I totally understand why you want to get rid of red. When it’s something that is more of work than fun, or would be worth more money than it’s worth to fix, then you should just get rid of it. And taking all your good stuff and putting it on the sport cross is a great idea. Not only do you get some nice parts, but you save in the long run. But you do you Evan. Whatever makes you happy will make me happy. I love your content and I will always love and support it no matter what you do. This channel quickly turned into one of my favorite channels when I found it roughly 3-4 years ago, and it’s because of your authenticity, and the fact that your not putting on a character. And your daily advice is something that has helped me a lot in recent times. I used to skip them, but when I was in a dark place, your advice really helped me. And I thank you dearly for that. Keep being awesome Evan.
It sucks that you are getting rid of the Red IS300, but I'm glad you made this informative video because I have plans to turbo mine. Definitely good stuff to know!
That video really clarified some things. Thank you. I thought a lot of cars are lost and then sold. So they are not on videos anymore till when. But now the IS gets swapped, which is really cool. And you have plans for the other cars too. I can't wait for the content to come.
Hey remember how you were considering getting an S550 or C6 for a driftcar, and how now you have an excellent chassis that would make an awesome ebisu style drift missile. I mean that would be crazy haha... unless? 😏
Hell yeah man the Sportcrosses are so sick that booootyyyyyyyy 😩 your IS videos are what made me know I needed the IS I have today I cant wait for the videos to come
What brought me to your channel was actually the red is300. I have one and was looking forward to your build. Your plan makes sense to me and I’m looking forward to it. What bugs me a lot about is300s is the intake manifold. It’s position makes basic maintenance harder and just doesn’t look as good as the front facing manifold. I wonder if the ecu relocation can still be done somehow with a fresh car.
That body module measures voltage drop messing with wire lengths can mess stuff up. Changing wire length changes resistance which results in different voltage drops than what the module expects. Not to mention the connections that were added to the wiring also
I’ve never seen a manual swap sportcross, and I’ve barely heard of built ones. This will be very sick. Be transparent in the future vids! We all suck at this and it’s nice to see when the ‘pros’ do wrong occasionally
why not reach out to wiring specialities and have them make you a nice new harness? then drop that 30k drivetrain into the wagon. seems like a good way to start over without losing all of the value you poured into the sedan
Nah def makes sense man ur chilling coulnt have seen it at the time lessons learned.. i got a 01 is300 pain in the ass to work on been siting for a while and all i did was a valve gasket replacement new sparks coil packs new chocks and a intake... now its doesn't idle right and power steering and bleed breaks but still dont work right ugh smh gotta get it towed to a shop now smh
I just found out you bought one! I grabbed my sportcross last weekend and am loving it so far. Suspension work is first then onto the body. I know your preaching keeping it simple but once it stops becoming my daily driver, i would love to 1uz swap it. Hope the build goes well!
Glad you’re redoing it fresh. There’s a saying “buy once and cry once”, cheap builds aren’t always the way to go. Is300s are not cheap nor easy cars to mod, that’s one of the reasons I sold mine
i learned this from evan, on why i shouldnt buy cheap things for builds... more headaches then its worth, part mismatches, machining issues, cars blowing up... headaches and stress, i just buy the nicer part or car, and ussually the extra time waiting to aquire the item is always worth it over being hasty and going cheap or fast.... Lastly sometimes OEM is best... not everything has to be modded... Oem parts are fine for most people, and your should only mod exactly what you have too.
Your story is exactly my story I have two I S3 hundred I literally just bought one already fully built turbo swapped. Everything works has none of the problems that you experienced was done by a very well-known to Jay-Z builder, so I basically took all the good parts off my old I S and put onto the turbo one to make one car.
Good video, Evan. I'm vibing with the upcoming content; I have a gray IS manual sedan. I've also had an SC and a familiar first car experience of slinging an engine into a turbo Subaru after blowing it up lol. I have a tidbit on running a front facing intake manifold and throttle body on an IS and how it relates to passing emissions. Especially for an aftermarket one, it seems nearly impossible to do without the stock ECU being unhappy and throwing a code when it doesn't have all the ETCS stuff hooked up to the throttle body. You may be able to do a JDM GTE ECU and be good on CELs, but the JDM ECUs won't work with US OBDII emissions. The only way I think you can for sure have no issues is to run a USDM GTE VVTi ECU which are just impossible to find. Not sure if you care about passing emissions or if you were planning to go full standalone anyway, but I figured I would share this recent autism fixation lol since you said the sportcross is supposed to be a daily and you wanted a front facing intake manifold. It would be awesome to see if you come up with a way to run a clean FFIM with a happy stock ECU with a piggyback system. This is really silly, but the only other way I can logistically figure out how you could do it is to slap the stock throttle body under the seat or in the trunk or something fully hooked to just the stock ECU. I feel like you'd need a second throttle cable going to it as well, or at least an input signal teed from your actual throttle body TPS to the stock ECU to act as the pedal position sensor signal, so it doesn't throw a code when it realizes the phony throttle has no relation to the engine RPM. I think it could get wigged out if you had stock traction control on too when it cuts throttle on wheel spin and the RPM doesn't drop. You would certainly think there's an easier way to do this and someone out there probably knows. Anyway thanks for coming to my niche 2J Ted Talk
thank you for all the headaches i really wanted to boost my is300 i just bought but honestly its not worth it to me ima just swap a 60k motor in it and make it look pretty and beat the hell out of it and drift it anytime i want and not worry about it breaking
And some one must have botched that wiring before selling it there’s no way because I had my Lexus is300 for years and it was a 2003 running great no Christmas tree dash at 279,000 miles and man I thrashed that thing up
Hey Evan you probably won’t read this but so you know I’m running a nat 2jzge vvti with 2jzgte vvti aristo harness and stock ecu with intake using rad industries adapter in my gs300 and it was very simple and starts and drive’s every time
Rewiring a chassis is easy. Deleting the module from the beginning would be easier and would have fixed those issues same with the fire just rebuilding the harness and simplifying it would have made it work some wiring specialists you hired lol. It's no different than making an engine harness. 😅
Yeah you went a bit over board on the builds instead of just using them having fun. I'd say get everything running. Keep the R33 and enjoy it. You can always make it more streetable. I get it though buying lots of cars is nice but you gotta finish a car before you buy another other wise it just stacks up and you get overwhelmed and this kind of stuff happens
ANTI THEFT MODULE! On the red is300 Blew mine on my sc300. Fucked the whole car over. Ended up rubbing through the harness causing a short and frying the anti theft module
yeah but to put in a new body harness you have to literally strip the entire car down and now the engine bay is burned and will need new paint and im pretty sure evan has a soft spot for hatchbacks

