This movie is so utterly brilliant for it's honest protrayal of how the media glamorizes blood and gore but completely neglects great acts of humanity. It shows the true mentality of the American populace watching these TV reports. And IMO the sitcom scene was a jab at how reporters, lawyers and judges ignore the fact that some muderers were badly abused and emotionally traumatized by childhood, helping to lead them into depravity and madness.

Eric was a vengeful murderer who does not deserve to have anyone feel sorry for him, or to try and make excuses for what he did. Direct quotes from his journal read "I wish I could kill all of mankind, except for maybe 5 people" and "If you're alive and reading this then you're lucky you escaped my wrath, because I wanted to kill you." Eric had the intention to kill hundreds of people that day as he states in his journal, and it's a miracle that only 12 people were murdered. If you want to feel sorry for someone feel sorry for Dylan. Dylan constantly writes in his journal that he just wants to be accepted and he wants true love. Dylan was a depressed and impressionable teenager who only had one friend; Eric. Dylan writes that if he found love and was accepted more he wouldn't go through with it, and that he truly wants to be happy in life, but he was to depressed to think straight. In no way am I defending what he did because I've struggled with depression and i'd never do what they did, but if you're looking to defend someone it's Dylan, not Eric. Eric had pure hatred towards humans and wanted to kill as many people as possible.
The media and critics hated this movie because they didn't want to admit this movie was telling the truth about the news hell it's still going on to this day
A good friend of mine back in high school told me about this movie, him & his friend Dylan klyblod or something like that loved it & it was a great movie. Anyways I don't know what ever happened to them they haven't contacted me in years but cool guys! :)

I remember seeing this in the theaters. In the original cut, when the final credits begin, there's a clip of Rodney King saying "why can't we...." and it cuts to "Burn" by Nine Inch Nails. Sent shivers up my spine.
Remember, before this Woody was known as the lovable character from Cheers. It was totally playing against his type at the time and that itself was quite shocking.
It's so crazy... I feel like if people weren't around to see that actually happen, very few will understand how mind bending that is/was. Clearly he was always an exceptional artist.
I liked the psychedelics, black and white and angles attached to this film. This movie was ahead of it's time and one of my favorite tarintino contributions to film.
I was a teen when I went to see this movie back in the 90s. It confused the hell out of me and was so blood gory that I and my then boyfriend as well as many others walked out of the cinema midway in total shock and horror
This film was genius and before 3D was introduced in films! I thought I was tripping with them! Every scene was perfect in the symmetry of this classic!!
Because Harrelson’s performance as a serial killer here along with past roles helps convince the producers and the director that Harrelson has what it takes to pull off Carnage in this film.

