Asics Gel Cumulus 25 Review

- Asics gave us the Gel Nimbus 25 and that shoe is probably and arguably the best max-cushioned shoe of 2023. Following on from that success we now have the Gel Cumulus 25.
These 2 have a lot of similarities but more differences than you would think.

Cumulus 25 are so good! Perfect middle ground shoe~ I live in florida and shoe hasn't been too hot for me!

Hi Aubrey thank you for what you do. I purchased both the Nimbus 25 and the Cumulus 25. I ended up returning the Nimbus because for me,I felt more comfortable in the Cumulus. I also noticed that the Nimbus appears to be a bigger shoe in appearance. I felt more stable in the Cumulus. I am an older runner and stability is good even in a neutral shoe. The only complaint I have about the Cumulus is that it does run warm as you stated. Aubrey you were spot on with your review. I wonder if more women will pick the Cumulus and more men will go with the Nimbus.

@@hendyhariadi coming this Friday. I’ve never seen a pair so similar but feel so different.
Loved the Nimbus initially but the side to side rolling sensation and hefty weight wasn’t great. Had my first run in the Culumus and they feel less prone to the rolling (sharper edges?) and the slight weight saving was appreciated. Still had the luxury feel and (almost the same) cushion of the Nimbus. Great choice for my easy runs 👌

I have had the cumulus 23 and now 24, but the 25 design change really is significant..would like to try them on..
Same thing with the Nimbus… in my opinion, this is a completely different shoe and that’s a good thing.
Certainly..I tried the nimbus 25 and I thought I was going to be extremely comfortable, but it felt firmer to me than the nimbus 24 probably for more stability.

You are right, I returned the nimbus but love the cumulus. They are totally different shoes.
I own two pairs of the Cumulus.

Trying to find a comparo vid tween the Cumulus 25 and Nimbus 24.
The comparisons would be likely for current models
I wasn’t impressed either with the cumulus and agree the nimbus 25 is the way to go. I on the other hand went with the New Balance Arisi V4. As I will use it more in the gym environment.
That’s the beauty of running. Everything is so personal and all depends on individual preference. I’ve just had a viewer who returned their nimbus and opted to get the Cumulus and they love it.

These get my vote over the Nimbus (a great shoe btw) Lighter and with less side roll (due to sharper edges ?) but almost the same levels of cush and comfort 👌
Can’t argue with this at all. The only reason I prefer the Nimbus is the comfort, that’s a massive factor for me.

which is the best replacement for saucony triumph 20?
I’d be lying if I answered this so I’ll let others do that. I have literally never ran in a Saucony shoe. I would most certainly be interested in anyone else’s response

I actually haven’t ran in it yeah, had the 10 which I loved, hated the 11s but haven’t tried the 12s. Will most likely get the 13s

How is the fit compared with the Nimbus 25? Is it true to size and does the upper stretch like the Nimbus 25?
I just tried these on in store after just ordering the Nimbus 25. True to size, but the upper is woven similar to the 24, not the nice stretch material like on the Nimbus. Forefoot feels firmer and not as much bounce as the nimbus, but still has the squishy heel with the puregel. I think I'll be happy with the Nimbus when the arrive next week.

I wear a 9/9.5 in a Standard/Wide depending on the brand. I did try the Nimbus 25 in a 9 Standard and it fits just fine - the 9.5 Standard is just a tad longer. Is the Cumulus 25 comparable or slightly wider?
There is a drop in quality of asics shoes. My latest pair didnt hold up as well as the earlier models and is prone to getting dirty easier. Dissapointed.
I think that’s across the board with shoes nowadays because of their intention to minimise weight and also being eco friendly.
I especially agree with you on the resiliency of race day shoes. What makes it worse is that whilst they have lost their durability, they have become more expensive

There is no flyte foam blast + in the meta speed. It's all flyte foam turbo. The reason they got rid of the gel in the 4 ft is because they're trying to get away from gel because it's not as soft as their new foam technology. They have to keep the gel in there for the loyalists the people who have been using Asics for years because they are only impression gel is good for them when in all reality flyte foam blast Plus or any of their new high-end foam is much softer and more forgiving than gel.