Talking about comfortable suspension while bouncing around in the sti is hilarious 😂
I mean wagoons are always cooler than sedans, and a 2jz dad wagon is the way to go.
It’s your fault for fuckin up the is300 because the vvti rods thin asf lmao even i knew the rod was gone do that
He is saying its the wiring issues which are going to be a nightmare to chase driving his decision to get rid...
Dude great choice the IS300 SportCross is the better IS. Honestly one of my dream cars. Keep it up and you do you!
That video really clarified some things. Thank you. I thought a lot of cars are lost and then sold. So they are not on videos anymore till when. But now the IS gets swapped, which is really cool. And you have plans for the other cars too. I can't wait for the content to come.

Hell yeah man the Sportcrosses are so sick that booootyyyyyyyy 😩 your IS videos are what made me know I needed the IS I have today I cant wait for the videos to come
I’m happy as long as you’re happy Ev! Keep up the great vids!!

finally the video that I enjoyed after a very long time. Cant wait for IS 300 build againg. Good luck and keep the mind fresh

Its so Unfortunate the red is300 started stock and is ending up as a shell but i guess shit happens
Yeah man’s just murdered an is300 lmao
Missed the driving vlogs, hopefully gonna see more here soon! Cant wait to see the is rippin!!
why not reach out to wiring specialities and have them make you a nice new harness? then drop that 30k drivetrain into the wagon. seems like a good way to start over without losing all of the value you poured into the sedan
Dang I remember those OG Best Buy vlog days and even the Scion TC vlog days. Came a long way! 🙌🏽
Dude I say he'll yes. This is300wagin build will be sick. I've always thought it be sick to build one of these. Can't wait too see it fold out man!!!

Can't wait to see you in Toronto! You do you we will always be here to watch
When I first saw the tile I was like nooo but now that you explain it I'd do the same thing. Good luck with the new build.
I think why viewers get so attached to your cars is because they live vicariously through you. So it’s almost like it’s they’re car
I felt like that with your evo x. Couldn’t believe you sold it
We all wish had some of these cars to own that why we saying that or thinking like that lmao
Definitely going to own an is300. Seeing the process beforehand is really helpful and dope
@@cithasdasorcerer7357you got it bro, I felt the same with the evo x. I finally got it 2 years go
@@cithasdasorcerer7357 I own one and i can tell you that it is 100% worth it and i couldnt recommend owning one enough
My biggest flex is being a subscriber since 18k and going through highschool listening to those OG videos.
I'd much rather see the sportcross. I understand and support your decision. Gotta stay happy in what you're doing man.
Yes! Do it! We want to watch the whole process!
Love this video! Back to the roots you know. I fully support you in your decision making. Lfgo my guy!
I 1000% support this decision and the wagon is definitely the move my dream cars are a CTSV wagon or like an SRT8 magnum so wagon gang hell yeah
One of my first enthusiast cars was a red IS. I loved it but I regrettably sold it. I miss that car.
Start with a custom harness remove everything use a haltech harness
Glad you’re redoing it fresh. There’s a saying “buy once and cry once”, cheap builds aren’t always the way to go. Is300s are not cheap nor easy cars to mod, that’s one of the reasons I sold mine

Updates on the Evo? Your videos have been wildly all over the place lately I wanna see a complete series finished. Especially the Evo!