During the 2 hrs or so of it playing it was moving its way to my favorite movie every minute!! I seen Romeo and Juliet of abuse going full psycho on the world!! It still holds the number #1 spot and I had that tape from Blockbuster up until just 8 or so years ago and never had intention on returning it!!
Just watched this first time yesterday without knowing anything about it. My god this movie is GORGEOUS, and so refreshing even 30 years later. Tarantino and stone really put their heart into this one. Also felt a bit of foreshadowing when he said “It’s hard to beat the king (Manson) during his interview, (once upon a time in Hollywood)
The layers of irony in this movie and layers of irony make this one giant joke on all of us. You can look at it from a single layer of irony(satire) perspective like Oliver Stone when he made the movie. He attempted to make a movie to explain that people love a good mass criminal; they love the depravity and violence, the chase and capture, and the motivations and mental states of psychopaths. Oliver Stone is definitely right about this but unfortunately he got it a little too right and became what he satarized. Some people don’t necessarily like the violence but just the satirical nature in which it is presented in. Which leads me to the next layer of irony; Columbine. When Oliver Stone made the movie he never expected a couple school shooters to be influenced by his movie, the same school shooting which made mass shootings “popular” in the first place. Just as Oliver Stone wanted to damn humans for liking violence and depravity, he never understood that fictional violence that he depicts is just as influential as real killers you see on tv. No, I’m not blaming fictional violence for causing real world violence but it certainly is an influence on some people’s lives. He set out to make a satire of how the media portrays killers but it ended up construed as literal and it influenced the style and demeanor of the columbine massacre. The layers of irony have now become Ironic(2 layers). Oliver Stone wanted to show how the media portrays killers through satire but he ironically inspired the columbine massacre which media coverage of it inspired even more mass shootings which is the original point Oliver Stone was trying to satirize. So for all the people that love the movie(including myself) the joke is actually on us. If you like the movie because of its plot/characters/violence you completely don’t understand the movie. If you like the movie because of the satirization then you at least understand the movie but you have to live with knowing that even a satire of the way we see violence/infamous people eventually becomes a literal way we perceive violence and infamous people in the real world. If you hate the movie for either of those reasons then you don’t understand the media’s involvement in creating these killers, you don’t understand satire, and you don’t understand human nature. That is the final layer of irony which is Meta Irony. It’s where we are all damned if we do and damned if we don’t. Oliver Stone was right about the way the media portrayed infamous killers and how it gives them motivation to do it, but he didn’t realize that he did the same amount of damage as the media did when his satire of violence became literal violence and his movie became meta ironic.
Yes. Unfortunately Stone's satire contributed to more violence, just as his Wall Street movie unintentionally created more unscrupulous stock brokers believing "Greed is good"
What young people don't seem to realize today, the 1st half of the 90s was completely different than the 2nd half. I suppose that happens with every decade to an extent, but not usually as extreme. I think this movie in so many ways exemplifies the early 90s. The 60s were much the same way. Just look at the early Beatles vs the late Beatles to get a great picture of this.
Yeah, plenty of people go through horrific things in life and don't end up on a killing spree. The last thing we need in today's society is less accountability. I'm sorry for anyone who has been abused as a child (I was too, in all of the ways), but as an adult it absolves you of zero responsibility.
I saw this movie in the theater four times when I was 21. I remember my mom was so pissed off at me because she thought it was evil and also my younger brother was 16 and wanted to see it but she wouldn't let him..lol.
Was watching Bride of Chucky with some friends and they mentioned Mickey and Mallory, Bonnie and Clyde. None of my friends had any idea who Mickey and Mallory were.
Roger Ebert said it best, seeing this movie once is not enough. It's a tough watch, but the message is still too relevant today. Nothing has changed for the better with the media and it has gotten worse.
Stone’s best film. Always wanted to review this, but waited until after viewing the un-cut version. I recommend both-they complement each other. But I also recommend ignoring the social commentary, which though valid, counts less than the artistry of both versions. The entire movie for me worked when all its parts were experienced together. The added-on visuals and sounds; the animals and plants making one realize what the title means, in a larger sense.
a perfect yet brutal satire to the violence that reigns society, and the frivolity of the media around that, intermingled with a deep psychological theme, in middle of a environment of madness, anarchy and chaos, shocking masterpiece that shows the ''true face'' of the society especially in the hardest times, and the reaction of the people to that, with the media alienating weak minds constantly, this film is a bizarre wonder in many forms, but perhaps with a psychotic touch of true about the themes it deals with.
Masterful filmmaking, but very difficult to watch at the same time. Even Stone himself said the film was too over the top after it came out. But fast forward to the 2020s the way violence, especially gun violence, is either glorified or taken for granted and shrugged off, and self-centered people seek to capitalize on it all, and I'd say he was pretty much spot on ahead of his time.
not so fun fact, in Croatia, 1998, a 16 year old has borrowed this movie from a local video store 52 times, and went on a killing spree, he killed 16 year old girl and 63 year old neighbor, and he told the judges that if they weren't passing by, he would kill someone else, and then 4 years later when he was allowed 2 days weekend out of jail, he robbed a bank, killed a policeman, took hostages and then surrendered. the craziest thing is that croatian law is if you are not older than 21, different laws apply to you when on court, so he is getting out by 2027
This movie predicted the future of the USA nobody cared Well now it shows in the streets People should have paid better attention. They deserve what's going to unfold.
Tarantino doesn't get screenplay credit (only story credit) because they changed the script so much. I wonder what the original Tarantino screenplay movie would have looked like.
My dad did this advertisment... His name was Ed Green. .... We did work on a lot of stuff.. an average 10,000 advertisements per year.. including movie trailers.. national TV commercials.. radio advertisements..ETC... Everything..... but I had no idea he did this actually. ....some things I know we did that were together. ...... And if I knew he did this then I was high on mushrooms or something. ..... But yes 100%..... This was my dad........, Yeah right now I'm totally 100% pissed he never told me about this. When this first came I was just finding magic mushrooms. But I never saw the trailer. My friends just dragged me to the movie. In recent years after he just told me there are some movies I don't want you to see. And I'm so pissed so now. Now he's dead. I'm still just ugh ggggggggg. Mad.. since he's passed on I found out quite a few trailers he's done since he's passed away. One of my favorites was The NeverEnding Story... As a kid that was my favorite and The Goonies. He never told me about none of that stuff..... People have always told me ..WOW he would be the greatest person to go watch a movie with of all time. Just to go to a movie and watch one of his trailers before a movie. Even though I've had such great memories. No memory is greater than our simple conversations of life.... Most things we did together it was about music. The Beatles. I recall in later years his favorite song was called Big yellow taxi he said.... A true New Yorker to the very end..... And on top of all this. My most favorite singer Leonard Cohen did the soundtrack for this movie. ..... And he knew for years was my favorite singer artist and great poet. ...... But he never told me
Mickey and Mallory Knox, Clarence and Alabama Worley, Pumpkin and Honey Bunny. Same characters, different universes. Based off the same source material written by Tarantino

