seems as a northern hemisphere , Pudding / Desert at this point , ..... But Aussies and Kiwis , DO'NT CARE FOR THAT RUBBISH , it eaten when wanted ! :P :EG BAKERY'S ETC ! 24/7 :) all the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
love the content and you guys are fun and offering plenty of variety in what your showing us , keep it coming ! on suggested things to do, go out on a boat whale watching, I loved it and don't forget the camera
The free BBQs are provided and maintained by the local council, Sunshine Coast Council in this case. Some councils do and some don't. Those in tourist areas do it to get people to spend money at local businesses - stay longer and spend more money. That way, they indirectly pay for themselves.
The spider at 21:36 is a Golden Orb Weaver. They are quite common around SE Qld and you will see anywhere from house gardens in Brisbane to bush walks. They look mean but are not dangerous to humans but I wouldn't annoy it. Big mature females can have up to a 10cm (4 ins) leg span.
Just subbed. Welcome to Oz. Are you planning on living in South East Qld? Nice time of year now (I'm from Brisbane). It'll be getting quite a bit hotter soon, so it will be interesting to see how you cope with the heat. Anyway, enjoy your time here. Get used to sunny day after sunny day. :)
With the Lamington - Freshly made with Jam and Cream is the only way to have them for my money. Why someone would even make them with Cream and no Jam is bizarre to me but each to their own I guess. As for the jam, being only a Kiwi thing, that's rubbish. Keep an eye out for the Strawberry ones is my tip, best of all. Rather than being dipped in Chocolate, they are rolled in a partially set Strawberry Jelly and then rolled in the Coconut. Really old school version but If you can find one of those bad boys around with the Jam and Cream, LIFE CHANGING experience :)
You must come to Melbourne. I am originally from Scotland but lived in Manchester. Melbourne feels a bit like home to us. We do get the four seasons here. The south coast reminds us of Ireland and Scotland. Enjoying your Vlog. Would love one of Eumundi Market. The last time we were there we had the best Paella ever. 🏴🇬🇧🇦🇺
The Sunshine Coast has lots of great beaches. My daughter and family live there. Since you are down that way and interested in wildlife there are place where turtles nest. My grand daughters saw a turtle hatching, supervised by rangers.
Lammingtons: I like the ones with cream and jam through the middle rather than on top! Yeah, definately prefer with cream and jam! You should also try another Australian desert called Pavlova which is a meringue-based dessert. I like it with passionfruit drizzled over it and some may have it with a dollop of cream.
Enjoying your journey, but (with all respect) would enjoy it more if you didn't wave the camera around so much and so fast, especially the quick zoom pans over the views while you're walking, then back to your selfies. We would like to be able to contemplate the landscape more.
Hey Elmolino, thank you so much for your comment I will try better to hold for longer on the scenery going forward, the quick pans and turns come from my lack of confidence when it comes to holding a camera in public, I'm sure in time I'll master it but in the meantime I may do a couple still if we are in a busy spot, sorry in advance and thank you for advice its duly noted 😉👍
If you are going to Byron Bay - go and see Dan at Highwayman Whisky... Wow, you have gone to a strip mall in Mooloolaba and had a great meal - I recently purchased the prawn and ginger dumplings (costco), put them in the air fryer and they were crispy, whacked in the soy and hmmm - amazing... You took some bark off your foot with a twig - Welcome to Australia son... Finally - walk up to the fishermen and ask - G'Day, mate - what ya caught...
Funny. Moo-loo-la-ba. Must be where all the cows go. If the opportunity arises, you should venture inland. I love riding my motorcycle in the outback. Its vast expanses are a different experience. Being alone, with truly nothing around you. I lived in Spain for 6 years, and that was the one thing I missed. It felt like you could never escape from people. Im really enjoying watching you discover new places and appreciating what you have.
Hi Gary, Hahaha think we start a petition to get it renamed and set up a couple dairy farms there 🐮😅 That sounds amazing, we are still getting our feet under the carpet in regards to living over here but we will defiantly be venturing inland once we are settled. Any spots in spots or routes you'd recommend we look into? 👍
@EatVentureVlog Ularu. There is something very special about that big red rock, being in the heart of Australia, the colours, the vast open expanses, it is almost like a spiritual journey, and you get to understand your insignificance in this world. In fact, anywhere away from the coast, head inland. You'll find different landscapes, a beauty in its sometimes harshness. The people are different too. (Not in a bad way) When I first travelled overseas, it really opened my eyes as to how others live. We sometimes get caught up in our own bubble, in that the way we live is the best, and the rest of the world is doing it wrong. This is far from the case. Travel, at least for me, helps make me more complete as a person. And this is what I love about your journey. You are both embracing life as it presents itself. Keep enjoying your journey.
A bit more emphasis on the end of Mooloolaba to get it just right: Mooloola-BAH. It means mouth of the Mooloolah River in the local indigenous language.
If you go to Byron Bay, choose a date when there is no school holidays in the eastern States as accommodation will be more affordable and it will not be as super crowded. Try to find a place to stay where you can walk to the beach and town centre so you are not having to drive and pay parking fees. Just some tips to enjoy your stay more!
🦁 Both Peugeot & the Australian made (General Motors) Holden have Lions for their logos - could be why you thought some of the peugeots looked unusual. A number of Holden models were sold under the Vauxhall brand in the UK.
The bird is a blue faced honey eater, mostly found on the north east coast , not as many down in NSW. It’s a beautiful bird and a great spot! Nice one! ❤ 🐦
Regarding car makes, Australia has one of the highest number of different car brands all competing. Something like 61 different brands competing for about 1.2 million new car sales a year. The badge you saw that looked like the Peugeot Lion logo is probably Holden, a Lions head. Sadly, Holden no longer exist. They were owned by General Motors and used to manufacture cars here, but along with Ford, Toyota and Mitsubishi before them, all car manufacturing in Australia has ceased.
Love Lamingtons! And like others have said, with jam and cream is the way to go. Must be the Brit in me, but I also love my Lamington swimming in custard!! Mmmm
With Lamingtons, NO cream and No jam, just plain sponge cake, chocolate icing and coconut is the original item. Adding cream and jam is OK but it does change the taste and texture to something completely different so much so that real aficionados would not call it a proper Lamington, especially real Queenslanders. Its dryness is meant to be complemented by a cup of tea or coffee. The Lamington is a Queensland invention. It was invented during colonial times in the late 1890s in the kitchen at Old Government House in Brisbane (now in the grounds of QUT) by the Governor's French chef, Armand Galland. He named it after his boss, Lord Lamington who was the 8th Governor of the then colony of Queensland before federation in 1901. Lamington Plateau and Lamington National Park (worth a visit) are also named after Lord Lamington. Others claim to be the origin of the Lamington - some say it was invented at the Governor's summer residence in Toowoomba and Kiwi's claim it was invented in Wellington. However, in the 1990s, Lord Lamington's grand daughters made a visit to Brisbane and confirmed that their grandfather had told them it was invented at Old Government House in Brisbane.
