As a gas distribution mechanic for a utility company you knocked it out of the park on this post meter install. Wish their was more guys like you and your team that took pride in your work like this
This is a great video. I made one exposing a house flipper, code enforcement and building inspectors trying to cover up a Hazard. It’s the video with 7000 views I’m sure you’ll enjoy it and use it as a tool to show how not to 🙏🙏🤝
Hey wondering if you would know 😅, will the gas company replace old gas line that is only buried about 6 inches at the most. That goes from street to my meter? I get the rest is on my but it's the distribution line to my meter and is very shallow
The difference between a good tradesman and a great one is how well they can do repair work. That's easily the nicest concrete trench and repair job I've ever seen. Top work dudes!
I always learn something from your videos and this one was exceptional in that respect. So many little tidbits, many of them simple things like marking the gas fittings so you know when they are at full depth. Seems so obvious in retrospect but sometimes it takes a pro to help you see the light. I love your videos and have a ton of respect for you and your crew, keep them coming please!

I've done Gas for about the last 4 years now and this is by far the best video on putting in a gas line underground on TH-cam. Only thing I would of done different is put some sort of sleeve around the straight transition Risers to keep it from direct contact with the concrete because eventually the riser will rust right at the concrete line. Still a great job though!
I didn't mention it in the video but I did wrap the riser with foam, so that it wouldn't be in contact with the concrete. The riser is also coated in epoxy. The foam allows the pipe to move independently from the concrete, incase of an earth quake. TY
I was watching to find this out and see the reply to your comment is foam around the pipe, so the wet concrete does not touch the pipe. Maybe Odell Complete Concrete can add this to the commentary.
I got in trouble for using the tape to bond the wire to the pipe. Had to pull 120' of poly back out and zip tie it to the pipe. Good job on the poly. They make shears for poly to get a great cut and also inquire about the shaver for it, makes the ends your putting together perfectly straight. Great job!

Very good video, I have a question,I am going to do a fire pit and a BBQ grill on my backyard and my question is, can the gas and electricity lines go together so as not to dig another ditch? And I will need two gas lines if I am going to make a fire pit and a BBQ grill or just need one gas pipe ? the fire fit and the BBQ will be separated from each other 25 feet
Curious about why you went with the welded fittings over the push on? I know that the push on one's are ridiculously high but I would think renting the welder would cancel out the savings. And in looking back would you do it the same way?
Thanks Mr. O’Dell! How did you dill for the those 3/8th rebar? Looks like it would be a tight fit. Did you come in at a low angle and then bend the rebar level? That’s what I was thinking....
David, do you have any tricks for cutting rebar in a really tight space? I build wrought iron rails and core-mount the posts. Occasionally, the core-hole lands on rebar (invariably soon after I buy a new core bit breaking a tooth off). The cores are only 2-1-4" OD so a 4-1/2" grinder doesn't work and trying to torch cut in a small hole surrounded by concrete worries me too much to try.
The diamond blade should cut through the steel. I cut through steel in concrete all the time. Its a little slower going and a lot of sparks, but it gets it done.
Odell Complete Concrete sorry for the delayed "thank you". My phone glitched or something I just saw you replied. Thank you for the suggestion. Unless, I'm coring through fragile slate/tile etc, I usually use a percussion hammer coring bit (for Hilti TE80). It does have a rotate only mode, though. I'll have to see if a diamond bit is available and cost effective. Perfect solution if so. Thanks for the reply. BTW, I'm still binging on your vids. Being my slow season, I'm gaining confidence to tackle a long-overdue driveway extension for my truck/trailer. Thanks again. If you've read this far, may I ask?...If widening a driveway (and extending it through the side yard), would I pour directly up to my house slab without an expansion foam? My house slab is the only restricting side. One of your videos seemed to suggest the foam is only necessary if the new pour is constricted on two sides (a house and masonry wall). And, would you recommend rebar inserts into the slab? Thanks again! I wish you guys were in Georgia.
Greg Orris Thanks for the suggestion, Greg. Unfortunately, for my typical situation a recip saw doesn't have enough stroke-travel to be effective, unless, maybe, there is a blade that will cut both steel AND concrete. Then, I could drill a relief-hole to get it started.