Tommy Lee Jones is hilarious in this
Reminds of fear and loathing in Las Vegas
Hi 61 kind of like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. However, I think it had more comedy whereas this one had black comedy
Favorite movie to watch stoned.
When a trailer tries to glorify its director Instead of focusing on the film itself... beware.
Woody Harrelson, Robert Downey Jr - I wish your Famlies all great times, good luck an the best of all my heart`s. Hpy Birthday.
I saw this movie in the theater four times when I was 21. I remember my mom was so pissed off at me because she thought it was evil and also my younger brother was 16 and wanted to see it but she wouldn't let him..lol.
I remember getting into the cinema at 14 to watch this . It was crazy back in the 90s
4 times? wow.
Was watching Bride of Chucky with some friends and they mentioned Mickey and Mallory, Bonnie and Clyde. None of my friends had any idea who Mickey and Mallory were.
LOVE this movie! Mickey and Malory 🖤
Such great couple
Oly Stone sure makes one hell of a visually pleasing movie
Goddamn modern art masterpiece.
This is one of the most bizarre movies I've ever seen and I watched 2001 a space odyssey
Bonnie and Clyde brought me here lol
Victoria this movie is like Bonnie and Clyde mixed with A Scanner Darkly, Domino and Pulp Fiction
same
I'm 41 years old. I've never watched the movie. I think I should. It's a classic and great acting! I ❤ juliette.
This movie is fresh af.
If you read this in 2021, you're a legend
2022… sup
Recently rewatched this with my Son who was thinking Woody only did silly roles and wasnt fit for Carnage. I proofed him wrong
Roger Ebert said it best, seeing this movie once is not enough. It's a tough watch, but the message is still too relevant today. Nothing has changed for the better with the media and it has gotten worse.
Basically Carnage and Ironman on another Earth.
Brilliant film!! I need to rewatch this asap! ❤
This trailer does the film very little justice. One of the greatest films of all time.
I feel like I haven't seen this whole movie and I'm devastated knowing that
what do you mean?
@@MrAlkanet-nt9ic I'm upset that I haven't seen the movie all the way through when I thought that I'd have.
@@L0WKEYL0GAN well, watch it again, whats the problem
@@MrAlkanet-nt9ic derp
Masterful filmmaking, but very difficult to watch at the same time. Even Stone himself said the film was too over the top after it came out. But fast forward to the 2020s the way violence, especially gun violence, is either glorified or taken for granted and shrugged off, and self-centered people seek to capitalize on it all, and I'd say he was pretty much spot on ahead of his time.
Eric and Dylan brought me to this
natural selection and wrath
brendon urie's forehead you know it bro
....
Stop with the columbine crap its not funny 13 people lost they're lives because of those two idiots

So far ahead of its time it’s scary.
This movie is easily one of the most misunderstood films. Didn't expect it to be deep at the end.
this was a beautiful movie... we need more movies like this today!
not so fun fact, in Croatia, 1998, a 16 year old has borrowed this movie from a local video store 52 times, and went on a killing spree, he killed 16 year old girl and 63 year old neighbor, and he told the judges that if they weren't passing by, he would kill someone else, and then 4 years later when he was allowed 2 days weekend out of jail, he robbed a bank, killed a policeman, took hostages and then surrendered. the craziest thing is that croatian law is if you are not older than 21, different laws apply to you when on court, so he is getting out by 2027
Woody Harrelson seems to play pure demise, is that possible
best movie i've seen in a while
its daaaaaaark.... not for faint hearted
This movie predicted the future of the USA
nobody cared
Well now it shows in the streets
People should have paid better attention.
They deserve what's going to unfold.
Tarantino doesn't get screenplay credit (only story credit) because they changed the script so much. I wonder what the original Tarantino screenplay movie would have looked like.
Who’s here after watching the trailer for “Infamous”???
you got me there
This movie inspired so many crime sprees.
No
@@HardKore5250 I mean, yes it has lol.
@@peachylady Which?
@@peachylady There have crimes before this film.
@@HardKore5250 .............. lol obviously there have been crimes before this movie, what are you even saying?
Someone told me Rodney Dangerfield played a creepy role in this movie and I had to look it up. Told this was a cult classic, can't wait to watch it.
Happy big 30 b-day, my fav love movie!
The best Oliver Stone movie to come out during the summer along with World Trade Center
now what a movie But people were too stupid to appreciate it
My dad did this advertisment... His name was
Ed Green.
My most favorite singer Leonard Cohen did the soundtrack for this movie. ..... And he knew for years was my favorite singer artist and great poet. ...... But he never told me
We averaged at least 10,000 advertisements per year before his death
Mickey and Mallory Knox, Clarence and Alabama Worley, Pumpkin and Honey Bunny.
Same characters, different universes. Based off the same source material written by Tarantino
They don't make movies like this anymore too much meaning and truth about society as a whole