The Body control module is in the ecu all as one. When you go stand alone you have to keep the factory ecu to run the interior and dash ect
Totally understand Evan. Do what makes more sense to you and makes you happy.
thank you for all the headaches i really wanted to boost my is300 i just bought but honestly its not worth it to me ima just swap a 60k motor in it and make it look pretty and beat the hell out of it and drift it anytime i want and not worry about it breaking
I remember you asking what to build next and i said sport cross and you said you couldn't find one...here we are lol finally
This is my first noti in SO LONG. TH-cam been gatekeeping
I’ve been watching ur vids since u start building the evo i love ur vids bro ✌🏻
Why didn't you ever put the 2jz vvti you had for the longest time in to the is? Did you sell it? Why not throw it in the sport cross?
I think the sport cross is much cooler. Can't wait to see the body kit on that one
OG vlog style video sits well 👌🏼
Love this! Great information 👍🏼
Honestly hyped for the new is300 build
Retracted my comment. Still looking forward to meeting you in Toronto, Canada..... we R the North LOL

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting on my 3sgte wagon to arrive stateside so I can sell my tl
I've been waiting for this video for so long. Thank you I can finally go to bed.
What about the orange EVO????!!!! So many evo shops around the country someone has to have been able to figure it out by now!!!
Love it can’t wait for the build
Makes sense
We need a 'How to shift quick' 2023 edition with the STi
"simple is key, but that's just me!"
Waiting for the sti to get tuned and make some sauce
I love the is300 but you should not get rid of it just rebuild it tbh it’s a great car
I mean all his cars are for sale. You can buy that red is300 if you wan
Sportcross better
@@tulmenkovfacts and I have a Sedan is300 😆
@@tulmenkov not better than evan
@tulmenkov why lol. I actually prefer the sedan look lol. But that just me😅.
I'm sorry I just had to point out how it was funny seeing a SF beacon in the STi.
Hey Evan you probably won’t read this but so you know I’m running a nat 2jzge vvti with 2jzgte vvti aristo harness and stock ecu with intake using rad industries adapter in my gs300 and it was very simple and starts and drive’s every time

If you are switching the chassis i think you have to make the autocross red, for your families nostalgia sake
that thing will be a clean shell
Yeah you went a bit over board on the builds instead of just using them having fun. I'd say get everything running. Keep the R33 and enjoy it. You can always make it more streetable. You got some of the coolest cars ever bruh
kinda feels like 2013 out here
Rebuild the is300 and let your new mechanic build it on a separate channel for him
Currently working on doing my speakers in an 05 is300. These things suck to modify if you're not just redoing everything it seems like.
I had an 05 I never had problems with the system but that’s because I changed headunit/amp/speakers/wiring all at once.
honestly the only 2 cars I would be super sad to see got are the OG STI and the r33. all the other cars could go for the right reason
Can relate to with my e92 and I still need to bring my main car Aka hr 350z
I don’t understand how you don’t have 1 mil yet
definitely build the sportcross
You originally got the red is300 for a giveaway car. Why not just do that with it?
Hey Evan I was wondering if I could have the alternator off the red is, mine blew out a few days ago😭😭
I watched you since the supra build, it sucks to see you'll sell it😔💔
I wanna see the kit on the red is on the wagon
Is there no company like Wiring Specialties that make or can make a full harness that could fix the red IS300?
Sportcross is my favorite car
ANTI THEFT MODULE! On the red is300 Blew mine on my sc300. Fucked the whole car over. Ended up rubbing through the harness causing a short and frying the anti theft module
Are you still going to finish the AWD civic?
Evan any updates on the evo?
You do you boo
When is the R34 arriving
Red eye S300 👀
Evan i live in south africa and have bought 4 different is300’s to build my dream build😂 so i love this idea❤
I wonder if I can get the neutral safety switch connector from the wireloom?
Lemme get the trans out of the sedan 🤣🤣🤣
I had one
I got noti for the first time in months
Yes, let's go🎉🎉🎉. ultimate dad wagon
You should give it away with like 2k cash so that some1 who wins it can build it up
Sport cross + red IS300 = Red STI
They make custom harness for the car
yeah but to put in a new body harness you have to literally strip the entire car down and now the engine bay is burned and will need new paint and im pretty sure evan has a soft spot for hatchbacks
dont the majority of the cars come with a bcm?
you should contact mark panic for the is300 he is the only onebwho can make it
Hey Evan, just wanted to say you're killing it! Keep up the great work!
Long live Meg the is300!!! 😢
YEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS IS300 SPORTX GANGGGGGGGG
Is it a new giveaway car
